[Mission completed: Sell to at least one customer! Congratulations! You have unlocked further customization options and new mall facilities!]
Lin Feng nearly jumped with excitement when he got the notification. For more than six months, he had been sitting around dreaming about the day that he would finally make some progress in unlocking the system. He desperately wanted to find some way to get out of this valley. Or at the very least, just find something to do other than sit around all day. Lin Feng felt like his personality would become warped if his only source of entertainment continued to be the occasional beating and killing of a demonic beast.
Lin Feng hurriedly opened up the system menu to see what he had gained.
[Points: 7]
He finally had points to spend! Without points, he hadn't been able to buy anything from the system and was living an extremely bare-bones life. He didn't even have a bed or a change of clothes. Hopefully, his fortunes would turn around now.
Lin Feng quickly navigated over to the system missions in order to see what the first beginner's mission had earned him now that it was complete.
[Congratulations on completing your first mission! As a reward, you may now select any one facility to unlock.]
The system quickly pulled up a list of different types of facilities that Lin Feng could choose to unlock for free and build. Lin Feng was so overwhelmed with choices that he didn't know what to choose.
Almost everything on the list was something that he had been deprived of for the last six months and was something he now desperately wanted.
Restaurants, bookstores, home furnishing, pharmacies, arcades, and more.
Lin Feng truly didn't know what he should pick, but as he looked over the long list of options, his attention was drawn to himself. Specifically, it was drawn to his clothes. They weren't something he could easily replace and they were the only clothes he had.
Over the course of six months, they had grown increasingly ragged. When it was just him and Mei it didn't matter too much, Mei was a fox, but now he felt a bit awkward wearing such worn clothing. Not to mention that he had been sent here as he was walking home from the gym. His clothing was not something someone in a cultivation world would recognize.
Lin Feng was conflicted. After spending so long in the wilderness, he was desperate for some kind of entertainment. Either the bookstore or movie theater was especially tempting to him.
That being said, it wasn't impossible for Lin Feng to find some way to entertain himself, he had been doing an okay job previously. It just wasn't ideal. Beating up demonic beasts in creative ways, playing hide-and-seek or tag with Mei, or making a semi-decent chess board and pieces out of rock and brick. No need to mention how strong Lin Feng was, even Mei was strong enough to carve the stone like it was clay. On the other hand, Mei was very bad at playing chess.
After an internal struggle, Lin Feng figured having a way of getting new clothes before his current set completely fell apart was more important at the moment. He didn't know when his next customers would show up after all. He was still in the middle of nowhere.
Lin Feng looked at the prices for unlocking both a bookstore and a clothing store without the mission reward and saw that they normally cost five-hundred points. Lin Feng wasn't entirely sure how points were calculated yet but it seemed like it might be a point per purchase, or maybe a point per spirit crystal.
Either way, five-hundred points was probably far enough away that Lin Feng should really make sure that he kept his dignity. Sales would probably drop if he tried to sell things in the nude.
Lin Feng decisively selected the clothing store before he could change his mind.
[Ding! Clothing store unlocked!]
[Mission reward free placement available.]
Free placement? Lin Feng cursed in his heart. So he would normally have to pay to place it after paying to unlock it? Damn it. Now it's five-hundred points plus however much it would cost to place it. It seemed like his mall was going to be solely selling clothing for a while.
Lin Feng switched over to the map view of his shopping mall. He decided to place the clothing store directly to the right of the entrance. The main room was so large. Lin Feng figured that as long as his shopping mall only had one store, walking across the entire room would just be annoying.
Lin Feng also moved the four vending machines from the back of the fountain to the left of the entrance so that everything would be in one place.
Wang Mu and the other cultivators all shouted in surprise as the vending machines dissolved into particles of light in front of their eyes only to reappear in a burst of light across the room.
They then watched in amazement as the wall to the right of the door shimmered and disappeared, becoming a storefront with little fanfare.
"Senior Lin, what's this?" Yang Wen and the others walked over to investigate.
"Big Brother, is this a new store?" Mei peered curiously at the big glass window showcasing different styles of traditional Chinese clothing on wooden mannequins.
"It is. I've opened up a new shop for clothing now that there are customers."
"Clothing?" Mei pouted. "So it's useless to me?"
Lin Feng gently tapped her on the head, "Stupid girl, what are you going to do once you can turn into a human? Walk around naked?"
Speaking of Mei taking a human form reminded Lin Feng that he finally had people to ask questions to and he could finally find out how close Mei was to being able to take a human form.
"Do any of you know in what realm a demonic beast can take on a human form?"
Wang Mu quickly perked up at Lin Feng's question. Now that he had experienced how effective Lin Feng's vending machines were, he was eager to get on his good side.
"Senior Lin, I've heard people say that demonic beasts can take human form once they reach the Nascent Soul Realm, but I've never met one myself. Great Yan is a relatively poor place for cultivation." Wang Mu shook his head. "A Nascent Soul Realm demon in the Great Yan Dynasty would be a disaster."
"So it is the Nascent Soul Realm." Lin Feng nodded and turned back to Mei. "See, you'll be needing this clothing store in just a few months. Don't be a brat."
Just a few months? The cultivators of the Great Yan Dynasty each took a breath of cold air.
"Ha ha," Yang Wen nervously laughed. "Senior Mei will have to let us know when she breaks through so we can prepare gifts."
"Senior Lin, is this clothing store open for business already?" Wang Mu asked, trying to change the subject. As a government official in the Great Yan Dynasty, Wang Mu should be acting to prevent the birth of a Nascent Soul Realm demon within their borders. Wang Mu was powerless though and would very much like to pretend he never heard anything.
"It should be. Go try it if you want." Lin Feng shrugged. This was his first time actually opening a shop, he didn't know how it worked.
