Chapter Three: Confessions and a Secret Promise:

As Jai and I walked into my house, I shut the door lightly, and as soon as I did, she sighed and said," Thank you."

Confused by this thanks, I asked," For what?"

Her head cocked to the side as if to say,'I already know', and boy did she nail it on the head.

She told me in a tone that was of pure trust, " I know that you stink. Stink at lying. So spill it, and tell the truth this time, because if you do, then you'll walk to the club instead.

So what's really going on? I've never seen you this nervous before. It's okay, you can talk to me."

Knowing that I can trust her, I just spewed it out like a volcano, really fast with a lot of words.

"I know that scar. I've seen it on other of my clients at my shop, 'The Silver Needle', and I would ask them where they got them at and they would just give me the nastiest look ever. And they even told me to never ask them that again. I knew in their auras that they were scared about telling me about their scars. And when I saw the same one on your neck, I knew better than to ask you or to bring it up, so yeah. I got kind of scared when I saw that symbol, but you shouldn't tell me anything about it because I don't want to die. At least not soon."

I took a deep breath and continued, " If it's going to get myself or you in trouble, then please, don't tell me. All I know is that a man with that same marking killed my parents when I was about five. It was on his neck, just like yours. But it was on the opposite side. Not to mention, that I was a full witch at the time, so my memory is very good. In fact, I didn't even know that I was even called a witch, but I knew that there was something different about me, different from the other people outside of my family. By the way, my family is all magic. Witches, warlocks, and some wizards. But now that I'm a hybrid of a witch and a werewolf, my life has gotten even more complicated than ever. There are new rules that I have to follow. New faces that I will have to meet. And not to mention, learning how to be part of a pack."

I was breathing heavily at this point, knowing that I had just spilled out my secret about my parents being killed by her dad. The very man I swore I would destroy.

Well, this complicated things to a whole new level.

My childhood friend, who I just found out was a werewolf not long after I was scratched, then bitten later to finish the process, was not only a good person, a best friend, and was an honor role student all through out school, and also let us not forget to mention, she's the daughter of a criminal in both the supernatural and human world.

Robert was a murderer as well as a fierce lover of his women. He was down to one woman, because the others defied him in their own rebellion.

He was also the man who I hated with a burning, raging passion.

And I, Serenity, a witch, oh, hybrid, except everyone, human, witch, werewolf, vampire, and so on and so forth.

But how could a girl like Jai come from a man like him?

That was a mystery that I wanted to know. But I was just too afraid that if I knew too much, then I might be hunted down by a bloodhound bounty hunter.

Now I don't know about that last thought, but I know that wolves have just as much talent to sniff than the next top dog.

As I was lost in my own thoughts in my own little world of chaos, I was brought back to reality by the waving hands of Jai who was speaking, but I didn't hear what she had just said.

With a blank stare, I opened my mouth to speak, and all that came out was,"Huh?"

Jai laughed and repeated, "I said, Earth to Serenity. Are you in there. What were you thinking about girl?"

"Well, I was just in my own little world. I was just thinking about how, well, um, never mind. It's too much for me to ask and for you to answer." I felt very shy and vulnerable right in that very moment all of a sudden.

Jai had a look of concern and complete understanding. She reached out her hands to my bare shoulders, and her heat radiated off her and my powers for reading her emotions made me trust her even more.

She wanted to tell me so bad. She felt like she had to tell me. She had to tell me.

And so she did.

"Can I tell you if you can keep a secret?"

I paused, " Will it get you in trouble, because I really don't want you to get in serious-."

I was cut off by her saying, "Robert is his name. He's my father by blood, but many of the members of his pack are forced into the group by being branded."

She stretched out her neck so that I could get a better look. And then she explained in great detail.

"I was branded the day I was born, but I don't remember getting it. I was told by my dad, if I should even call him that, because, well,."

She leaned in and so did I and she whispered in my ear, " If he ever finds out that I told you this, the consequences would be catastrophic, not only for me, but for you as well. I don't want to think about that, but if he ever found out that you knew our secret, then who knows what could happen."

"I don't even want to know," I said, my voice shaking a bit.

And now I really did need deodorant. Aw heck, skip that step. I needed perfume and body mist.

Peaches should do.

"Hold on. I'm going to get some perfume and deodorant so I won't stink up the car. Or scare Damion away."

Jai laughed, then told me, "Well, don't take too long. Just go get it and bring it in the car. Damion's probably there by now. And by the way you look right now, and what you are about to smell like, and with your pheromones, he's a male, and he'll probably be going into heat. You know what I mean?"

Dying of laughter, I went upstairs to grab my smelly goods and jumped down stairs to get down faster. And I'm glad I did because as soon as I landed, Olivia honked the horn.

"Come on, we don't have all night."

"I'm coming, I'm coming. Hold your horses. You know I have to smell good."

"Yeah, yeah."

They all laughed as I noticed myself hovering off of the ground by a few inches.

"Ooo. We know what that means. You're in love. Puppy love."

Losing control of my emotions was somewhat of a curse for me because I knew that I couldn't hide anything from anyone who really knew me well.

"Oh, come on guys. It's too early to tell if I'm really in love with him."

"Well, you are in for a pleasant surprise when we hit the club."

"Uh oh. Don't tell me he's ready to put a ring on my finger."

"Well, it's not silver, I'll tell you that much."

"So, it's jewelry?"

Silence filled the car, which was my final answer.

But I forgot all about that and focused on keeping Jai's confession a top secret. Biting my tongue, my fangs were aching with the need to bite on something. But I would have to wait until we passed the guards to Lunar City.

Until then, it bite my tongue.
