Adiane's Defeat

Jayr POV - Earth, Gekorn region - 1007 AFA-SW

As soon as I sense Adiane's presence, from the distance a huge wave can be seen approaching the Dai-Gurren, in fact, it is so big that it is basically a tidal wave that quickly almost submerges the huge Dai-Gurren whole.

But as quick as it came, it also goes away, leaving behind a drenched Dai-Gurren with Adiana's Gunmen, the Sayrune, standing on top of the deck of the now drenched Dai-Gurren with its arms crossed.

Adiane's voice is then heard as she yells, "I've returned, just as promised, human scum!" at the same time, I notice that despite the tidal wave's size and power, luckily no one was swept away by it, not even Simon, Nia, Kittan, and Dayakka Littner, a huge and rough man with short green hair and the pilot of the Dayakkaiser, who all were still standing on the deck of the Dai-Gurren.

And while I was checking the state of the crew, Adiane continues her speech, "First, won't you let me be reunited with my precious princess? I want to say thanks for taking care of her."

After hearing her request, an annoyed Kittan yells, "Bitch, being so high and mighty! I'll smash you up!" but Dayakka, a tall and buff man, with a square face, short green hair, and eyes wearing a white tank top and green trousers, hold Kittan from his shoulder and says, "Wait! Dai-Gurren still can't move. We need to buy some time."

(Image Here - Dayakka Littner)

Hearing what Dayakka just said, Kittan realizes his mistake and says, "I see! Right! We'll send out Nia!" and quickly after, Simon comments, "We can't!"

Kittan then faces Simon and yells, "Hey! You got a problem with the leader's decision!?" making Simon shyly reply, "I don't know why, but it feels kinda dangerous." making Kittan once more yell, "Don't babble. Just get to the point!" but suddenly Nia turns around looking at them and declares, "I'll go."

Making Kittan huddle up both Simon and Dayakka as he whisper loudly, "See... she even said it herself!" followed by Simon that still unsure says, "No, but..."

And at this moment, Yoko returns and says, "I'll be alright. This girl might be able to help us avoid a battle." Nia quickly starts to thank her, "Yoko-san, thank you very much." but Yoko quickly adds, "It's not like I trust you completely... I'll be aiming this rifle at your back. If you do anything strange, I won't hesitate."

And soon the two girls look at each other until Nia says with eyes full of resolve, "Fine."

Meanwhile, I can't help but cover my face with my palm and let out a sigh full of frustration while muttering, "Come on, don't they realize that Adiane can hear everything they are saying!? Not only do they reveal their plan but also the fact that the Dai-Gurren is currently unable to move! Can't they be smarter about such things!! I mean at least try to whisper such crucial pieces of information!!"

At the same time, Nia starts to walk toward the Sayrune while Simon and the others take cover inside the Dai-Gurren.

Nia POV - Earth, Gekorn region - 1007 AFA-SW

I calmly walk toward Adiane's Sayrune while thinking, 'I will finally have some answers to the questions that are swarming my mind since I woke up in that box. All the things I just learned are they really true? Did Father truly cause so much suffering?'

And while thinking that, I finally stand in front of Adiane the Elegant's Gunman, and soon I hear her voice as she asks, "Are you okay, Princess Nia?" but I ignore her question and ask back, "Adiane, please tell me... Did you know that you are making people on the surface suffer?"

The Sayrune steps closer and slowly lowers itself, then the cockpit opens and I see Adiane's kneeling figure as she replies, "As you say... It's my mission to exterminate humans on the surface."

Hearing her answer, I feel a pit in my stomach, but I hold on and continue to ask, "Did my father give you those orders?" to which she quickly replies with a curt, "Yes." feeling upset, I continue to question, "Are you saying you've never questioned what you're doing?"

And as if amused, she says, "Questioned? Goodness... Humans are like insects crawling everywhere. No matter how many of them suffer or die, it doesn't bother us."

Shocked by what I just heard, I exclaim, "Unbelievable!" then I request, in the hope to make my father change his mind, "Let me speak with my father, Adiane." in a commanding tone I order using my position as princess, "Take me to see my father at once!"

