Before dinner was over, Vera had found an explanation that made some sense. Neven was playing hard to get, wasn't he?

He wanted her to prove that she wanted him, simple. Asking her outright to seduce him was out of the question and would defy the whole point of the game, so he had found a round-away path to make her realise it by involving her own will in it.

He wanted her to seduce him, but also to take the blame. He wanted her to tell him she wanted it, that wicked man. He was playing with her in ways that were even crueller than chaining and ordering her around.

He thought that, now that he had the amulet, he could do as he wished?

She got up to clean the table and do the dishes - she had eaten, after all; it was only fair. As expected, Neven tried to stop her.

«You don't have to do this, Vera. You should rest.»
