Healing (1)

After sitting in front of Neven for a few minutes, Vera knew her brain was fried. She couldn't think straight, and her body didn't want to hear about getting up.

Not unless it meant moving closer to him.

The night had been eternal pain and disgusting nightmares. But the morning was turning sweet. So sweet that she hadn't noticed how well she was eating. She thought she would never again feel the taste of food, yet there she was.

«It's a pity I'll need to leave soon,» he said.

«Leave?» she repeated with a tone that betrayed her feelings.

She bit her tongue before blurting out something that could expose her even more. Moreover, she hadn't told him her real name yet.

He wouldn't have forgiven her little lie, she could imagine it. But he wouldn't have been too surprised either.
