CHAPTER 36: THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT

They were both seated on different chairs, Kate and Verma, while Miranda stood. They all wore a sullen look on their faces.

"You shouldn't have to go through that, Miranda. No one should have to go through that." Kate said almost to tears.

"But I'm a survivor. At least I'm still alive." Miranda said as she wiped her tears off her face.

"And where is he? Where's that bastard Antonio?" Kate asked.

"He said he has to take care of some business," Verma replied.

"And you, who are you?" Kate asked him. He was about to reply when Miranda interceded and said, "Antonio sent him to watch me while he's away."

"He could help you escape, right?" Kate asked hopefully. Then Miranda gave Verma a pure look in the eye and just by staring at his eyes, she knew that Verma wouldn't help her escape, not because he didn't want to, but because of Antonio's threats against his life.
