Demonic Affinity

'Are they gone?'

Lilith, hiding behind a boulder, peeked her head over to find a deserted pond. Seeing that the coast was clear she sighed in relief.

'What did I just witness...' she was peacefully sleeping when she was woken up by the sounds of footsteps and assumed it was Eve coming to visit her. Although it was still daytime she thought that she must have a reason for doing so.

However, just when she was going to greet Eve, she saw the figure of a child instead. She instinctively hid behind the boulder as she watched the child take a seat at the side of the pond with her feet dipped in the water.

What stood out to her the most was the doll-like face with chubby cheeks that would make you want to pinch them. Along with her long and enchanting silver hair and her shiny amethyst eyes, it would provoke your instinct to protect the small child.

But... that's when all of the good things ended. Soon after, she saw the object on the child's wrist, slither up to the child's shoulder as she realized that it was actually a snake. Beforehand, she didn't feel anything, hell, she didn't even know it was a snake! However, now she felt instinctively repulsed by the sight of the black snake, it's beady black eyes felt like it was staring into her soul. She knew she was noticed by the snake, yet no movements occurred. The girl didn't react and the snake went back to staring deeply at the girl.

This continued as they sat in silence for what felt like hours. She considered revealing herself and to go introduce herself to the child as she was confident it was the same child Eve was talking about. After all, she was currently wearing that same black string-like object over her body.

Just as she was about to exit from her hiding place, the child suddenly began to move into motion. Startled by the unexpected movements, she stayed hiding as she observed what the child was doing. She saw as the child began drawing something in the dirt. Curious, she took a closer look at what she was drawing, she froze at what she saw...

The Sigil of Satan.

When she was first created from soil she was taught many things from her creator, He would teach them various things. However, one thing stood out to her and she was repeatedly told to never, NEVER, draw this sigil. She was told so because it was one of the few ways that Satan could make a connection in the Garden of Eden. Always being lectured, she developed a fear about the identity of Satan. Yet, she was also extremely curious.

She has never seen an actual demon in her life.

Yes, she may be aware of their existence. However, the only thing she knew about demons was what He told her and Adam. Seeing the child in front of her replicate the exact sigil made her afraid yet also a brimming desire arose within her to see what would happen.

The child finished drawing the sigil with an almost unnoticeable grin and an innocent face as she wiped the sweat off her forehead. Anybody else watching the scene would feel their hearts burst at the sheer cuteness. However, Lilith was sweating buckets, she just watched a little girl innocently smile as she drew the Sigil of the Supreme Ruler of Hell. As far as she knew, that wasn't normal.

Yet, she couldn't keep her eyes away from the 'ritual' the girl was performing. Her eyes were glued to the actions of the girl as she was extremely curious about what was occurring. Seeing her bite into her hand, she wanted to stop her immediately, yet, she controlled her urges and stayed put. Blood dripped onto the Sigil of Satan as she soon went to heaven.

Or at least, that's what it felt like. The child's voice was out of this world, so much so that it even made her become blind to the horrific words she was speaking. 'This child is a demon? With this voice? Eve must be deaf!' Lilith was convinced as she soon realized what the child was actually saying.

What came out of the innocent child's mouth was her willingness to contract with Satan until death! Yet, somehow, it didn't seem like that bad of a thing, coming out of her mouth. She thought that this angel must be getting deceived somehow and that it was impossible for her to have any ill intent.

She resolutely determined that even if it cost her life, she would save this child from the clutches of the devil. Even if it meant selling her soul...

As all of this sunk in as she saw the fleeting figure of the child, she could only think, 'What did I just witness...'

Sylvia was taking a leisurely walk as she enjoyed the fresh air brush her skin. The sense of relief as the overbearing pressure disappeared made her satisfied. However, there was something even more satisfying in front of her...

She felt immense joy at the fact that she wouldn't have to live her life with only her unique ability, even if the affinity wasn't exactly the prettiest. Though the affinity was only temporary due to the contract, she was still excited at the fact that she was able to obtain one.

