Two Bowls of Medicine

When the room had finally cleared, the air in the room was deathly still. Korbin's eyes remained  pressed firmly closed, so it felt like there was no life there at all.

"Korbin?" Daphne ventured.

There was no reply.

"The royal physicians have left already."

The only reply was a soft grunt, so faint that Daphne didn't know if it had actually been there.

"Are you feeling alright?"

"Fine, Your Highness. I'm as good as you can imagine me to be."

"Now now, stop being a child." Trying to hide a smirk, Daphne coaxed. "I have your medicine."

She poked Korbin in the side, smiling as he fidgeted in bed. He rolled to the side with a soft sigh. "I can't bear to look at Your Highness, not when I can't even please Your Highness in bed."

Daphne rolled him back.

Finally, after much pressing, Korbin finally opened his eyes. What greeted him were two bowls of herbal medicine, mostly cooled.