But Adiane once again surprises me as her expression turns into a malevolent one as she yells and denies my order, "Shut up already! Why don't you go yourself!" so much that I can't help but ask, "What did you say!?"

Then she stands up and moves in front of me looking down at me from her towering height and says, "You still don't get it? You aren't a princess anymore! You've been abandoned by the Spiral King. Abandoned! ABANDONED!! I don't know what you did, but I'll kill you along with these insects."

Stunned I can't help but repeat her words and asks, "Abandoned? Kill me? My father said that!?" at the same time, I feel a crushing sadness that almost bring me to tears as I continue to question myself, 'Why would Father do that? What did I do wrong!? Is this really true!?'

So much that I question her again in denial, "That's a lie! My father would never do something like that!" but Adiane smiles viciously and says, "Oh, really? Fine, think whatever you want. He'd hate the way you are now anyway!" and hearing that I ask, "Do you hate me too?"

Adiane looks at me with a mocking expression, "Hate? Who cares whether I do or not?" then she jumps back into the Sayrune cockpit and makes her Gunmen stand again as she says, "I do whatever the Spiral King orders, no more, no less."

Then the Sayrune transforms into its scorpion-like form, with a multitude of legs, huge claws, and a stinger tail, and moves the claw around me ready to pinch and crush me with them while saying, "Hatred or whatever has nothing to do with it!" but I ignore the deadly claws and still focus on her and ask, "Are you going to kill me, just because you were ordered?" and Adiane replies without any hint of hesitation, "Of course!"

Hearing that, I question her more, "Then if my father said "die", would you?" this time, she is unable to respond, and noticing this flaw in her thinking process, I continue to attack, "You're wrong! Those people haven't done anything wrong! They just want to live on the surface peacefully. That alone is not a reason to kill them!"

That seems to wake up Adiane as she quickly adds, "They killed Thymilph." hearing that, I think back at the late general and his reputation as an honorable warrior respected by many Beastmen and mutter, "Thymilph..."

At the same time, Adiane continues, "Isn't that enough of a reason?"

I quickly shake my head as I remember what Simon told me before and reply, "No, no, that's wrong! That's wrong too! They also lost their Aniki, and now they are deeply hurt. That's right... This is what happens when people die. When somebody is sad, it hurts. And yet, hurting each other like that... Don't you think that's strange!?"

But Adiane yells, "No, I don't!", and Sayrune's claws start to pinch me and I grunt in pain as they hold my body preventing me from moving and leaving me at her mercy, as I realize that Adiane is truly about to kill me.

Jayr POV - Earth, Gekorn region - 1007 AFA-SW

I calmly look at the scene of Adiane's Sayrune holding Nia between its claws as it raises its scorpion-like tail which is ready to strike its deadly blow at any moment now.

I also notice that Simon is now rushing toward her in a desperate effort, trying to save her after he was unable to activate his Lagann as his Spiral Power is still way too unstable.

At the same time, from behind him, Gurren currently piloted by Rossiu Adai, King Kittan, Dayakkaiser, and the other Gunmen of the Dai-Gurren Brigade rush out of the Dai-Gurren's hangar, as Nia's words and feelings moved them, and so they too now want to rescue her.

As I look at them running toward the Sayrune, I hear Kittan yell, "Abandoning his own daughter! We can't forgive a guy like that!" while all the others yell back, "Unforgivable!"

Meanwhile, Adiane tries to kill Nia once and for all by piercing her with Sayrune's sharp scorpion tail, but a pinpoint precision shoot from Yoko's rifle is able to deflect it buying enough time for the Gunmen to reach them.

Simon who is using his normal human speed falls behind and when he realizes that, he loses concentration and trips over rolling on the ground, and can only look as the Gunmen ram into the Sayrune and push it out of the Dai-Gurren's deck.

Thanks to the impact of the Gunmen's tackle, Nia is launched in the air but is then quickly grabbed by Dayakkaiser piloted by Dayakka.