However, deep inside, she knew, that she wouldn't be keeping this affinity for very long. With that in mind, she decided to select her very first skill.

[Skill Selection: [Demonic]

1. [Succubus Temptation]

Description: Be able to charm and captivate your foes to follow your will.

2. [Hell's Gate]

Description: The ability to traverse through the depths of Hell.

3. [Demonic Transformation]

Description: Satan acknowledges your being and presents you with this gift. ]

Sylvia's eyes twitched as she saw her options. Skill options weren't entirely random, they would reflect the characteristics of their owner through their achievements or other factors. She sighed as she went through her options.

'First of all, I am not a succubus, I am a child for god's sake, who would be captivated by me!? Haa, moving on, I suppose I was given [Hell's Gate] as an option because I crossed traveled through time or something...? I'm not too sure. The last one just irritates me, even if you don't explicitly say it, I don't want to become a demon!'

She wanted to punch something right now, yet she knew that with her body she would just end up hurting herself. She sighed as she mulled over the options once again.

The fact remained, this ability wasn't going to last forever, she was sure of it, after all, she would make it so it wouldn't last forever. So she desired something in the short term, something that would benefit her immediately.

[Demonic Transformation] was immediately disqualified. She was in the Garden of Eden for Christ's sake. If she turned into a demon here she would surely be vanquished immediately, if even the ruler of Hell had to turn into a mere snake there's no way she would be able to survive walking around as a demon.

That just left [Hell's Gate] and [Succubus Temptation]. Thinking about it closely, the answer was painfully obvious, yet it was also the one that she didn't want to take. After all, who would want a skill related to succubus?

Yet here she was...

She was required to convince Eve and Adam into eating the fruit that they swore to never eat. Thinking back she wondered how Satan so easily manipulated the two.

'Well, hopefully, the first ability will help me...' she thought as she chose [Succubus Temptation], though it bothered her, she knew that she didn't really have a choice.

She decided to see the paths available to her.

[Skill Selection: [Succubus Temptation: Rank F]

1. [Nightmare]

Description: Select a sleeping target to suffer their worst nightmare, the more negative emotions they feel, the stronger you temporarily become.

2. [Charm]

Description: Charm foes of the opposite sex with less mental strength than you, charm duration depends on the target's mental fortitude.

3. [Siren]

Description: Abandon the feeble Succubus and allure your prey with your seducing voice. Your targets will be more inclined into listening to you. Passive]

'What the...' Sylvia was truly lost for words. After all, the options given were unordinary. Taking the path of dreams and nightmares, [Nightmare] was extremely effective at preying on negative emotions, and on top of that, the F-rank effect allowed her to become temporarily stronger, and the target wouldn't even know she did it! They would only think they had a bad dream. The only obvious downside to this ability was that the target had to be asleep which would probably disappear if she developed it.

However, she had no time to develop such an ability, although it was tempting to take such a beneficial ability she could only give up on it. After all, in what ways could Adam and Eve having bad dreams benefit her?

Moving on, [Charm] is what you would expect from a succubus-related ability. The obvious downfall was that it could only work on members of the opposite sex. She also didn't want to associate herself deeper with the stereotypical Succubus. Even if she did choose this she would need to think of a different way to convince Eve, and there was also a chance that Adam had strong mental fortitude making this ability worthless.

Finally, [Siren] was truly what she desired. It was almost like it was made for her. Straying away from the demons and moving to the nymphs. The downside to this ability wasn't even a downside to her, in fact, it didn't seem like a downside at all. It being a passive ability could bring some inconvenience to others yet she rarely spoke in the first place.

It wasn't even a competition.

Before, the 'null' would always make her feel empty inside when she saw them. However, now she felt that she had some strength, for now at least.

She was satisfied with her bountiful harvest as she saw the figures of Adam and Eve in the distance.
