The Unintentional Mishap

Jody frowned as she looked out the window of their car. It was as if her parents canceled her long-awaited dramatic debut for her 18th birthday since they reside in a location she has never visited and is unsure if it is on the map yet. She was astonished when her father told her the night before they left, he had resigned from his position as Senior Engineer at a well-known firm, as had her mother. The latter was also a professor at the university she was attending.

Jody's father accepted a friend who lived in that small town. It thrilled Jody when her father informed her about the offer; she assumed it was somewhere near the beach or in the city. But while they drove, she could only think about her imagination. The sky was so close that she could reach it with her arms held out. The trees beside the roadside are as tall as mahogany trees. Jody believes that illegal loggers have yet to discover the mountain range.

Jody notices a peculiar animal she has never seen outside their car window. She looked at it carefully, trying to figure out what she was looking at outside the window.

"What in the world is that?" Jody asked.

Ronald and Sola were both staring at the enormous beast approaching them. Ronald swiftly depressed the gas pedal and started the car. As the thing followed them, Jody looked back towards the back of the vehicle. She couldn't tell what type of animal was following them.

Jody snatched her father's seat. "Come on, Pa! That beast is on its way to us," Jody said nervously." It's almost there."

Jody saw it jump into their vehicle. It was on top of their car, and their car swerved. She grasped the seat before her, but the vehicle whirled swiftly. Jody's torso and head hit the inside of the car frequently. The vehicle eventually ceased spinning.

"What happened?" Jody asked as she turned to face her parents. Blood was also seeping from their heads. "So, what is that monster?" Jody asked.

Ronald turned to face Jody, lifted one hand, and put a finger to his lips. He motioned for no noise and pointed to the car's top. Jody realized what her father was saying. Their vehicle was mounted gigantic beast. Turn the car slightly so that it faces the ravine. Sola caught Ronald's arm.

"Papa..." Jody said quietly.

Jody had been afraid and worried before, but she seemed to want to give up her heart at that moment. She closes her eyes.

'It's all a dream...' It was all a dream.'

Jody thought about it repeatedly, but their car was perched on the cliff when she opened her eyes. They believe the car has gotten so light that the creature's foot has just almost breached the roof of their car. When the monster stepped from the car's top, it tumbled into the ravine.

"Papa..." Jody sobbed.

Their car collided. Ronald still uses the steering wheel to avoid giant trees.

"Remember, Jody, how much I love you," Ronald said. "I love you even though you aren't a child!" "

"I love you too, Dad," Jody said.

Jody clutched her mother's hand and rested her head on her father's shoulder. Moments afterward, the gigantic beast returned to their car and crashed into the rear of it. And then everything went dark.

Despite her clouded eyesight, Jody can see her parents. They were in the middle of a trip at the time. 'Everything is merely a dream,' Jody thought.

Jody turned around. Their car is in superbly good condition. Jody's parents smiled as she conveyed her confusion. They were in an accident not long ago.

'Perhaps it's all a dream,' Jody thought.

"You're going to enjoy Rivendell, Jody. That's where we come from," Sola said.

"No one seems to dwell in this town. There are no residences visible to me. And there is no signal on my phone. How can I contact my friends?" Jody said, irritated.

"Forget them, Jody; you're not like them," Sola replied.

"Forget them? Are you seriously telling me this now, Ma?" Jody asked. "They are my only genuine friends."

Jody's words drew the couple's attention. "We brought you here for your protection and the safety of others around you, Jody," Ronald explained.

"What exactly do you mean, Pa?" Jody inquired.

"Rivendell is the safest place for you to shift,"

Jody smirked. "Shift? What are you saying, Pa? Are you serious?"

Jody gazed out the window, and her eyebrows furrowed at what she saw. Jody stared at the car window after hearing a loud growl. A large, dark, scaly animal approached their vehicle unexpectedly.

When Jody suddenly woke up, the wind blew her away. When she heard the crying, Jody slowly turned around. Blood gushed from her head, blurring her vision. She kept hearing her mother's voice calling her.

"M-Mama ..." Jody growled. "M-Mama ..."

Jody next saw the wood that had penetrated the driver's seat where her father was. And she was almost stabbed then. Jody gasped as she stared at the wood with blood at the end.

"P-papa ..." Jody whispered. She couldn't stop crying. He had just talked to his father, but now he was dead.

"J-Jody .." Sola said.

"Mom," Jody said. He knew his father couldn't avoid the large branch penetrating their car until it almost reached him in the back seat.

"We're going to escape," Sola said.

Jody heard the car opening in the front, so she opened the car door, but it broke, and she couldn't open it. Sola was already out of the car and trying to open the door, but she couldn't because it was stuck, so they had a hard time opening it.

Jody tried to open the door by kicking it, and she did. She quickly got out of the car. Her mother immediately held her, and they got out of the vehicle. They crossed the ravine until they came to the bottom. They saw a long, rocky river.

"Mom, you have a wound," Jody said.

Jody saw her mother's wound she turned to her. Sola stroked Jody's cheek.

"Your Dad and I are happy that we protected you until our last breath," Sola said.

"Ma ..." Jody shouted. "What are you saying?"

They heard loud footsteps approaching where they were. It surprised Jody when her mother suddenly pushed her until she fell into the river. The river flowed fast, so when she lifted her head above the water, she hit a large rock that caused her dizziness. But as she swayed in the water and her gaze darkened, she saw a large winged creature raise a hand and attack her mother. After that, she couldn't stop herself from closing her eyes.
