«Do you think they'll come back? The youngsters?» Mike had asked.

«One day,» Vera replied.

«I know I won't,» Mike said.

«Never?»

«I can't build a life here. There aren't people, movement... I can't think to live in the same second forever. I need to feel the time pass, Vera. Not to forget that I don't have much of it, just years.»

«I don't think I'll come back either. There is nothing much left for me... Just this empty house and clouded memories.»

«You're making it big abroad.»

«You know it's not that easy,» she spat out. She had told him everything one drunken night when they were teenagers. They had run away to the small town nearby and had too many drinks before starting to tell their inner turmoil to each other.

Vera had confessed she had a contract with the agency and that they treated her as if she was a leech. She was still young, and there wasn't even Sara making her days full of adventures.
