Aftermath

Mei slumped bonelessly in Lin Feng's arms as the transformation finally subsided. She had never felt so exhausted as she did at that moment.

The transformation had been well worth the wait. Mei's fur now had a metallic golden quality in the light, and her eyes were a bright red with a burning amber light shining through. In addition, her demonic core had transformed. Not only had it been completely healed of the damage done to it by Shu Ping, but the medicine had upgraded it in strange ways.

Her bloodline had been purified to an immense degree by the Yang Demonic Fox Blood Origin Pill. As such, it was doubtful that she would have any bottlenecks in her cultivation before she reached the peak.

Perhaps the only downside to the transformation was that her cultivation had fallen back down to the early stage of the Core Formation Realm, but that was hardly a hindrance when she had access to the Immortal Shopping Mall.

Even after her cultivation base had fallen, Mei felt much more powerful than she had been as a Late-Stage Core Formation demonic beast.

From this, one could see how important a demonic beast's bloodline's strength and purity were. It determined their strength as well as the ease at which they cultivated.

Looking down at her front paws, Mei saw the newly added golden tones in her fur against the gold bracelets she was wearing.

"Brother, is gold on gold too much? Should I wear silver?"

Lin Feng could only blink disbelievingly without knowing what to say. What a vain little fox!

After waiting so long, she finally heals the damage done to her demonic core, and her first reaction is to ask if she still looks good.

Lin Feng didn't answer, but Fang An and Yang Xinhe both spoke up from behind Lin Feng.

"You look even more beautiful than before, Senior Mei!" Yang Xinhe exclaimed.

"If you would like some silver bracelets, I will have them sent over right away, Senior Mei." Fang An quickly offered.

Yang Xinhe's eyes narrowed as Mei nodded at Fang An with approval. It would seem he had met his match when it came to bootlicking.

"I think the gold still looks best on you, Senior Mei," Yang Xinhe said leadingly. "But if you want some silver jewelry, I'll have some brought over from Yashan city immediately."

Lin Feng pinched the bridge of his nose with irritation.

"She doesn't need any more jewelry," Lin Feng interrupted. Then, before Mei could respond, Lin Feng asked, "How do you feel?"

Mei paused and thought about it for a second before responding.

"I feel great! Better than ever!"

"Good," Lin Feng was relieved. "Then I'll leave you to your little group of followers. Don't scam them out of jewelry."

"Scam?! It isn't a scam!" Mei was indignant, "They offer it to me out of their own generosity!"

Lin Feng put Mei back down and walked away as Mei was protesting.

"Wait! Carry me back to the table!" Mei yelled as she saw him walking away.

Lin Feng ignored her.

"I could carry you, Senior Mei," Fang An offered from the side.

Mei looked over at him with disgust.

"Don't touch me."

——

The people who followed Lin Feng and Mei were amazed at the offerings inside the pharmacy. Even the things on the shelves were better than anything they could usually get.

Unfortunately, they were as effective as they were expensive. Most people there didn't dare to buy anything from the pharmacy thoughtlessly. The most they could do was take note of some of the available products so they could go back and consider whether or not to buy them later.

What really amazed the group was the counter at the back of the pharmacy. After Lin Feng left, people began to walk up to the counter to investigate.

Holding their hand up against the hovering screen would pull up a complete description of the person in question. Even things the person didn't know about themselves would appear on the screen.

Any problems were highlighted in red, and selecting the red text would bring up products that were able to treat the ailment.

Quickly, everyone in the shop used the medical checkup function of the pharmacy shop. Most of them found little to be concerned about, but a few were surprised by what they saw.

In particular, a rich merchant found a congenital heart condition that would have killed him had it gone untreated. Luckily, the system offered him a list of treatment options, one of them being a simple elixir from one of the shelves for five spirit crystals.

The merchant gritted his teeth and bought it. Paying more in one purchase than some people had paid for all of their purchases in the shopping mall combined.

Seeing that her group of admirers were busy exploring the new shop, Mei quietly left without telling anyone. Still feeling drained from the transformation she had just gone through, she decided that she was due for a nap.

Now that Lin Feng had repaired her demonic core, she would finally be able to make progress with her cultivation again. She was especially pleased as she was forced to bend down to carry her bracelets in her mouth. Soon, her bracelets would fit and wouldn't fall off as she walked.

Heading back toward the hallways' cultivation room, Mei tiredly moved to the side as people began to rush towards the Yang family's restaurant to see the new store.

Finally reaching where her pillow lay in the cultivation room, Mei flopped down drowsily.

Sitting next to Mei's spot on her own pillow was a beautiful young woman with a jade-like complexion focusing on her cultivation. Interestingly, red wisps of qi surged along her body from time to time as she concentrated.

Li Qianxue was struggling to use her vitality to hone the bones in her limbs. She had made some small amounts of progress ever since Lin Feng had exposed her to the idea of martial cultivation, but it was nothing impressive.

She was having a lot of trouble finding the correct method to efficiently merge vitality into her bones in a way that did much of anything.

At this time, she had only been able to hone a single small bone in her foot using all her effort. Even so, it had taken days of emptying her vitality again and again while struggling to make marginal progress. Resting to replenish her vitality took up more time than cultivation.

Li Qianxue was beginning to lose hope. She felt this was simply too inefficient without a specific method to strengthen her bones.

Mei lazily looked over at Li Qianxue cultivating. After learning from Lin Feng and following his teaching, Li Qianxue could be considered a half-student of Lin Feng. As such, Mei had been helping her out wherever she could.

"Still having trouble figuring out how to hone your bones?"

Li Qianxue opened her eyes sadly as she heard Mei talk.

"I still can't do it. The progress is so slow. I'll be dead by the time I can fully hone one limb."

Mei hummed in thought as she heard this.

"Brother just opened a new store a moment ago. Go over there and see if there's something there that can help you further strengthen your body. If it's too expensive, I'll help you buy it."

"A new store?!" Li Qianxue was shocked to hear this. "Senior Mei, I can't let you pay for me."

"It's fine," Mei shook her head. "You could be considered to be my junior sister. Just go and take a look. I don't even know if there's something there that can help you."

Li Qianxue looked conflicted for a moment before giving up.

"Thank you…," she hesitated for a moment, "Senior sister."

Mei smiled as she turned over tiredly and closed her eyes.

"I'm tired. Go over and let me know if there's anything after I wake up."

Li Qianxue nodded, not that Mei could see this, and quietly left Mei to her nap.
