Between politics and cultures around the world, a particular place is filled with every knowledge possible you can gather. It's located in a isolated island between the two main continents of Elaria, the world of the mortals, where this story is main settled.
Warden Reef is the name of the island, and within, there's a small population of gifted people, some of them born inside the isle, some that came from outside. They're all gathered by a common objective: The Witch Academy - The place where everyone can learn about magic and their roles in different planes of creation.
Even though the academy is well known around the world, only those gifted with magic can cross the veil between the island and the rest of the world. Such place with vast knowledge has always been kept in safety from the danger outside, for the greed of many humans almost brought disgrace to this land before. That story however is not our focus in this tale we're beginning right now. That one I can tell you another day if I manage to be alive for another century.
This tale is about a young witch apprentice whose life is going to change drastically after a dramatic turn of events. Her name? Azura Star, the eldest child of the Astra Clan. But before diving deep into Azura's Adventure, let's have a quick witch lesson.
The first question would be: What is the Witch Academy?
The academy is a place filled with magic and built with the purpose of gathering those around the world gifted with such power to learn about it, control it and using for the sake of our mortal plane, Elaria. In a world such as yours, in which magic is forgotten, you people would call it School, College, or something to that extent.
How do I know about your world? Well, that's part of my role as a witch! We travel around our world to keep the balance within, but sometimes we need to balance things outside too, and your world is one of those places that needed constant attention. Even though the magic there is pretty much forgotten, we always keep our eyes open for anything that might break the balance.
Ah yes! Since we're in the topic of different planes, let me briefly explain why we need to keep balance, shall we?
Yours is a mortal plane such as ours, but there are other realms around the cosmos, those are often related to the prime elements. The five Reigns of Fire, Water, Wind, Lightning and Earth are what gives everything else its magic. If a plane is connected with those realms, magic will always exist. There are other planes, but they're... quite complicated to deal with. They're related mostly to ideas, such Life and Death, Light and Shadow. Those are what shape our reality and we can't control.
The Witch Academy students are here to learn about those planes, the magic we can use and what you're going to do after your rite of passage is finally finished, which is the start of our story!
What's the purpose of a Witch after the rite of passage? You see, not only we study the five reigns of elements, but we align ourselves with one of them in the end, giving you the task of not only keeping that realm under control, but channeling the source to bend the element. We use that to keep the elements at bay. With no witch to control it, an element could spontaneously bring disaster to innocent beings.
