After a few hours, the group set up a few tents and planned to get some rest. Nie Li went to cultivate as usual while Alan got up secretly as well.
He was moving in the opposite direction of Nie Li.
After twenty minutes of cultivation, Nie Li smelled a strange odor. He moved around to check the area and found some fur of the Fox Bear Demon Beast.
Suddenly, there was a loud roar from the camp's direction. Nie Li's eyes widened as he returned to the camp and saw four Fox Bears attacking the camp.
The Silver Ranked Cultivators were the main force that fought the Fox Bears, while the Bronze Ranked Cultivators ran around to preserve their lives.
Chen Linjian was fighting valiantly as he slew one of those four Fox Bears.
Nie Li was startled as he witnessed a fox bear attacking Ye Ziyun. However, Nie Li was too far away and could only shout with all his might, "Ziyun! Watch out!"
Just when the Fox Bear's paw was about to slash Ye Ziyun, a shadowy figure suddenly appeared and brought Ye Ziyun out of the attack's way. The attack struck that person's back and scraped it slightly.
When Ye Ziyun opened her eyes, she saw Alan holding her tightly. She was surprised to witness this as no man had ever grabbed her body, let alone so tightly. But Ye Ziyun soon realized the situation and was thankful to him for saving her. She was shocked to see three slashes on his back, blood gushing out rapidly.
"Are you alright?" Ye Ziyun asked worriedly.
"We need to get out of here. These are Silver Ranked Demon Beasts. If we stay here, we will only hold back our comrades," Alan spoke to all their Bronze Ranked comrades.
All of them instantly left the camp and let the Silver Rank Cultivators deal with these Fox Bears. Nie Li saw Ye Ziyun and Alan running together.
Nie Li tried to follow the two, but a strong shockwave suddenly struck him, and he was hurled away. By the time he got up, Nie Li lost sight of the two. He tried to follow them based on the tracks, but he soon found out that he was following fake tracks.
Alan accomplished this through Zila's assistance.
While they were running, Alan suddenly showed some weakness and fell over Ye Ziyun's body. Ye Ziyun was startled, but she understood it must be because of that slash earlier. Her gaze softened as she picked him up and slowly brought him away.
She had no idea that Alan was intentionally acting weak. He wasn't injured and it wasn't the least bit hurting.
"…It will be okay. We will survive," Ye Ziyun kept on muttering these words to Alan.
Meanwhile, Alan was using his Soul Force to scan the area and check if there were any other demon beasts in the area. Fortunately, there were none.
The Fox Bears had a rather wide territory, and no beast would dare to trespass it!
Ye Ziyun soon stopped and decided to rest under a large tree. She laid Alan on the ground and couldn't help but admire his face.
Under the moonlight, Alan's face seemed absolutely gorgeous. His heartbeat quickened a bit and a deep blush appeared on her cheeks.
'I-I can stare at him as much as I want. Nobody will ever know,' Ye Ziyun thought.
She had no idea that someone was indeed watching her and informing Alan about this. Zila.
Zila didn't just need Alan's eyes to see the world. She could use his Soul Force as well. This was exactly what she was doing.
'Woah, master! You are a genius! She really is gazing at you!'
Alan spoke to Zila in his mind, 'I know. I have a good idea of her character. Ye Ziyun is an extremely shy girl who won't do what she wants in someone's presence. Instead, she would reveal her true character when she feels that she is all alone. Solitude is actually her safe zone.'
When Alan asked Zila to check what Ye Ziyun was doing, he also ordered her to read his mind. He knew that if his mouth moved even slightly, it would break this illusion.
At this moment, Alan was getting Ye Ziyun used to his presence.
After nearly half an hour, Alan slowly opened his eyes and groggily asked, "Where are we?"
"…I don't know. We are somewhere in the west of our camp," Ye Ziyun responded a bit shakily. She helped Alan get up.
"Does it hurt anymore?" Ye Ziyun asked softly.
"Not much now," Alan responded.
He stood up with Ye Ziyun's help and slowly pulled her closer to him, "Thanks for carrying me all the way here. You saved my life."
Ye Ziyun could feel her skin tingling and her heart beating crazily. Her snow white skin was turning redder with each passing second as the gap between her and Alan became shorter.
She responded to Alan's words with soft tone, "…No. You got hurt trying to save me in the first place."
Alan slowly whispered in Ye Ziyun's ears, "There were Fox Bears nearby when I collapsed. But you held on and carried me all the way here. Safe. You are brave, strong, and truly talented."
He continued to pull Ye Ziyun's body towards himself rather gently, but she didn't reject him. In fact, she enjoyed it.
Ye Ziyun was loving his touch as Alan's fingers tracing her waist and back.
The two paused for a few moments while looking into each other's eyes.
Ye Ziyun could see what Alan was saying without him even opening his mouth. It was all automatic.
He was telling her to make a choice!
She did think of Xiao Ning'er as she didn't want to steal Alan away from her. But a few seconds later, Ye Ziyun countered this thought with another thought that Alan's choice mattered as well.
"W-We can't. It wouldn't be right," A shy individual like Ye Ziyun couldn't act according to her feelings.
But Alan anticipated that much earlier and whispered softly, "We wouldn't be like this if you didn't want this to happen."
And before Ye Ziyun had the chance to register what his words meant, Alan closed the gap between their lips and the two started to kiss each other passionately.
Alan kissed her and Ye Ziyun finally let go of her fear and shyness before kissing him back passionately.
The two took a short pause to grab some air, "This is more like it." Alan whispered before they went back to kissing again. This time, even more passionately.
Alan breached Ye Ziyun's mental barriers one by one.
