Taken

We traveled with six bodyguards in heavily tinted SUV's. I was putting on a white-colored shirt buttoned up underneath with a tight black blazer, a black pencil skirt on a minimal height of black heels. My hair was swept up in a tight sleek ponytail.

"You know..you're giving him a hard time, he's still trying to cope with everything, Zavi would never apologize," Davina said.

I huffed, "You don't give up, do you?."

"I can't sit and watch like everything's alright. You're not doing great either."

I rolled my eyes and looked down, my eyes stared at the ring on my pinky finger. My mind wandered off when he gave me this ring. I ran my other hand on it unconsciously.

"See."

"Please stop. I know what I'm doing, okay? And now, I have to go to work."

I pushed the car open and walked out.

As we approached the entrance of the club, a bouncer saw us and nodded his head respectfully. His eyes were fixed on Davina, "Miss Bernardi, it's a pleasure to see you again."

He looked at me skeptically, and Davina quickly said, "Don't you recognize Ms. Campbell?."

The man quickly bowed, "I'm very sorry ma. You're free to go in."

He pushed the door open and we walked in together.

Inside, heavy music blasted, poles were staged at the center of the club and colorful lights streamed everywhere. There were a lot of men and strippers in all corners, you could perceive the heavy stench of perfume and alcohol, and the women had their faces caked in makeup.

"Ms. Bernadi. This way…" A man yelled, running towards us.

The man is in his early thirties, he wore a white shirt, untrimmed beards, and black hair. My eyes looked over him as I picked out a red smeared lipstick from his collar. He reeked of alcohol and he looked so unkempt. Why would Zavi give a whole mafia job to this man? Now, I can see how so many drug loads kept disappearing from the warehouses.

"Dimitri, this is Ms Campbell. She's here to go through the ledger and figure out how many drugs were shipped into Sicily days ago." Davina stated. The man looked at me, with a fake smile on his face.

"It's nice to meet you, Ms. Campbell. I've heard so much about you, but I would rather speak to Alec about this crucial arrangement."

In other words, he was saying that I wasn't fit for the job.

"This is my work, sir. You'll be discussing terms with me from now on, okay?." I told him quietly.

"Who the hell are you to look into this work?" He yelled, looking very pissed.

He turned to Davina, "I don't see why the boss's slut should have access to the ledger."

I shut my eyes, keeping my anger in check. He must have something up that he doesn't want me to know.

"Should I fire or kill you?." I asked in a cool calculating voice.

He scoffed and raised his hand to slap me, "How dare you?."

Before his hand connected with my cheek, Zavi asked, "What are you doing?."

He quickly bowed, "Evening, Mr. Romano."

I didn't look at Zavi, I just watched this dick fidget in fear.

"I was about to show Ms. Campbell the work's ledger." He reported, peeping up to look at me, I smirked.

"Then what are you waiting for? I'd like to see it too." Zavi said, and that was when I turned around. Alec was beside him, his hand in his pocket while Zavi stood with both hands tucked in. He looked handsome as always.

Dimitri's face went beet red as he lowered his head, "Of course, let's head to my office, shall we?."

His office was just as horrible as he looked. Bottles of expensive wine littered all over his desk. Papers and trash were scattered all over the floor, and joint wraps were everywhere. I shake my head at the poor chair, it looked like it had endured a series of sex.

I couldn't hold it in, so I turned to Zavi and Alec, "How can you let this..man run a very essential business?."

"You are here to fix it, aren't we?." Zavi replied. I turned and settled on a seat.

"Can I have the ledger?." I asked him. The man bent to his desk drawer and began taking out many books. I watched as his shaky hands took out a long record book.

He gave it to me, avoiding eye contact.

The book was dusty and sticky. It smelt horrible. Did they shove this book into a fucking pussy?.

I opened the book, careful not to tear any page as my eyes ran on it.

"You stopped in January this year. We're getting to October, why haven't you been writing down the sales and all?."

"Em...uh.." He tried to find a lie to tell.

"You've not been working, that was why the number of drugs kept disappearing from the warehouses, what the heck have you been doing in here?."

Not able to find something to tell, he went down on his knees, "I'm sorry, Mr. Romano."

"You haven't answered her question, Dimitri. Take him away and find out if he had any hand in the disappearance of my drugs." Zavi ordered his men.

His men quickly dragged him away. I faced Zavi, proud of myself, "Very nice job done." He commended my hard work. I smiled and suddenly there I heard a gunshot.

I froze, Zavi turned to Alec, "Find what's going on out there."

Alec ran out quickly and ran back in.

"Well, what a day to be under attack." He reported.

"Shit! shit!!." He cursed.

He turned to Davina and I, "Davina, get her out of here now!."

Nora followed Davina out of the club, worried about Zavi and Alec. They had escaped through the kitchen back door and were running to Davina's car.

Nora stood watching the club as the sound of gunshots intensified.

Davina shouted from the car, "Nora, get the fuck inside."

Nora quickly ran in and Davina drove off.

"I believe those men aren't coming for me again," Nora yelled, stripping the seatbelt.

"Who else? You're the reason we've had so much trouble, oh you're the reason I've had much trouble." Davina yelled back.

"What the fuck do you mean, Davina?."

Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she saw something fly in front of the car. The sound of screeching tires and shattered glasses filled her ears as the car flipped.

Her body was thrown towards the windshield, the seatbelt suffocating her as the car continued to flip down.

Nora let out a shrill scream as the walls of the car collapsed by themselves, she groaned painfully and crept out through the window.

The world seemed to be silent and all that was heard was the sound of her heart slamming against her chest.

All she saw before losing consciousness was a pair of sleek black shoes.

Zavi had just finished shooting the last man standing as he received a call from Irene.

He picked up the call immediately.

"Sir, it's Irene. I found out that he wasn't the man that I had been giving information to. It was a woman in disguise and you know who."

Zavi hoped it wasn't where his mind was going right now.

"It's Davina Bernardi."
