Savannah And Her Saviour

Some of the men in the tavern got up. They wanted to fight Howland, but after seeing several people behind him carrying weapons, they pretended that nothing happened. They even ignored their friend who was lying on the ground with his nose bleeding profusely.

Howland held Savannah's shoulder and looked at the woman who was still trembling with fear.

"You can walk?" he asked gently.

Savannah was a bit confused about what to answer. She just nodded, but her answer was the opposite of her condition. She actually couldn't walk because she could still remember what had happened to her earlier.

Howland immediately helped Savannah to her feet. His hands tucked into the woman's waist, making her look up. Both of them stared at each other for a moment, feeling and enjoying the heartbeat that they had never felt before. Howland took the initiative to put his other hand behind Savannah's knee and carried her out of the dark road.
