Who's Guilty?

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

On hearing the news of Joan's death the next day, Joan's father fainted, developed a serious heart attack which led to stroke.

Some of Joan's employees resigned and took to other jobs.

Jim never thought about life and it's necessities again as the thought of everything tore him apart.

He almost dried up all the tears in his eyes. He wanted to just vanish out of this world. His eyes had bulged out like that of an owl, he had gotten high blood pressure, fever, headache and saw no use of going to the hospital.

"Jim, Joan is dead..." Umaru was interrupted.

"Don't you dare say that to me! If you are here to remind me of that just get out!" Jim barked at Umaru who had came to console him.

"I'm sorry, poor Jim! The only thing you can do for her now is to do an investigation about her death since she was poisoned" Umaru suggested.

"Wait, the doctor said that the poison in her system kills it's victim within 24 hours... And Joan went to somewhere and didn't get the chance to tell me... Wait! She talked about Mama. Where's her phone? Where did I keep it?" Jim said and acted crazy. He went to his cupboard where he kept Joan's phone and immediately went through her call history as Umaru watched in confusion.

"This is the call she had in the morning before calling me the day before she died...wait, I will call the number with my phone" Jim said as he took his phone and dialed the number but the number appeared saved in his phone.

"Mama?" Jim shouted in anger.

"Your mother? I thought they didn't like her?" Umaru asked in confusion.

Jim didn't answer that question as he concentrated on calling Joan's driver.

"Oga good afternoon" The driver said over the phone.

"Yes. Where did you take your madam to the day before yesterday?" Jim asked imperatively.

"Ah Oga I didn't take her to anywhere o... She only say make I take her to the Airport that she had a flight to Owerri Airport by 2:30" The driver said.

"Ok" Jim said and ended the call.

"So what next?" Umaru asked with curiosity.

"Give me the Inspector's number right now, I have some murderers to arrest" Jim said with full rage.

"Please be careful" Umaru said.
