He could smell werewolf fur and knew the invader was a wolf. He didn't feel compelled to change, however.

Suddenly, a figure ran from one of the trees in front of him and attempted to flee. Alan, on the other hand, had longer legs, and after a few paces, he had caught up with the intruder, and the figure was writhing to break free of his grip.

While the figure continued to move, she grabbed his beard and yanked it as hard as she could, and Alan felt some fall off his chin.

He shouted as he felt the stinging agony it had left.
