Heartfelt apologies (1)

Neven took a step forward, and, as a consequence, Vera took one back. She was in his arms, almost melting from the emotions. But they hadn't done anything yet, so she was just overreacting.

She hated the effect he had on her, but they would never meet afterwards. It was just about that once.

One glance at the mirror told her that his aura was cleaning the traces of poison from hers. It was not just an impression. He really was magical.

Following his instructions and playing the role of a bad girl was nothing in exchange. She wasn't sure he knew what was happening, though.

She pushed back her conscience, focusing only on Neven. Everything would become clear when she did that. What need was there for a reason, first of all? She agreed; he agreed. Should have been enough.

When her bottom hit the table, she raised her brows.

«Weren't we going to try the bed?» she asked. «To check whether it's comfortable?»
