CHAPTER 5

Jack stands outside duomo when he decides to get in.

Fortunately they are open. It has hardly any people. He

finds a monk inside. Jack asks him for various

information about the cathedral.

Jack Rowland:

How many years have you been here as a monk?

Monk:

I've been around for about 30 years.

Jack Rowland:

Are there enough information about the period of the 18th

century, the Duomo, during which it was built, until it

was completed in 1813?

Monk:

Enough evidence? What exactly do you mean?

Jack Rowland:

Here, for relics, crosses, icons of that period or even

earlier?

Monk:

There is exactly what you see in the temple. There is of

course Peridromos and Crypt, but it is only for the

congregants.

Jack Rowland:

In fact, I understood.

Monk:

But excuse me now, I have to go.

Jack Rowland:

Adieu. Thank you very much. With your help.

A little more time passes and Jack is still in

cathedral, the world is gone, until he finally

head to Peridromos. He goes and initially sees

beautiful sample of the door of a 14th century

the

decides to

a

Lombardy's Lombardy. Nearby are the stairs. They lead to the crypt.

Jack goes down the stairs when suddenly before he gets

them all down he hears a chuck. He doesn't pay much

attention and he keeps going. He sees a crystal coffin,

where inside lies the body of St. Charles Boromeo. He

stays for a while and looks at the coffin. He also sees

the vault. Inside it has reliquaries and utensils for the

liturgy. It goes on a little further there. He searches

for when suddenly behind him a guy catches him from

behind and tries to give him a headlock. Jack immediately

resists and starts fighting with the guy. They are

punched and brutally beaten when the guy picks up the gun

and tries to throw at Jack. It throws and misfires. Then

Jack hits his hand and the gun falls down, away. The guy

tries to escape when Jack pulls out his gun and shoots.

It's wrong. The guy gets away with it.

Jack and Emily drink their coffee in one of Milan's most

beautiful cafes. They drink their coffee while Jack reads

his newspaper. It says nothing about yesterday's

incident. Strange, Jack thinks and closes his newspaper.

Emily Dickinson:

What do you read in the newspaper? does the news say

anything?

Jack Rowland:

No, not anything special. The news as always.

Emily Dickinson:

It has wonderful weather today. Long for a ride really.

Jack Rowland:

You're right Emily. Let's walk a little bit.

Emily Dickinson:

Yes, let's go.

They get up from the café while Jack pays and they leave.

They take a short walk and return to their hotel. They

dine for lunch together and everyone goes to rest in

their rooms.

Jack and Emily are out of Duomo late at night. Jack

glances around and makes sure he's nobody. He then tells

Emily to get in. They go in. Emily climbs to the roof,

and Jack takes down the crypt again. Then he realizes

that he is not alone. Three guys are downstairs and

looking for space. He pulls out his gun directly and

shoots. He succeeds the one. The other two fall on him.

He starts fighting with both of them. One punches him

into the eye and falls down. Suddenly, on the other hand,

Emily hears a noise, but doesn't understand what's going

on. Jack fights with both of them when one bends over and

takes the gun and tries to shoot him . He immediately

bends down and avoids the bullet. He then hits the guy's

hand with his leg. The gun falls off. One guy runs away.

One guy runs and runs away. The other falls unconscious

down. Jack runs to the back of the guy trying to escape.

He then climbs up the roof. He then rises behind him and

the guy runs away. Jack. As soon as Emily sees him, she

makes a cry of terror. The guy runs on the ceiling. Jack

runs behind him to catch him. She then runs downstairs.

Jack and a guy are beaten as they reach the edge of the

roof. The guy hits him hard and manages to escape him.

The guy then descends the roof, reaches down and runs out

of the temple, while he calls somewhere. Jack tries and

recovers . He goes downstairs and finds Emily. They go

down to the crypt. Jack and Emily then search for the

space. They search when suddenly inside the wall Jack

finds something. He pulls the tile out of the wall and

puts his hand inside. He finds a silver box. He takes it

out. Emily goes nearby to see. He opens it and what to

see inside! A golden old cross of heavy historical value.

