Victoria went to Daisy Joy Kindergarten in the afternoon. He remembered the little kid mentioning this kindergarten.
This is a subsidiary kindergarten of University A. It's not just about having money to get in. Most people living nearby are staff at University A, so the children here have parents who either teach at University A or work there.
Not everyone can get into such a top-notch institution.
Victoria was sitting in the car, constantly staring at the entrance, while Andrew finally couldn't sit still and turned to Victoria, "Why don't we just go in and look for him?"
"No need." Victoria kept his eyes on the school entrance, thinking that the little guy seemed just like his mommy – not the sharpest tool in the box. There's no way he just randomly ran into him by chance.
"Ahchoo." Daisy suddenly sneezed.
Charlotte looked at her brother, while Daisy casually rubbed her little nose. "Mommy must be thinking about me."
Charlotte, sitting beside her brother, handed him a toy, then got up and quietly walked to the door, sneaking a peek outside.
Upon seeing the car, she pouted and slowly went back to keep playing with her brother.
"Daisy, the uncle you saw this morning seems to be here again, right at the entrance."
"Huh?" Daisy craned her neck to look outside. "Will he bring me something tasty?"
"Why don't you go check?"
Excitedly, Daisy got up and ran outside with her little legs.
As the teacher was about to go out, Charlotte followed with her hands behind her back. "Teacher, my uncle is here to drop something off. My brother went out to get it. He'll be back soon."
The teacher glanced outside and, seeing the person was someone Charlotte knew, felt assured. Yet, she still bent down to touch Charlotte's little head, "Make sure to let the teacher know when you go out, okay?"
She had to keep an eye on the kids in the classroom, so she stood at the doorway, able to see both sides.
Daisy ran outside, knocking on the car door with her little hand. When Victoria got out of the car, her big eyes looked up at him as if they could speak, shining brightly.
"Uncle, are you here to see me?" Daisy asked while trying to peek inside the car, seemingly looking for her cake.
Victoria didn't expect him to come out. He squatted down to be at eye level with him and couldn't help but squeeze his chubby cheeks. "How did you know I was here?"
"I saw you, Uncle." Daisy said while pointing to her big eyes, signaling how sharp she was.
"So smart, huh?" Victoria chuckled softly, his tone much gentler than usual.
Andrew kept his gaze downward, focusing on his own thoughts, not daring to look at his boss.
Just two words: terrifying.
Daisy nodded proudly, looking like a little show-off.
"You haven't told Uncle your name yet." Victoria let go of his chubby cheeks and inquired.
"Daisy, I'm called Daisy."
Victoria: "..."
Andrew suppressing laughter turned to one side, thinking it was a name Miss Song would come up with.
Daisy watched for a while and realized there wasn't anything tasty, pouting a little. "Uncle, why are you looking for me?"
She was no longer as enthusiastic. In this world, only food and money can excite her. Oh, and her mommy and brother.
Victoria picked up on it, "Next time, Uncle will buy you something tasty, or you can tell Uncle what you want. Uncle..."
"Money." The shiny little words came out spontaneously, her cheeks jiggling along.
"Pfft..." Andrew couldn't hold back, but when Victoria glanced at him, he forced himself to suppress his laughter, looking elsewhere.
Victoria turned his gaze back to Daisy, "Uncle will come and deliver something tasty everyday. However, tomorrow Uncle has something on and can't make it."
"Why can't you come tomorrow?" Daisy tilted her head, appearing puzzled.
"Because it's Uncle's mother's birthday, and Uncle has to celebrate it with her."
"Wow, will there be a lot of yummy food?" Daisy rubbed her hands together, eager to eat something.
"There will definitely be lots of yummy food, go on inside now, or the teacher will start worrying." Victoria patted her little head.
"Yeah, yeah." Daisy got the promise and skipped back inside, eager to share the good news with her brother. They'll have tasty treats every day now.
Victoria watched Daisy going back inside, "Did Polly Song take half a million from my mom last year, yet why does she still seem short on money?"
Once the kids were gone, Victoria's tone changed instantly.
"Heard Miss Song spent a lot on Old Rook's artistic ventures over the past couple years, probably that's where the half a million went."
Victoria paused, "Half a million all spent? Did she build a new piece of historical art?"
"Purchase books."
Victoria fell silent, starting to question his son's intelligence.
"It's been twenty years since anyone mentioned the historical art, yet she's persistent." Victoria said and then bent down to get into the car.
Andrew quickly got in, started the engine, and drove away.
Daisy went in excitedly to tell her brother the good news that this uncle will bring them tasty treats every day.
Daisy and her brother touched heads, "Brother, that uncle said tomorrow his mom's birthday, and there'll be a lot of yummy food. It'll be great if we could eat it too."
Charlotte looked at her innocent brother, is tomorrow grandma's birthday?
"Do you want to eat?"
Daisy nodded naturally, "Mommy said if we don't want to eat good food, we won't deserve to be at the top of wherever..."
She couldn't remember.
"The top of the food chain," Charlotte completed her brother's sentence, thinking instead about grandma's birthday.
Mrs. Parker's birthday party invited almost all the distinguished families in City A, surprisingly Sophie Lynn also came.
Polly Song unwillingly was brought by Victoria, and once inside the venue, she ignored Victoria and went to find food, not giving him face at all.
Mrs. Parker noticed and, after exchanging pleasantries with others, pulled Victoria aside, "Why did you bring her here?"
"I guess you haven't realized, we haven't divorced yet, and I don't want the incident to happen a second time." Victoria spoke calmly, "If there is a second time, I guarantee you'll have only one daughter-in-law for life, and that is Polly Song."
Mrs. Parker was annoyed by her son, "Why does it have to be her?"
Victoria looked towards Polly Song, who was happily eating, "Don't you think she's adorable, Mom?"
Mrs. Parker was so annoyed by her son that she felt ill.
Meanwhile, Polly Song was seeking out the next little cake to consume when someone suddenly tapped her shoulder. Polly Song turned around but didn't see anyone, though her peripheral view caught someone standing on the other side.
Michael Knight shifted to her other side, leaning against the table and looking at her, "Haven't bought a computer?"
Polly Song picked up a cookie, "Just haven't had the time, won't let you escape."
Michael Knight chuckled softly, "Always at your service."
Polly Song glanced at him, her eyes shifting. She pressed one hand on his shoulder, "Heard you and Victoria are childhood friends? Like, growing up together?"
