He finally pulled away and looked at her face. He smiled at her flushed and dumbstruck expression. Her lips parted like she is going to say something but no word left her lips. She opened her mouth again and closed it.

Calvin wasn't sure if he should believe the maid. Ellie had been working for him for years and he had no reason not to trust her, but he's not going to take any risk, this is not the time to trust people. 


"Why did you say so?" Grandma asked Marian with furrowed brows. She almost fell down when Calvin said that Allison might lose the baby if not that Naomi and Kylie quickly held her. She also didn't know whether to believe the maid. 


"Ellie was the one who cooked for her last night, she was also the one that served her, so I believe it is her." 


"Ellie what do you have to say?" Calvin asked, trying to be calm. 


"I didn't do it," She said. Her gaze darted towards Mariam in shock. 


"And why should I believe you? When did you begin to cook? Isn't that Isaac's duty?" Calvin inquired. 


"I saw ma'am Allison making dinner in the kitchen last time and I asked her to rest and I decided to help her, that's all."