It is just like the cross he found on the piece of paper.

When he suddenly says.

Jack Rowland:

It's Pontius Pilate's! Well!

Emily Dickinson:

How? What did you say...

Before Dickinson can finish her sentence, steps are

heard. Two types are directed in the darkness near them.

One tries to take the Cross out of Jack's hands. She

leaves him next to Emily and fights with the guy.

Emily then takes him in her hands, while the guy goes to

hit her and picks him up. While Jack is fighting with the

other guy, Emily is down on the floor. The guy with the

cross, has escaped. She recovers and helps Jack. Together

they both hit the other guy. They immobilize him. After

that happens, Jack takes Emily, they climb up the crypt

and leave Duomo. They head to their hotel. They arrive

and enter the hotel.

The day dawns when they will have to get ready to leave

back to the United States of America. The next morning

Jack Rowland receives a phone call from his department.

Alberto Abietto was found dead near Lake Maggiore. The

only evidence found in his possession is his mobile

phone. He writes of an appointment: " 20 December. Time

20:30. New York. Congress. Trump Tauer Building. » Jack

keeps it in his memory.

The next day, in the middle of the airport, Jack and

Emily are waiting for their flight to New York, and they

don't take long to wait and travel by plane back to

America.

After their return from Italy, Emily sleeps in her bed

when suddenly the door of her house knocks. He suddenly

wakes up from the bell and goes to open. He opens the

door and sees a man holding a bouquet and a box. They are

gifts for her.

Emily Dickinson:

Please?

Andras:

Good morning. These are for you. It's by Mr. Jack

Rowland.

Emily Dickinson:

Thank you. A moment...

She goes and takes from her wallet a small tip and gives

it to the man. It closes the door. He holds the roses and

takes the card from inside, while holding the box. He

leaves the flowers in a vase and reads the paper.

Jack Rowland:

For our most beautiful moments, in the moment of Italy,

in our magical evenings. I hope more will be done... J.R.

He writes the paper. She takes the box in her hands and

opens it. It is a very beautiful and expensive bracelet.

Smiling. He goes straight and calls Jack.

Emily Dickinson:

Jack, what did you go and do? I slept when I suddenly

woke up and heard the bell... Thank you so much for your

gifts. I wish that the moments of Italy were just as

magical for you. For me it was.

Jack Rowland:

Haha Emily! I did not know how to wake you up and I said

in this way to show you that all that we lived together

will remain deeply etched in my heart. Haha I wish you

didn't leave the phone...

Emily Dickinson:

Haha no, not here I am. And for me they will remain

engraved...

Jack Rowland:

What would you say if we said it in the next few days? I

don't want us to move away now that we're back to

America.

Emily Dickinson:

Yes, whenever you want. I'll wait for your phone call.

Jack Rowland:

Okay Emily, see you. Have a nice day.

Emily Dickinson:

Good day Jack.

Emily Dickinson hangs up the phone and prepares to take a

shower.

At his home, Jack prepares the overall work on the

evidence he found from his research with Dickinson in

Italy. He stops when he sees the objects he found, and

remembers the cross! Tomorrow he must deliver them to his

service. After he's done with his work he goes and turns

on the TV. He watches some football and sleeps on the

couch.

In the officer's office, Rowland testifies to his work

along with the items he found in the case.

Officer:

Well! You did an incredible job Jack!

Jack Rowland:

But, Mr. Officer, I have not yet been able to find the

culprit of the case. The only part of the case that

shocked me was the finding of the cross of Pontius

Pilate!

Officer:

With the data you had you couldn't do otherwise. Neither

you nor Mrs. Dickinson. I will call her to thank her for

her effort on this trip. I really stayed with my mouth

open! It is one thing to hear it and another to believe

it, that is for the cross! Such a priceless hidden cross

on the wall of Duomo...

Jack Rowland:

Yes, but...

Officer:

I don't hear anything. The blame is not only yours, but

also ours. We have as an element this "treasure" of

religion and you sit down and tell me... You will be

involved in finding the cross and of course with the

strange message found on Abietto' s cell phone. You will

be present personally.

