Chapter 5

🌷🌷🌷

Olivia's POV

When the lunch bell rang today, as it did yesterday, I quickly got my lunch and sat under the bleachers, hiding from everyone while I eat in peace. I didn't wanna tell Rosalie the reason I was actually in pain. I don't need anyone's sympathy. Especially hers.

After the incident with Lucinda this afternoon, I quickly raced home to shower before work. My family doesn't know that I work. If they did, they would take my money that I would've worked hard for, so it's good that the diner I work at is near the outskirts of town.

My family would never come here, if one could call them that. When they ask where I was most of the afternoon, I just tell them I have to stay behind at school for after school activities that will help me graduate school and go to college.

Two hours later, I finally reached work. My boss is a very wonderful, kind old lady. She's 68 and she's like a grandmother to me. She prefers everyone who works here, to call her grandma Mollie.

But holy crap she has a mouth, they way she curses is enough to make a sailor blush and can be very inappropriate too, but it's hilarious.

While I'm waiting behind the counter for my next customer's meal to cook, I hear the office door close.  "Ah, there you are sweet pea!" She beams at me as she turns the corner and walks behind the counter, towards me. "I've been meaning to ask you something." She whispers, stepping close to me.

"I've got a date tonight and I can't remember if it's a good thing or not, to put out tonight." She asks as I shake my head with amusement. Omg.

I wrote on my notepad that I use, to take orders and showed her my answer. "Um, I think it would be best to wait till the third date, to put out grandma Mollie."

"Your right! I should make the bugger wait!" She affirm's, looking towards the entrance. When I move my head to see what or who she's looking at I realise it's Rosalie. My eyes go wide like saucers.

"Ooo, look who just walked in, she seems like your type." She says turning to me, wiggling her eyebrows up and down. "Shoo, let me work." I respond using my notepad.

"Alright, alright." She says walking away. "But if you don't ask her out, I will." She turns to me smirking mischievously, before she turns around again to head to her office. That cheeky old hag.

I quickly turn to the register and act like I'm busy, pretending that I didn't notice her. Just as I was about to walk away from extreme anxiety, she speaks. "Hey cutie, I'm a little sad I didn't get a thank you yesterday."

Who does this girl think she is? I'm not just gonna run into her arms just because she saved me from getting hurt two times. What if she's just like them and is pretending to be nice to me, help me and then break my heart.

I can't let that happen again. I can't go through another heartbreak.

So I grab my notepad out and showed her my answer. "Can't talk, I'm working." Thankfully after she read my answer, the chef behind me in the kitchen rang the bell to tell me, my customers' food are ready.

I turned around to grab the plates on the open window sill that shows the kitchen and took them to my customers that were waiting. "Sorry for the wait, we're pretty packed today." I wrote in my notepad then showed them, after I put down their food.

"Took you long enough, I've been waiting for 30 minutes!" He shouts at me. My customers are a guy and probably his teenage daughter who is maybe around 12 and he's probably in his forties.

The man is overweight, has brown eyes with hair that is bald in the middle, with a few long strands of hair combed over it. The teenage girl is pretty, so probably got her looks from her mother. She has green eyes, brown hair, with dark blue streaks.

"I know sir, I'am very sorry but as I said, we are really packed today." I write in my notepad then show him. I hate confrontation.

"No! Your just not doing your job right!" He shouts louder, making a scene while I'm on the verge of tears. "Let me speak to your manger!" He requested loudly.

I go to respond again using my notepad but I'm stopped by Rosalie. "How about you eat your dinner you fat cunt, who's hair looks like a half sucked mango and get the fuck out of this diner!" Rosalie's face is fuming with anger. She looks like a predator ready to devour her prey.

The middle aged man shrinks into his seat and starts to eat his dinner, as does his daughter. Rosalie grabs my arm and walks me over to an empty corner of the diner while I try to blink my tears away. "Are you okay gorgeous?" She asks as I blush at her endearment. I nod with tears in my eyes then proceed to blink them away.

"I don't believe you." She says, but I don't answer her. "Fine. At least take my order, I'm starving." She says playfully then goes to sit down at a empty booth. I roll my eyes playfully, then go to take her order.

The night goes on and Rosalie keeps trying to get an answer out of me while I work. Can't she see that I'm busy working. Can't she ask tomorrow?

I'am not keen for school tomorrow.
