At least, he was handsome, Vera thought while sighing. She had just finished lunch and was observing Neven while he ate dessert. She wasn't in the mood for anything sweet, so she could stare at him in awe.
Hiding the awe and showing a poker face. But, still, she didn't move her eyes away. She didn't even feel guilty because he wasn't annoyed or felt awkward. He continued eating as if being watched was nothing out of the ordinary.
She could even believe he was used to it, if only she hadn't found proof that he knew how to pass unnoticed.
«Would you like another glass of wine?» he asked. «It's good, isn't it?»
«No, thanks. I'm fine,» she said.
She had accepted the first glass even though she was on duty because he had asked with such a relaxed tone. After all, it was for lunch. Everyone in Italy used to do so...