Jack Rowland:

Whatever you say, Mr. Officer.

Officer:

I won't need you anymore. You can go.

Jack Rowland:

In your orders.

Jack Rowland comes out thinking and heads to his office.

He walks in and closes the door.

The same night, Jack is outside Emily's house. He knocks

on the door. Emily opens. She sees Jack for the first

time after the trip and falls into his arms. He starts

kissing her. They close the door and start making love to

the bedroom.

December 20. Jack Rowland is in the living room and

drinks a glass of whiskey when he looks at his watch and

decides to go to his room to get dressed to attend the

conference. She puts on a leather black suit. He also

wears a handkerchief on his neck and comes out of the

house. He enters his Mercedes and drives towards Trump

Tower. He arrives and goes down. He gives the chauffeur

his car. He enters. He looks inside. He looks at the

Tower. He heads to the conference room. He enters the

hall and stands back standing when he sees many political

and non-political figures sitting in the hall in front of

him. Theme of the conference: THE GOVERNMENT CARS OF THE

PRESIDENT OF AMERICA OF THE NEXT YEAR. Rapporteur Andrea

Rosildi . The government cars will be made for next year,

from a construction, design and safety point of view by

Rosildi's company. It will have the latest technology of

the whole earth in terms of safety. And of course it will

be made in Rosildi. Jack does not take long to

understand. Next to him stands a beautiful woman.

Jack Rowland:

My name is Jack Rowland. Could I find out yours?

Jenny Anderson:

I am very pleased. My name is Jenny Anderson. I am the

adopted daughter of Mr Andrea Rosildi.

Jack Rowland:

Very interesting conference. But how about if I had a

drink at the bar?

Jenny Anderson:

Very gladly.

Jack and Jenny exit the room and head to the bar. There

after they have a drink, and they talk in general, Jack

turns around and kisses her. She kisses him too. Suddenly

in the opposite corner and without seeing him, Andrea

Rosildi, sees them and leaves the room. Jenny and Jack

head to her room. There they make love. After they finish

and Jenny is asleep, Jack has a heavy headache. He opens

Jenny's bag to get a Depon, searches and suddenly finds

himself with Depon with Depon and a cross. She turns out

to see him. He is the same as the one he found in Duomo

in the size of a neck. That of Pontius Pilate. She leaves

him in the bag and leaves the room. He goes down the

tower, goes out, tells the chauffeur to bring him his

car, and leaves Trump Tower. He then goes to Central Park

to take a walk, to rip off and pass his head. After he

takes a walk and while he is walking, two guys come and

catch him, while they beat him with fury. They leave him

faint on a bench. He spends some time finding his senses.

He proceeds dragging his steps and reaches his car. He

walks in, starts and heads home.

Jack with his clothes as he was yesterday at the

conference is lying on his bed and sleeping heavily.

After a while he hears the bell of his house ringing.

Wakes up. He opens the door.

Neighbor:

Good morning Mrs. Jack.

Jack Rowland:

Good morning, Mrs. Stevenson. Excuse me for my

appearance...

Neighbor:

Never mind these things happen. We didn't see you so many

days after your return from your trip and I was worried.

I said to make you some cookies. These are for you.

She gives him the cookies. Jack with the cookies in hand.

Jack Rowland:

You know I had you in mind, but due to unfinished

obligations I could not finally see you. Excuse me.

Neighbor:

Never mind Mr. Jack. You guys be well. But I let you

rest. Good morning.

Jack Rowland:

Have a nice day.

Jack walks in and closes the door. He leaves the cookies

in the kitchen. He takes some to a plate and goes to read

his newspaper after he undresses and takes a shower. When

he's done, he gets dressed and sits down to read his

newspaper. On the second page he writes about the Rosildi

conference, and he even writes that mr Rosildi will be

abroad today. Jack Rowland decides in the evening to

visit his daughter Rosildi at her home.

Jack is outside the mansion of Jenny Anderson, her father

Andrea Rosildi. He rings the bell. The clerk asks him who

he is and what he wants.