Meanwhile, as the Gunmen fall toward the ground, I hear Adiane yell, "You piece of trash!" then the Sayrune transforms back into its humanoid form and pushes the Dai-Gurren Brigade's Gunmen away, it brings out its whip and uses it to grab one of the Gunmen and slam it on the ground destroying it with a big explosion, luckily the pilot is able to eject in time and it is unharmed if not a little dizzy.

If my enhanced memory serves me right it was the Sawzorthn, Zorthy Kanai's personal Gunmen, which he pilots as part of the main group of Gunmen that the Dai-Gurren Brigade deploys, unlike the other core Gunmen, its design is peculiar and squarish, not resembling any sort of animal or other object, it may, however, be some sort of speaker.

The other Gunmen are, the Mo-Shogun piloted by Makken Jokin, its main weapon is a large katana, and its physical appearance is that of an ancient Japanese samurai.

Twinboekun a Gunmen jointly piloted by the twin brothers, Jorgun and Balinbow Bakusa, resembles two cojoined faces, each with a fist coming out of its mouth and a leg coming out of its neck.

This Gunmen vastly differs from most others, as it sports two cockpits, each with a full array of controls similar to that of a typical cockpit, this means that each twin would only control half of the Twinboekun, making it unpilotable by anyone else, as a strong understanding between the two pilots must exist for them to use the Gunmen coherently, much less to use it with the skill the two showed.

Kidknuckle the Gunmen piloted by Kid Coeega, this Gunmen resembles a blue and red monkey, unlike most Gunmen seen until now, it uses its large arms for movement, with its proportionately small legs being armed with rapid-fire guns.

And the last that is still on the Dai-Gurren deck is the Einzer the Gunman that Iraak Coeega pilots that serve as a mobile rifle platform for Yoko in combat.

It resembles a green shark's head with two small legs, giving it an ostrich-like gait, the long barrel on its back can swivel around for use as a cannon, or point behind the Gunmen to act as a thruster.

While I was checking the other Gunmen, they all land on the ground with the Sayrune surrounded by King Kittan, Gurren, Kidknuckle, Mo-Shogun, and Twinboekun.

But despite the fact that the Dai-Gurren Brigade has the number advantage, a confident Adiane declares with a tone full of arrogance, "Third-rate Gunmen, eh? Bring out as many as you like! I'll take all of you on!"

And with that, the fierce fight between the Adiane's Sayrune and the Gunmen of the Dai-Gurren Brigade starts with the Sayrune that warps its whip around the Mo-Shogun's arm and quickly pulls it toward itself and then punches it in the face blowing it away.

Then it uses the recoil of its attack to dodge the attack of the Twinboekun who just shoot its Wired Fist at it.

Taking advantage of the opening left behind by such an attack, the Sayrune lands on top of the Twinboekun and uses it as a springboard to jump and intercept the approaching King Kittan's Kittan Stinger.

The Sayrune easily grabs the King Kittan avoiding being impaled by its sharp head and throws it back toward the still stunned Twinboekun, but just as it's about to finish them off with its energy whip, the Gurren takes advantage of its focus on them, and the fact that is exposing its back, to throw its Glasscutter, that hit it and push it back on the ground stopping Adiane's attack and momentum.

Such an attack surprises Adiane who yells, "What?" at the same time, she doesn't realize the threat behind her until it is too late as a huge foot quickly approaches.

Indeed, while she wasted time talking with Nia and fighting the Dai-Gurren Brigade's Gunmen, the mechanic Leeron Littner, was finally able to patch up the Dai-Gurren and made it able to move.

The Sayrune is then kicked by the huge foot of the Dai-Gurren and sent flying and crashing into the ground like a victim hit by the almighty Truck-kun raising a thick cloud of dust.

The cloud of dust quickly clears and reveals the heavily damaged Sayrune that looks exactly like a victim of a terrifying hit and run, with its whole body brutally distorted.

It is clearly trying to move to get up, but it is unable to do so, and realizing this, Adiane yells, "Impossible! Sayrune is..." and at the same time, Kittan yell is also heard as he exclaims, "You did it! Finally! Now! Crush her!" while the Dai-Gurren continues its slow advance toward the powerless Sayrune in the effort of stepping on it and crushing her once and for all.

