Chapter 27: The Ride

-Molly’s POV-

My mother didn’t have a problem with me taking a taxi home. But Scott's slight growl through the phone told me he did not like it at all.

"Molly, I want you to get up and step away from your mother... NOW," he told me in a firm, unbending tone.

I wanted to argue... was DYING to argue with him. But sitting right in front of my mother, there was nothing I could do. The only logical course of action WAS to get up and walk away.

"I'll be right back," I told her and quickly walked away.

As soon as I got far enough away, I finally spoke again. "What are you doing?"

"I was going to ask you the same question, Molly. You are arguing with me on the matter of your care. YOUR safety. Why?" Scott demanded.

"Because!!!" I sighed harshly. "I'm fine, Scott. I can take a taxi home."

"It's just as easy for you to tell me where you are and let me come get you. So, I'm guessing this has something to do with me. Why don't you tell me what's going on?" he asked pointedly.