Official:

Please, what would you like?

Jack Rowland:

Excuse me, I'd like Mrs. Jenny Anderson, I'm a friend of

hers.

Official:

Mrs. Anderson is missing right now. It's in the theater.

Jack Rowland:

Yes. Thank you.

Jack leaves the door and gets into his car, which is

parked a little further there, without being seen at the

door. She sits inside and waits for Anderson to come back

from her walk. Soon a white Rolls Royce arrives.

Immediately he comes out and sits in front of the

entrance. Then Jenny sees him and gets out of the car.

She tells him to pass through Rolls Royce. He walks in

and together they enter the mansion inside. Jack is

speechless with the riches of the mansion. Jenny yells at

him near her. She goes. She gives him a drink. They both

drink. They both start and kisses him. He then starts

kissing him. He kisses her too. They make her love in the

bedroom. She sleeps. He is left alone at home. He enters

Rosildi's office and starts searching. He searches for

and finally finds an object that impresses him. It is the

Cross of the Order of the Knights Templar. Rosildi has it

in a prominently exposed position. Rowland has not stayed

in the room for much longer. After leaving the office he

headed to the entrance of the mansion and left it.

The next morning he finds Jack Rowland in his office with

the police. There, engrossed in his work, he seeks to

find more details about the cross of the Order of the

Knights Templar, which he saw yesterday at the house of

Rosildi. He searches his computer when he finds himself

saying this: The knights templar of the Temple are one of

the first military battalions in history. It was founded

in 1118 AD with the aim of helping the Christian kingdom

of Jerusalem to maintain itself against Muslimism. To

help and ensure the safe and free attendance of the large

number of European pilgrims who traveled to Jerusalem

after its conquest by the Crusaders. He reads that it is

a parallel body of Freemasonry. He decides to enter the

sanctuaries of Freemasonry in order to understand what

Rosildi has to do with her, and it doesn't take long for

him to call Emily Dickinson and ask her to go on a date.

Emily Dickinson:

Yes, Jack?

Jack Rowland:

Good evening Emily. I have been thinking about you for

the last few days, and I have understood how much I miss

you. How about if we met in the evening for a drink?

Emily Dickinson:

Jack, how many days we have to tell them. You really

missed me too. Yes, I would also like us to meet tonight.

After all, it's Friday. What's better?

Jack Rowland:

Nice Emily. I'll pass by to get you out of the house to

go for the drink.

Jack Rowland is outside Emily Dickinson's house and

knocks on the door. He knocks on the door. After a while

Emily opens and goes out. She closes the door and kisses

Jack. They board Jack's car and head to the bar. They

arrive at the Smalls bar in New York. They come in and

sit at a table. There Jack orders two whiskies. They

drink while he doesn't stop looking at Emily. After a

while he tells her.

Jack Rowland:

Christmas days and always religious holidays for me are

something special. For you how special are they?

Emily Dickinson:

They are valuable to me and absolutely necessary. More of

course at Christmas. A celebration of joy. I believe

deeply. You?

Jack Rowland:

Oh, and I believe deeply and firmly. But lately the germ

came into me to inculcate in Freemasonry. I'd like to

know about him.

Emily Dickinson:

Haha very interesting Jack. And I believe the same. A!

Your drink came.

The bartender gives him his drink. He drinks. They listen

to Jazz music. After the evening is over they leave the

bar. They get into the car and Jack takes Emily to her

house. He leaves her and leaves.

Lunch is also being prepared at noon in Rosildi's mansion

. He is with his wife in the living room, while his daughter has gone on a short vacation on a trip to Los

Angeles. In a little while the servant appears. He heads

to the living room. Then he says.

Servant:

Excuse me for the annoyance, but lunch is ready. Will you

pass to serve?

Andrea Rosildi:

Yes, you can serve Dimitri. Let's go eat.

He tells his wife and they head to the dining room. After

they sit down and their servants serve, Rosildi tells his

servants.