Soon, the Dai-Gurren's huge foot is right above the Sayrune and it is about to come down and crush it.

But I easily sense another Gunmen quickly approaching and more important, the presence piloting it is a quite familiar one, and soon I am also able to see it, as the Gunmen is quickly rushing toward the downed Sayrune raising a trail of dust, and reaches it just in time to stop the Dai-Gurren's foot using its whole body to sustain its weight.

Adiane then realizes that she was saved and looking at the white Gunmen holding the Dai-Gurren's foot, she exclaims, "Enkidu!? Is that you Viral?" and soon after I hear Viral's voice as he replies, "I humbly apologize for disobeying your orders! I've got my own reasons!"

Then with a herculean show of strength and power, the Enkidu pushes the Dai-Gurren's foot away sending the whole walking fortress into the ground.

Seeing that, I can't help but whistle and mutter, "There's for sure quite a lot of power hidden in the Enkidu, that is basically the same as throwing up and lifting a small hill!"

Meanwhile, taking advantage of the chaos, the Enkidu picks up the Sayrune, and I hear Adiane say, "Wait, we can't leave like this!" but Viral quickly replies, "As long as you have your life, you can fight again, Adiane-sama. Let's retreat from here!", then he notices the Gurren standing in front of him and thinking that there is Kamina inside he yells, "You bastard! We're retreating for now, but we'll be back to finish this!" confusing Rossiu.

Then the Enkidu uses a smoke bomb and quickly retreats away with the Sayrune leaving the battlefield.

Looking at the battlefield and especially at the Gunmen, I let out a sigh and mutter, "None of them feels right... It seems that I have to look somewhere else for a good Gunmen to merge with my Cratergann. Performance-wise, the Enkidu and the General Gunmen like the Byakou and Sayrune are good enough, but I don't quite like their style... Something just doesn't click with them and even Cratergann seems to reject them. Oh well, there are still the other two general's Gunmen, if neither will feel right, I'll just pick the most pleasant looking one, after all, the true power of my mecha will be determined by my Spiral Power..."

Then I focus on what is happening on the deck of the now sitting on the ground Dai-Gurren, as Dayakkaise opens his hand revealing an unharmed Nia as Dayakka asks, "Are you okay, Nia-san?" then she joyfully replies, "Yes, thank you."

Her mood dips down as she remembers what she just heard and then she continues, "But... I apologize. You did all that for me."

Dayakka quickly says, "You don't owe us anything. Have a look around." as she hears that, she turns around she sees all the members of the Dai-Gurren Brigade coming out and greeting and cheering for her.

Dayakka then continues his speech, "Everyone is happy that you're okay."

Moved by such a display of care, Nia shows a genuine smile on her face and waves her hand at them while saying, "Thank you. Thank you!"

At the same time, I notice that Simon is now slowly limping back into the Dai-Gurren and feel that his Spiral Power is becoming even more chaotic, but now it doesn't seem to lean toward the Anti-Spiral Power anymore, but it is more like it is slowly growing weaker and weaker like a flickering light.

Seeing that, I let out a sigh and say, "He is about to lose his will to move forward and fight, constantly wavering between his desire to continue to fight in honor of Kamina's memory and to protect what he cares for, and his desperate need to take his place for everyone in the Dai-Gurren Brigade and the guilt he feels for surviving the battle where Kamina "lost" his life."

After saying that, I decide that it is time to go back to my Soulbound Territory and check on Kamina.

Simon POV - Earth, Gekorn region - 1007 AFA-SW

I'm in my cabin, laying curled up on my bed covering most of my body in the sheet, when all of a sudden, I hear Nia's voice coming from the other side of the door, "Simon? Simon... are you there? I brought you some food." but I remain in silence thinking back to all the times I have failed.

I hear Nia knock on the door two more times, and after a few seconds of silence, she says, "Simon... I was happy that everyone came out to save me. Even though I'm their enemy. This place is filled with nice people after all. But I know... at that time you ran... You ran out before everyone else to come and save me. Simon... Thank you."

