The Fake Birthday Celebration

"By the way, thank you."

Jody and Zev were heading back to the mansion at the time. She thought Chief John would detain her because she had no proof that she was sitting on the bench. Luckily, Zev was with Kody and Tim, who saw her sitting on the bench when the incident happened. Jody wanted to cry earlier but had to look tough because it wasn't her fault. If she knows nothing about Kendra's story and listens to it, she will think what she says is true. So, she can't blame the police for believing Kendra and not believing her, and if Zev doesn't come, that will be the end of her.

"If you hadn't come earlier, they would have locked me up," said Jody.

"Looks like Brian won't let you go to prison," Zev said.

"Even though she hates it, I'll still be in jail if you don't come. Kendra's story is compelling, so Chief has believed her."

"Earlier, you were scared..." That wasn't a question—it was a statement. Jody nodded, and Zev said nothing.