Andrea Rosildi:

In the evening I want you to prepare the table for the

cards. I'll have visits tonight and I want everything to

be perfect. Okay?

Servant:

Of course, Mr. Rosildi, everything will be ready to

perfection.

Andrea Rosildi:

I want you to get my car ready for me. In a little while

I will go out. I have an unhooked obligation.

Servant:

Yes, sir. I will prepare it for you.

Rosildi heads to his office to pick up some of his

belongings and leaves by car, and his wife, after getting

up from the table, headed to her bedroom.

At the same time, Emily is at her house and watching TV.

Suddenly he decides to call Jack to arrange a "special"

appointment with him.

Jack Rowland:

Yes, Emily? What a surprise is that? How come you

remembered me?

Emily Dickinson:

Ahh Jack always adventurous and grumpy. It's Saturday

today. Rest day. What would you say if tomorrow you met

me on a "special" date?

Jack Rowland:

I am happy and I would have liked to. But what do you

mean when you say "special", something to rejoice in?

Emily Dickinson:

Haha Jack, but of course it's for joy. But I can't tell

you more, we'll see you in the evening.

Jack Rowland:

Okay Emily. See you in the evening. Good follow-up until

then.

Emily Dickinson:

Good follow-up Jack.

In the evening he arrived at the mansion of shipowner

Rosildi, and everything is ready for the evening with the

gambling. Rosildi has returned from his appointment and

is in his office. On the other hand, the visitors slowly

begin to reach the house. They arrive at the house. The

servants begin and open to everyone who comes. After the

last one arrives Rosildi who is with them in the living

room, Says.

Andrea Rosildi:

Dear friends, we can move on to the table.

They pass by and sit at the table. Then Rosildi , after

shuffling the cards, deals the deck and says.

Andrea Rosildi:

Today's holiday days and I wouldn't want to spend this

evening unnecessarily. What would you say if we bet

something more on today's night?

Friend:

Of course we would like to. After all, we get used to

this anniversary table every year.

The servant brings the drinks to the guests and leaves

the nuts. Men start playing cards.

That same night, Emily is outside Jack's house. She

knocks on the door while her car is with the engine and

lights on. It doesn't take long for Jack to open up to

her.

Emily Dickinson:

I wasn't late like that? Come on, I'm waiting for you,

let's go. I hope you're ready.

Jack Rowland:

No, it didn't take long for Emily. At this time I was

waiting for you. I'm ready yes, I'm coming.

Jack enters Emily's Maserati and they head to the Grand

Masonic Lodge of New York. Emily halfway through asks

Jack to put a handkerchief in his eyes. He puts it. Soon

they arrive at Grand Masonic Lodge. . Emily gets out of

the car and goes to open the door to Jack. He opens it

and goes out. She holds him in a hug and, with his eyes

blindfolded, takes him into the building. After they

enter the building, she asks him to take off his

handkerchief. He pulls it out. Then Emily says.

Emily Dickinson:

We are here. The Grand Masonic Lodge of New York, the

largest and oldest independent organization of

Freemasons, was the most majestic lodging once in the

world.

Jack Rowland:

Unbelievable Emily! What you did today was unbelievable!

45 years in New York and I never happened to visit this

building. Amazing! But how do you...

Emily Dickinson:

I have been following the Freemason for some years and

this building was one of the first to learn about

Freemasonry.

Jack Rowland:

Yes. Very nice Emily.

Emily Dickinson:

You had told me the other day that we had come out, that

you would like to know more about Freemasonry and so I

decided.

Jack Rowland:

You said many years. And what does one have to do to

become a "member" of it?

Emily Dickinson:

He must be recommended by an already member of

Freemasonry in order for his application for admission to

the Lodge to be accepted.

Jaxk Rowland:

Yes. Understand. What if I ask for it?

Emily Dickinson:

Then yes, it is accepted. That's all for today. What

would you say if we went?

Jack Rowland:

Yes we go.

Jack and Emily leave the building and take a walk in the

surrounding area.

At the other end, on the other hand, in the mansion of

shipowner, the game ended with the shipowner as the

winner.
