When she got to the entrance of the club, she flashed her ID at the bouncer standing by the door. But, she didn't need to because the guard already recognized who she was.
"Damn, man. You're the Vivienne that everyone's talking about. Crazy!" Then he poked his head in and called one of the bouncers who immediately came out to see the famous Vivienne and soon, she was surrounded by a crowd of people who wanted autographs, pictures and a few other people who had already started recording live videos.
The noise was maddening, coupled with the splitting headache she had come out with. She regretted not taking Adderall and hiding her identity with a sunshade and a baseball hat.
Scrap the sunshades. No one wore that at night.
In the midst of the whole bustling, a group of men dressed in black suits stormed out of the club and began pushing at everyone. Vivienne's arm was grabbed and soon, she had been extracted from the noisy crowd about to swallow her in a matter of minutes.
If these men were actually here for her, she was going to make sure she got each and everyone of them presents for being sweet and considerate enough to pick her out.
But when she looked up to thank the man holding her, he wasn't smiling. His jaw was set and he looked like one of those assassins you saw in movies.
And he was still pulling her by the arm, past the crowd of partying people. She tried to pull away but a look from him made her stop.
"Where am I being taken to?"
"Aren't you Vivienne? You said you were going to be here in thirty minutes. It's ten minutes past that."
She suddenly became alert. On a normal day, she would have slipped out her phone to check the time for confirmation but right now, her senses were at work. Hyper.
She became extremely careful around him. Keeping quiet as he took her up to the gallery where people drank and talked in high tones. Turning back, her eyes scanned the area and she saw other men dressed similarly following after her as they pushed past people who stood in their way.
They got to a door. Vivienne read the embossed letters that said, 'Exclusive'. This must be where they had kept Eva and Vivienne hoped her secretary was safe.
The tall, beefy man standing by the door nodded at the man holding Vivienne before opening the door to reveal a dark room. They both stepped in and the door was shut. Every of the sound from the main club was eliminated and it felt like they had just entered into a portal leading to another world. The lack of noise was a relief to her ears.
The man holding her cleared his throat and immediately, blue light flooded the room.
Before Vivienne was a large desk and behind the large desk was someone on a swivel chair. The back of the chair was turned against them and it seemed like whoever was seated there was busy watching the night life of New York City.
"Boss." The man holding her who had just released her arm from his grip said, bowing slightly. "She has arrived."
A few seconds passed before he turned. This slight act made Vivienne annoyed. Who did he think he was to make her go through all these stress?
"Where's she?" Viviennne asked before the man could even speak.
"Mind your speech, woman." The man said to her in a dead tone. His voice was very deep and Vivienne calculated his age and placed him in the mid thirties.
Viviennne shut her mouth. Then be gestured to one of the chairs placed in front of the desk and the man holding her pushed her to it.
Viviennne gave him a glare before turning to take her seat. Oh, how she would have loved to bring this to Marcus' notice. She had been so stupid to do this discreetly. But the deed had been done. All she needed to do right now was act wisely. Eva's life was on the line.
A click of his finger sent the only man standing in the room out.
"I'm going to make this short." The man began, placing his elbows on his desk and staring at her intently. His gaze made her more afraid because they held no form of emotions. There was a gash running across his face, above his nasal bridge and this made Vivienne wonder what sort of things he had done in the past to get such scar. "I need document of ownership of your company."
Viviennne, felt something shift. She didn't know if it was her body temperature or the temperature in the room. But she suddenly felt the temperature drop while she sweated. That occurrence was not a natural phenomenon.
"What?" She whispered in shock. Was that they reason they had kidnapped Eva? Why did they not come directly to her? Things were not turning out good.
How was she going to let her years of sweat go just like that because some evil person wanted her company? Her hands began to tremble she squeezed her fingers to stop herself from showing her fears.
"Who sent you?"
All she heard was the clink of a lighter and soon, he was lighting the end of his blunt and puffing out flavoured smoke onto her face. Vivienne was no detered. Infact, she leaned forward and stared him dead in the eye even though she was close to having a breakdown.
"Who sent me is none of your business. All I want from you are the documents."
Vivienne stood up from the chair, upsetting it and causing it to screech against the tiled floor. "You can't just call me here and tell me this piece of bullshit!"
The door opened slightly and one of the men dressed in black suit poked his head in. Their boss gave him a wave of dismissal.
As soon as the door was shut, the man gave her a look. "There's no need for you to go ballistic. Because you are in an environment that gives you the freedom to speak to me in such manner doesn't warrant your rudeness. Now, I am going to be clear with you. If I don't get those documents in twenty-four hours, I'll make sure that each and everyone of the people important to you would bear the brunt of it. You're going to watch people die and you're going to beg for death."
"Oh, really?" Vivienne said in a mock tone. "I am so scared, I'm literally shaking."
She heard a scoff escape his mouth. "Careful, there."
"Now, you better tell me where exactly you kept my secretary and make sure she's alive with not a single scratch."
"You'll see her very soon. But, that'll be after you agree to make this signature." The man said and whipped out a white paper that looked blue under the light. He placed it on the table and a pen beside it. "You're going to sign this, agreeing that you have handed over everything in your company over to this person. It's a transfer of ownership letter. Once you're done signing, I'll take you to your friend and we'll wait for you for twenty four hours to bring the file containing your company's documents. "
Viviennne was suddenly still. How was she going to hand over her company to some entity she had no idea about? That was incredulous.
Somewhere at the back of her mind, she wished it was all a dream. She wished it was a nightmare she would wake up from and laugh at how real it felt.
She gave the paper a quick glance. And when she got to the last paragraph, she was paralyzed by the name the paper said she would be transferring ownership too and was paralyzed.
