Neven didn't have an apartment in Vienna. When he was still working on a plan to get closer to Vera, he had rented his so that he had an excuse to stay in a hotel - closer to his future wife.

As a consequence, he had booked two rooms in the same hotel where they had met for the second time. The rooms were separate but connected through a door. In no way would he have allowed Vera to stay too far.

He had to take care of her, and she was still affected by everything that had happened to her in the last few weeks. Also, her behaviour was making him worry.

She would avoid his eyes or turn silent when they were alone, standing far away, especially in small spaces like elevators or cars. She wouldn't look for contact anymore, which made him wonder whether it was just a plan to get what she wanted.
