Chapter 12

"Ava!" I can not let her down again. She is already upset with me and now I've caused her to crumble to the ground.

I've left Ava downstairs in hopes of talking some sense into my sister's head inorder to get these two to straighten things out between them, but it seems that I'm doing more harm than good.

Ava's rushed footfalls resound throughout the house and they are getting louder by the second.

By the time she stands in the doorway, she is panting heavily and actively trying to regain her posture.

I try to get out words, but I'm rendered speechless as the stress consumes me.

"Help me get her onto her bed," Ava instructs as she takes hold of Camílla's left arm. I instinctively take a hold of her right arm as we guide her onto her bed.

I can hear her erratic heartbeat and her breath hitching in the back of her throat.
