"Well not exactly. You see Ilaria you're a phoenix just as your mother was."
"Okayyyyy" I'm am just as confused as I was when I found the box.
"But there's more to it then just that. Maybe I should just start from the beginning." Father says getting up and moving from his seat to the door way "To the lounge would be better this may take a while."
Fen and I follow my Dad in hot pursuit to the living room seeing him wave off the some maids giving them an order for tea and sandwiches.
"All right Ilaria my love. You see there is more to the story. In the beginning our species was created as an army of the arc Angel Michael as a way to protect the human race from the destructive ways of his brother Gabriel.
"Gabriel was a fallen angel who had betrayed and tried to overthrow God in heaven, but in the end was cast out along with other angels who rebelled along side him. They are now deemed to be Demons with Gabriel being the leader now known as Lucifer or Satin." I nod my head trying to follow along as he continues.
"After seeing that God was allowing the souls of human beings into heaven but refusing to open the skies to him and the other fallen Angels, Lucifer became enraged, manipulating humans into doing bad things to prevent their ascent to heaven. In tern forcing them to the underworld where he resides.
"Because of this Michael created us supernatural beings to help prevent the bad deeds of Lucifer, granting us powers beyond that of human ability. As I said before we are warlocks and Fenrir is a werewolf and there are many of us out there across the globe and we reside in the capital of the supernatural beings Akantha."
Silence fills the room as I tried to comprehend what Father has just told me. It seems that he is not lying it must be true. I mean Fen just turned into a giant Black Wolf in front of my eyes. "Okay so is that it or is there more to it?"
Father folds his arms together crossing his legs and leaning back into the sofa. "There is one more thing that focuses purely on our family as well as you specifically and a connection to the royal family. Kingsley isn't your real last name nor mine, your true last name is Valaryon and it means 'Flames of new beginning'. It comes from your mother side she was of high nobility and therefore I took her last name as did you but it also carries danger so in fear of your safety we had to live under my maiden name until now.
"You come from a large line of phoenix warlocks your mothers the strongest in many millennia and yours is prophesied to be even stronger. Next month you will be moved to the Royal Academy and will undergo learning in our culture and to learn more of the Prophecy." Wow that's a lot of information to take in at once but the main thing is my phoenix. What is that?
"Ok I get the guist of it but there is one thing I do not understand. I don't have a phoenix."
"Ah yes that. Now that you are 15 we hold a ceremony 2 weeks from now to gain your powers and unlock the connection to your phoenix as well as the mate bond."
"Mate bond? What is that?"
It's Fen who speaks up this time. "It is essentially a bond or link you have with your soulmate chosen by God and Michael. They are someone who will love you instantly and you them even if you don't know them. Quite literally the meaning of love at first sight."
"Do we all get one?"
"Yes and no I haven't met mine yet you both have to be 15 so my mate is most likely not of age yet but I will find her and I will love her infinitely."
"So I guess that rules me out then." I say half jokingly kind of sad I've spent most of my life with him he would have been great, but as he stated it must not be destiny.
"I guess so." He says in a laugh still smiling.
"Does that mean you and mum had been mates?"I say looking over to my father trying to touch onto the subject with Fen anymore.
"Yes we are, but we didn't meet until later on in life. I myself was 25 and your mother 23. But don't worry I have a sneaking feeling you're mate will come soon enough.
