The house was uninhabitable, so Victoria Parker took little Daisy to a hotel, and had someone deliver food there.
On the way, she informed Andrew Lindsey about the remodeling plans and asked him to arrange it.
Andrew was silent for a moment, feeling it was necessary to remind her, "Miss Song has always been committed to divorcing you. It seems she won't give you custody of the child."
Victoria: "..."
"Boss, did you forget about this?"
This comment from Andrew was quite provocative.
"I heard you promised someone a month's supply of milk tea; in that case, I hope to see a cup of coffee every morning."
Andrew: "..."
He shouldn't have tempted fate like this.
"You haven't learned anything else, but you sure picked up her knack for troublemaking quickly."
Andrew looked at the phone that had been hung up, then at the food in front of him. Suddenly, he felt he couldn't continue eating, fearing he'd lose his job.
Polly Song had been busy, and after secretly contacting her brother, little Charlotte Cook was surprised to learn her brother was staying at a hotel. Especially since Victoria didn't get angry and even bought him something delicious.
How is it different from what she imagined? When her brother misbehaved, Mommy would spank him, so how could that mean-tempered man not be angry?
"Mommy, have some water." Little Charlotte put the glass on Polly Song's desk, frowning at her mommy, who planned to stay up late.
"Thank you, darling, now go to sleep. You don't need to look after your brother today." Polly kissed her son's little face, "Go to sleep."
Little Charlotte nodded, climbed into bed, and lay down obediently, watching as her mommy busied herself again, her little forehead furrowed in concern.
Little Daisy found her brother first thing at school the next morning.
"He wasn't angry. At this time, Mommy would have spanked me already." Little Daisy pouted at her brother. "That uncle has a good temper."
Little Charlotte looked at his brother, knowing his brother's destructive capabilities, doubting the man's temper was that good.
But his brother wouldn't lie to him.
"Do you like him?" Little Charlotte asked his brother.
Little Daisy handed his brother the little bread he brought, "Yeah, I like him."
The furrow on Little Charlotte's brow deepened. How could there be someone switching sides?
Victoria arrived at the company, glanced at the coffee on the desk, and then at Andrew standing to the side, "How's the investigation I asked you to do?"
The little guy had suddenly changed tactics again; if there was no one behind it, she would absolutely not believe it. But who could hide so well that no trace could be found?
"I checked with the kindergarten; little Daisy is sent to school every day and plays with classmates without seeing anyone who seems to instruct him, besides you." This was the information Andrew found out, confirming there was no ill-intentioned person guiding little Daisy.
Victoria leaned back in the chair, could it be Polly Song?
Impossible. That woman is heartless and couldn't do such a thing.
Mr. Walker?
Mr. Walker is known for his integrity and wouldn't do such things for money.
Who on earth could it be?
"President Parker, it's time." The secretary reminded him outside that it was time for the meeting.
Victoria got up and took the files out, "Make sure someone keeps an eye on the school entrance, and tell me immediately if anyone contacts Daisy."
"Okay."
The deadline for bids was getting closer, and Emma Turner and her senior came back from the site a week before the deadline to catch up on the final progress.
Victoria had visited Polly Song a few times; she was always busy, so busy that she didn't notice Victoria had been there.
Time slipped into July without warning, and when Polly was woken up, there were only three hours left until the bidding started.
Polly hurriedly showered and left with her senior brother and sister to participate in the bidding at Parker Corporation.
Early in the morning, Parker Corporation's large conference room was ready, and all the companies bidding had arrived.
Polly and her team arrived at Parker Corporation. Emma looked at Polly worriedly, "Are you okay? You don't look well."
"I've stayed up for over twenty days straight, how can I be good? I need a good sleep after this ends." Her senior expressed concern.
Polly shook her head, which was in a daze, "This afternoon, I'm going back to sleep until everything in the universe turns to nothingness."
She was really on the brink of being driven mad by fatigue, but she had to pull herself together for the presentation today.
Just as they entered Parker Corporation, they saw Isabella Lowe entering with her assistant.
"Isabella Lowe, why is she here? Is she also bidding?" Emma curiously asked, having not heard her name before.
"I don't know." Polly yawned on Emma's shoulder, not interested in why Isabella was there.
This bidding adopted Parker Corporation's board voting selection model, so nearly all results could be announced on the spot after all presentations.
When Polly and her team went in, only the seat next to Isabella was available.
"What a coincidence." Isabella greeted Polly with a smile as she sat down.
Polly sat down directly, "If it's intentional, don't say it's a coincidence. I'm not Victoria; I don't enjoy your phony words."
Isabella wasn't bothered at all by Polly's impolite words, "In two weeks, the results of this competition will be out. Who do you think will win this time?"
Polly glanced at the woman trying to make conversation, "Are we that close? You have so much to say; it's a pity you're not doing stand-up comedy."
"Aren't you the one with a good relationship with the judges? I just wanted to get some advance information." Isabella said lightly, but the sarcasm was unmistakable.
Polly adjusted her glasses and looked at Isabella again, "If Miss Lowe uses her twisted cunning in design, I'm sure surpassing me is just around the corner."
Isabella wanted to say something more, but Victoria entered with the Parker personnel, so Isabella swallowed her words, giving Polly a meaningful smile.
Victoria was taken aback when she saw Polly, wondering how she ended up looking like such a wreck after ten days apart.
The order of presentation was decided by drawing lots, with a total of eight competitors. Polly drew fifth place, and Isabella drew fourth.
"Looks like I'll be one step ahead of you this time." Isabella placed her drawn number on the table, looking at Polly with a faint smile.
Polly placed her number face down on the table, ignoring Isabella's remark. Being fifth allowed her to rest her eyes a bit longer.
Just as Polly closed her eyes, Isabella leaned over, "Polly, I guarantee you'll lose miserably this time."
Polly suddenly opened her eyes, but Isabella had already settled in, starting to listen to the first company's presentation.
