Eleanor couldn't help but feel her stomach churn as she looked back at the girl named Alice. She was staring at her as if she had taken something from her.
Diana excused herself and left the kitchen, leaving her with the others. She went to them to help. Some were welcoming and some looked scared and one, Alice looked annoyed.
"You should return inside; we'll call you when the food is ready." Alice's tone was impolite. She spoke slightly above her voice and did not look her in the eyes.
She was probably older than Eleanor, so she ignored it, but when Alice finally turned to look at her, Eleanor saw it. She eyed her and looked her over with distaste.
Eleanor raised an eyebrow, remembering not offending anyone and certainly not doing anything worth being eyed at.
If it was the tray she handed her that was making her look at her angrily, she was going to call her out on it.