But her words don't make me happy at all, after all, even if I tried, I still failed to be of any kind of help, the only thing I was able to do was trip and hurt myself, and so the only thing that resounds in my mind is that I once again failed to be like Aniki and mutter, "It's no use... I can't become like Aniki..."

Jayr POV - Jayr's Soulbound Territory - 1007 AFA-SW

Back in my villa's living room, I'm greeted by the sight of Kamina focused on the screen with blood shoot eyes, the image on the screen shows his character, equipped with leather armor and the always trusty Greatsword, facing, or more precisely getting slaughtered by a hellish black knight wielding a long sword and fear-inspiring looking Greatsword.

That is one of the most recognizable figures of the game Dark Souls 2, one of the hardest bosses in the game, the Fume Knight also known as Raime the Traitor and Rebel Raime.

The reason for his difficulty is that he doesn't use many attacks that are telegraphed, and prefers to use those that are slightly delayed to throw players off, moreover, he has a strong resistance to all types of magic, so physical damage is almost a must when taking him on.

Plus he is one of the few enemies that use dark and fire magic that is potent enough to damage the player, even when using shields that resist 100 percent fire damage.

All of this, combined with a smaller boss arena that can throw off the camera, make this boss extremely difficult to deal with, so much so that I lost count of my attempt the first time I faced him, especially because I was playing as Pyromancer at that time.

Even so, I'm surprised that he was able to advance so much that he already reached the DLC, but I quickly realize the reason, his Spiral Power is constantly enhancing his reflexes, so much that even if he can't still find the right strategy to deal with the Fume Knight, Kamina is still able to persevere thanks to his almost uncanny dodging ability.

Seeing that, I sit next to him and once I know that I won't distract him, I give him some vague tips, "During the first stage of the fight, run up on the boss and get in some free hits while he is appearing. In phase one, it is easier to dodge the Fume Knight while hugging his left knee. Watch out for the small indications of attacks from his greatsword. During each of the phases of the boss fight, the player can get a few free hits on the boss when he transitions."

Seeing him nod, I continue, "In phase two, watch out for the greatsword attacks, since that will be his only weapon. It is now infused with dark fire and deals more damage. Make sure to come into the fight with good dark and fire resistance, which will help negate some damage from his attacks."

Then I look as Kamina slowly start his counterattack, as he tries his best to time right the timing for his attack because the Greatsword is one of the worst weapons for facing this kind of opponent because of its slow attack speed, but still, the best part of this game is that with enough skill everything is possible, even running the whole game unarmed and naked, sure, it will be hard as fuck and it will take a lifetime to defeat any boss but it is still possible.

And indeed, after some time, Kamina is finally able to defeat the boss and starts to cheer loudly, "YES! I told you! I, the great Kamina-sama, won't be defeated by a mere game!" then he quickly grabs the loot and moves toward the nearest bonfire to save and then he finally turns the ps3 off.

Then he looks at me and asks, "How did it go? Is everyone safe?" I nod and reply with a confident smile, "Everything went well, everyone is mostly safe, just some minor injuries...", then I fall silent unsure if I should tell him about Simon, and he seems to notice my hesitation and remember what I told him yesterday he asks, "It's about Simon, right? He still didn't get over my "death", isn't it? Did his Spiral Power situation get worse?"

Once again I nod and say, "Yes, he is still struggling with it... But our major concern about him starting to use Anti-Spiral Power is gone... Its willpower is so weakened that he isn't even able to properly generate it." then I smile and say, "But luckily it looks like that your sister-in-law is already working on that. She stands by his side and doesn't have any intention of giving up on him."

Hearing that, an excited expression forms on Kamina's face as he asks, "Good! Does that means that I'll be able to get out of here and return back to them soon!?"

I get up from the couch and reply, "Yes." then I remember what should happen next, and with a grin I ask, "By the way, in a couple of days you should be able to see your Ototo bring out the potential he had always kept hidden until now."

The smile on his face grows even bigger and he yells, "Yosha!! I can't wait for it!" and as I move to the kitchen to prepare our lunch I add, "Trust me, if everything goes as expected, he will truly make you proud. He will take the helm of the Dai-Gurren Brigade legacy that you have left him."
