Chapter 11: Was I Blind to Fall for Him?

Polly Song packed her sketchbook away. "You want to wait for the police's verdict, right? Fine, I'll wait for you to call them. At the same time, you should also be ready to be sued for false accusations."

Finishing her words, Polly Song picked up her bag and left.

The board members looked at each other in disbelief. Were they just scolded by a young girl?

And were they scolded so thoroughly that they couldn't even retaliate?

After Polly Song left, Victoria Parker sneered, "Then call the police. The Parker Corporation has encountered such a big issue, there's no way to explain it to the board without involving the police. Monitor everyone who visited the model room today. If there's an investigation, no one should be overlooked."

"Victoria Parker!" Mr. Parker shouted angrily, while Victoria had already turned and left.

Downstairs, Polly was kicking the weeds in the flowerbed, hands on her hips, angrily talking to her senior on the phone.

"I leaked their family secrets? Their designs are centuries old! They can't even bring themselves to display the only valuable 'Meandering Stream'. Even if it was leaked, do they really think other people would treat that stuff like treasures?"

She was furious!

"Calm down, calm down."

"I said I didn't want to come, but you insisted on packaging me off like some kind of sales pitch. See what happened now?"

"Who said we're selling daughters? It's to bring honor to the family!" Mr. Walker quipped on the other end.

Polly took a deep breath, "I almost became a thief! Bringing honor? More like honoring the police station, right?"

No, the more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She had never endured such grievances.

When Victoria chased after her, she saw Polly by the flowerbed, hopping mad while talking on the phone, occasionally kicking at the weeds, showing she was seriously pissed off.

Victoria slowed her pace, standing behind Polly, imagining her twisted expression now, and felt somewhat amused by it.

"Go and pack up everything that Mr. Parker has done over the years and submit it. His dealings are getting less and less clean."

Andrew Lindsey hurried to carry out the order, knowing that the CEO was going to take action against the Parkers.

"So does Victoria Parker think you did it?" Emma Turner curiously asked.

"Senior, aren't you missing the point?" Could she not hear how angry Polly was? Senior, seriously, you're too much!

"Of course not. Just think about who calls the shots at Parker Corporation now?"

Polly thought carefully, it seemed Victoria was in charge. Even if there was a regent, Victoria was still on the throne. "He didn't actually say it was me."

"See, I knew it!" That hit the nail on the head!

"Knew what?"

"You and Victoria Parker..." Emma Turner chuckled, her gossipy tone traveling all the way to City A.

"Me and Victoria Parker? Did you get hit on the head with a block of wood? How blind would I have to be to fancy Victoria Parker?"

Behind her, Victoria's expression suddenly changed, and he turned and left immediately.

"Then why did you just scold the employees of his company? Weren't they giving Victoria a hard time, not you?" Polly was indeed venting her frustration moments ago.

"I, well..." Polly was speechless for a moment. She couldn't stand those old fellows pointing fingers at Victoria. When the old lady was alive, Victoria was treated like a treasure by her, so how dared those people blame him?

Also, Victoria just helped her out. They were simply helping each other, yes, that's it.

"You're so fiery, go scold Victoria, then." Emma Turner suggested.

"I... do you think I dare?" Polly deflated quickly.

On his way back, Victoria instructed Andrew Lindsey to prepare the divorce papers as soon as possible.

An already busy Andrew Lindsey thought, "..."

It was quite sudden.

Carrying her anger, Polly went back home. At the door, she took a deep breath to suppress her anger and carefully opened the door.

Her mentor's wife was still awake, and upon seeing her enter, put down the remote control, approaching her, "Are you alright? Have you eaten?"

She was filled with anger.

"Nothing major, don't worry, ma'am. Have they gone to sleep?"

"Daisy was fussing about wanting to see you, but got comforted by Charlotte. Both kids are asleep now."

Thinking of her younger son, Polly wanted to see him fuss; that was not going to happen.

After chatting with her mentor's wife for a bit, she went to rest. Polly then returned to her room.

Little Charlotte was sleeping neatly, while little Daisy sprawled out in all directions, with a little hand on his brother's face and a little leg on his stomach, twisting his body like a little pretzel.

Polly's foul mood vanished completely. She carefully picked up little Daisy, freeing his brother from the pressure. But just as she moved little Daisy, little Charlotte quickly pulled his brother into his own embrace, tightly holding him as if afraid his brother would be taken away.

Little Daisy smacked his lips, wrapped his arms around his brother, and continued sleeping, without waking up.

Polly pinched little Charlotte's cheek and let it be.

After washing up, Polly came back, turned off the light, and lay down. But little Charlotte's soft voice came through, "Mommy, are you unhappy today?"

The voice was baby-like, yet the tone was mature.

"No, why would Mommy be unhappy? Mommy is happy every day." Polly lay on her side, touching her son's soft little face.

Little Charlotte frowned; he had heard grandma and Professor Walker's phone conversation today and knew about his mommy's situation.

"Good boy, get some sleep." Polly gently patted little Charlotte, closing her eyes. Since reuniting with Victoria Parker, she hadn't had a single good day.

The heat was intensifying, walking down the street felt like you could melt under the sun.

Little Daisy, wearing a little yellow hat, squatted in the corner looking at his brother, "Charlotte, what are we doing here?"

"Wait a bit." Charlotte held his brother's hand, fanning him with a small handheld fan. "In a moment, you do whatever I tell you, okay?"

"But why?" Little Daisy asked in his sweet voice, genuinely puzzled by what was in his brother's little head, he couldn't understand it.

"Do you want Daddy or not?"

"But didn't Mommy say Daddy went to space to catch aliens, fight monsters in Japan, and dig coal in Africa?" Little Daisy counted on his fingers, so clearly.

Charlotte: "..."

What will become of his brother when he grows up?

While Charlotte was pondering, he saw a car approaching, whispered something in his brother's ear, and pushed him out.

Little Daisy was suddenly pushed by his brother, blinked his big eyes, looking innocently puzzled.

The security guard, paving the way for Victoria Parker, was momentarily stunned by the sudden appearance of the child and hurriedly moved to chase little Daisy away.

Little Daisy was scared but swiftly dodged past the guard, crashing into Victoria Parker's leg, then bounced and sat on the ground.

Stunned from the fall, little Daisy looked up through tear-filled eyes and met Victoria Parker's gaze...
