Damon's P.O.V
Will comes to me instead, draping her legs over my body as if to mark me as her while her hands palmed my chest and sides, her face tucked into my neck. I shiver gently at the feel of her small puffs of air tickle my skin, her alluring scent surrounding me in a comforting hold that eased my anxiety.
"You okay?" She asks gently, her soft touches taming me unconsciously while I relished in receiving her undivided attention.
"I'm perfect," I admit, pressing a kiss to the top of her head while my fingers continue to rub at her shoulders, trailing the soft skin there.
"Do you want to talk about it?" She offers gently, knowing me better than I gave her credit for.
"Yes, just not sure how," I confess, turning my head enough to give me a glimpse at her reactions.
Her eyebrows pull slowly as she mentally works at my problems, trying to find a way to untangle them for me. I watch, smiling ruthfully at the gorgeous man I got to call my mate, knowing I'd cherish her for however long she let me. I would protect her even if she wouldn't have me in her life, break any who threatened her or dared to even look at her wrong.
They'd all die, any who were foolish enough to hurt her in the past and any dotish enough to try in the future. I'd kill them all.
She sits up after a few minutes of silence past, her legs folded beneath her while she looks down at me. I reach up to push the hair from her face, making color grace her cheeks while she leaned against me.
"Whatever it is, it'll be better on a full stomach." She states with a nod of approval as if to agree with her own suggestion. "Everything is better with food, so let's eat first and then talk."
I could read between the lines and so could she, we still had things to talk through. We'd needed last night, needed some time with just us and none of our issues in the way, but we couldn't live a fantasy. Life existed outside of us and so did the things which had pulled apart in the first place.
"That sounds good to me." I agree, offering her an honest smile which she rewards with a hard and bruising kiss that leaves me free of a few brain cells.
Will holds my face in place with one hand while her lips attacked my mouth, moving roughly and hungrily as if she meant to eat me, I wouldn't mind if she actually did. Responding to her demands, I part my lips for her, hands finding her frame to pull her closer to me.
She moans into me as our tongues meet to complete a sensual dance that makes me harden within an instant, a low growl escaping me as Will's movements became rougher, hungrier and desperate enough to make my feeble control wean slightly.
Thankfully Will pulls away before my canines could drop, resting her head against mine as we panted heavily, both forcing ourselves to control the needs which had been building for too long without being tended to.
"I've missed you." She confesses making me smile gently, my heart speeding up suddenly.
"I've missed you too," I reply as my fingers brush her skin, needing the physical touch to remind me that this was not a dream or some figment of my imagination to keep me from the pain for a moment.
"I'm sorry Damon." She continues making me frown slightly. "I'm sorry for the way I treated you, I-I shouldn't have pushed you away the way I did... I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize," I beg as she pulls back enough for me to study her like the hidden treasure she was. "Please don't apologize for my mistakes, I was the one who messed up, not you."
Will winces slightly, her eyes shutting for a moment as if my words physically pained her. She takes a breath before looking at me once more, offering me a weak smile that radiated sadness before she opened her mouth to speak again.
"Don't put all the blame onto yourself." She whispers as a gentle scolding, somehow taking words straight from Theo's lips without knowing it. "You weren't the only one who made mistakes Damon, don't try to convince yourself that you did."
I open my mouth to argue against her words but she stops me with a finger to my lips and a kind smile that shattered me within a single heartbeat, my world stopping and going limp against the force of her beauty.
She smiles at me, caressing my face with her soft, thin fingers that moved around it as if to map it out by touch. Her fingertips run over my jaw, following the line before sliding up my cheek, circling my lips before spreading out to sweep a thumb under my eye.
"We both messed up Damon." She says sadly. "There's nothing wrong with admitting that."
I stare at her for another long moment before nodding, relenting despite not wanting to, knowing it didn't make sense arguing against something neither of us was willing to compromise on.
Will smiles gratefully making relenting seem like the best decision I made in a long time.
"Now, breakfast and then more, unwanted conversations." She says with an eager tone that contrasted her words.
I chuckle helplessly as I watch her pull herself off the bed and to the kitchen, following behind her without a second thought.
"Don't you have a stupid pet to feed and take out?" I ask making her glare at me.
"We are not doing this again, no insulting my pet and I won't insult yours." She says firmly pulling a nod of acceptance from me as she makes her way to the door. "You get started and I'll take care of Sassy."
"When will we introduce them to one another?" I ask as I look down at Blaze who was seated comfortably beside my foot, the hand towel still lodged in her mouth.
"When hell freezes over." She replies before leaving the room, letting the door slam shut behind her.
I smile.
