behind her she stood there flattered at the scene.
But she almost jumped in surprise when Marcello turned into a green dragon beside her she stepped back almost stumbling over Karl.
Audra stared at the dragon dumbfounded completely frozen. It reminded her of the dragon in the forest.
"are you going to keep standing there?" It was Karl who broke her trance.
"Am I supposed to sit on that?" Audra didn't even look behind at him when she spoke still staring.
"How else a"It's time" The king announced in front of her and armies and armies turned into shades of red dragons re you supposed to reach the lake?" Ian pushed her ahead towards the dragon.
"What if I fall?" She turned to look at them this time her heart hammering against her chest.
A low rumble escaped the dragon at her question.
"You will die" Ian mocked her earning an eye roll from Karl.
"We will be flying beside you. I'll catch you" Karl smiled at her reassuring. With one murderous look at Ian she moved towards the dragon as it sat on the ground it's wings spread apart.
"How do I get on it though?" Audra looked at the dragon with confusion covering her face.
"Let me help" Karl came ahead. He held her hand as she gingerly climbed atop the dragon moving ahead till she was just at the end of his neck. Her arms circled the scales around the dragon's neck and she was sure Marcello could feel her irregular heartbeat. "If you let me fall I'll return as a ghost and murder you "She threatened in the low voice and was sure he could hear it.
Karl pulled up her hood and she smiled trying to look confident.
"I prefer a plane ride to it but never mind I'll think of It as an adventure" She mumbled as Karl stepped away.
"So dramatic" Ian muttered under his breath returning to his position.
She saw the princes take out their swords their eyes glowed with hues of red and so did their sword she noticed all of their swords were designed differently not just the grip but the edges of it. They began to change black smoke engulfing them seeping from their swords. After a moment dragons stood their where the princes one were.
After the princes turned into the dragon it was now the Kings turn and she couldn't help but notice that instead of the sword he held an Axe in his hands. His Dragon was mightier than the rest. It was humongous with Black red and orange scales mixing with each other it looked like huge flames in the sky. He had spikes lining his back and he roared as he took up in flight his magnificent dragon conquering the skies. After him the princes took in flight and now it was he turn.
Marcello's wings began to flap beside her. They were big enough to hides the dragon underneath itself. He stood up gaining position and then he flew up straight like a rocket; Audra felt her stomach drop as the dragon continued upwards vertically. She shut her eyes closed clutched the dragon tightly. Her heart was almost out of her throat.
"Open your eyes this is the best part" a voice whispered in her head and she knew it was Marcello' She guessed this was the way the dragons communicated.
She took in a long breath peeking from tiny slits in one eye. There was a dark clouds blanket covering the sky and they were about to crash into it. She was cared but she didn't dare close her eyes. She always wanted to touch the sky and the moment the dragon the sky she too felt passing through a soft blanket as if there wasn't really anything there. Her heart jumped in delight as she felt the wetness of the clouds touching her face. And then they were through. Marcello flew horizontally again and she felt like floating in the sky. She saw nothing below except for clouds and clouds separating them from the land. As much as she hated to admit it right now she was sort of enjoying flying it. Her hood fell back and her hairs whipped against her face. A low hoot erupted from her lips as Marcello flew even faster, she was clearly enjoying it.
Another red dragon caught up to them and when a voice" You are enjoying it right "echoed in her head she guessed it was Karl. Unable to find her voice she just nodded at his dragon a smile dancing on her lips. She let herself feel the wind splashing against her face calming her nerves and for a moment she forgot everything where she was and who she really was. But it wasn't long.
"Put back up your hood we are catching up with the others" It was Karl's warning and she looked ahead to see the colors capturing the sky as other kingdoms dragons were ahead of them. Her one hand still clutching the dragon and other carefully pulled up her hood.
"The lake's almost ahead" Marcello spoke in her head and then she noticed the two dragons looking at each other and she knew a conversation went in between them Karl flew ahead of them rolling around and she muttered. "Show off"
Marcello lowered out of the clouds and she saw the Marvelous view of the kingdom. It was breathtaking. The three different types of mountains covering the lands. The lakes flowing sparkling in between the three of the kingdoms. She found herself falling in love with the place.
"Hold tight" Marcello whispered in her head and she obeyed. He flew downwards and she felt her entire system moving up and down inside forcing her to close her eyes and seal her lips to stop from throwing up.
She felt the dragon slowing as they touched the ground. She peeks open her eyes to see they had reached the lake. Even though the dark weather the lake seemed to glow on its own. Masses and masses of people stood by it some turning from dragons to humans they covered the lake till as far as she could see.
She slid of the dragon her head buzzing. She moved ahead stepping on her own toes stumbling forward but an arm appeared in front of her saving her from falling into the lake to her death. For a second she though it was Karl but when she looked behind it was Ian who had saved her. His eyes held concern…? For her questioning if she was okay. She stared back at him not muttering a word she could feel his heart racing from where she held his armor for support.
"Are you all right?" IT was gain Karl breaking their trance running towards her. As if noticing his presence Ian moved away. "Walk carefully" with that he moved away.
"are you okay?" Karl asked again joined by Marcello in human form this time.
"Yes, it just made me dizzy I am fine. So what do we do here?" She questioned looking around as people began lighting up candles. That's when someone caught her eyes. IT was the queen of the winter kingdom standing with her army. Her army covered in blue armor stood in line beside her. Their faces stoic and harsh. She herself looked bored to come here. Audra felt herself becoming angry staring at her. She had the audacity to come here when she herself had sent away her daughter. All of this was her fault. Audra was surprised when she found herself blaming the queen for separating her from her land.
"Why is she here?" She questioned in Karl's ear.
"To keep her face in front of her people I suppose" he held bitterness in his voice for her.
Audra couldn't remove her eyes from them as they stood across the lake from them. Her eyes traveled to the guy standing beside her. He wasn't in the similar armor as the army but he wore a blue fur coat and black pants. He too looked bored to be here as if it was all unnecessary. She couldn't point her finger but he felt familiar to her. As if feeling her eyes boring into her he turned to look at her and his eyes lit up a smirk appearing on his lips and she was sure they had met from that look in his eyes he did recognize her as well.
"Here" Audra looked beside her to see Marcello handing her a fallen leave.
"What is this she questioned?" Taking the leaf from him. She noticed everyone held one.
"This is a fallen leave. It's from the tree near the lake. It's usually known as an Autumn tree leave. Since its only found in autumn like right now. And Autumn represents the return of winter and the leave itself represents the earth and its orange color represents the fire." Marcello explained to her.
"The symbolism for three kingdoms" She commented in understanding.
"Yes, we are going to put a candle on it and let it float down the lake."
