After dealing with Shen Xiu, Alan left the meeting hall. He decided to conduct an investigation of his own.
This investigation focused on the terrifying threat of Glory City. The Dark Guild.
The Dark Guild's presence near the Ancient Orchid City Ruins alerted Alan to their presence and power. There was a Gold Rank Warrior in a random group of the Dark Guild.
This indicated that there was a good chance of them having a Black Gold Rank member as their division leader or a vice leader. The leader could even be a Legend Ranked Expert.
After returning to the Glory City, Alan remained alert and had already ordered Zila to search for their presence.
It cost him 3,000 Celestial Points. Alan agreed to the cost as he believed it was necessary to find more regarding the Dark Guild.
And for this task, Alan wasn't trusting anyone but himself. Thus, he didn't mention to anyone that he was looking for the Dark Guild.
It had been one week and a bit more before Alan could sense the whereabouts of one of the Dark Guild's members.
Surprisingly, this Dark Guild member Alan sensed was actually quite close to the Sacred Family's estate. He wasn't alone. He was accompanied by nearly seventeen fighters.
And before long, the Dark Guild's members actually entered a secret mansion in the back of the Sacred Family's main estate. This was actually the previous mansion that was soon going to be demolished.
Alan's eyes widened slightly as he sensed another presence in that mansion. It was Shen Hong!
He instantly understood something. Shen Hong was either conducting a secret deal with the Dark Guild, or he was a part of it.
Alan soon walked towards that secret mansion. He activated the Shadow Devil Demon Spirit's Void-Form ability before sneaking into that mansion.
Alan was completely undetectable in his Void-Form ability, so no one felt anything amiss as he walked right past the Dark Guild's members.
He was about to enter the meeting hall where Shen Hong met up with the Dark Guild's members, but he suddenly paused.
[Warning! An inscription pattern is set on the door's handle. An alarm will ring in the entire mansion if you touch the handle without wearing certified gloves with a specific inscription pattern on it.]
"I see…" Alan frowned slightly. This was proving to be a bit more difficult than he imagined.
"Amplify my ears to hear what they are talking about," Alan ordered Zila.
Alan received a notification from the system. The system was asking for 100 Celestial Points in return for amplifying his ears.
Alan immediately gave his confirmation and received a significant boost in hearing. He could now eavesdrop his father's conversation with that man.
"…What did you find in there?" Shen Hong asked the men kneeling ahead of him.
The man Alan had sensed suddenly stood up and spoke, "…Vice-Master, those kids wiped the entire place clean. Nearly all the valuables were taken away, but we did find some gold and resources. The Dark Guild has decided to keep them."
"Good. I will use my family's influence to find what the other family's heirs have found from the Ancient Orchid City Ruins and contribute it to the Dark Guild. I hope to count on your help in the future," Shen Hong spoke with a serious tone.
"Haha… That's only natural, Vice-Master. If not for you, surviving in the Glory City would be extremely challenging, let alone earning such a fine income as well," The Dark Guild's member spoke with a gleeful tone.
"Good," Shen Hong nodded. His purpose in joining the Dark Guild couldn't be clearer.
He required manpower to sabotage others' businesses or suppress them. Meanwhile, the Dark Guild required a stable flow of income and someone who would keep them away from their pursuers. This was something Shen Hong could easily accomplish by using the Sacred Family's influence.
Unfortunately, things had changed for the worse ever since that explosion in the Sacred Family's forest occurred.
The Snow Wind Family and all the other Noble Families suspected that the Dark Guild was behind this explosion.
Thus, the security in the Glory City had tightened as the Snow Wind Family became serious about uprooting the Dark Guild from the Glory City.
Many members had already been caught already. So, the Dark Guild's members were a lot more cautious when walking in public. They made sure to wear long clothing, a hat, and large sunglasses to prevent anyone from instantly identifying them.
"Any immediate task for us, Vice-Master?" Another member of the Dark Guild asked. He seemed a bit eager for a mission.
"…Yes. I do have a mission for you. I want you to suppress the Ao Cloud Family to ensure that they don't join the Divine Family. Just scare them a bit and don't harm them. If the Ao Cloud Family's members are harmed, the commotion will reach the Snow Wind Family. And dealing with the Snow Wind Family would be troublesome for me," Shen Hong spoke.
"Alright. We shall scare him a bit then. But we are allowed to kill the guards, right?" Another Dark Guild member asked.
"No. Just injure them. Death would make a big deal out of it," Shen Hong instantly rejected that idea and gave his opinion about it.
"Also, try your best to prevent them from finding that you are from Dark Guild. If the Ao Cloud Family realizes that they are targeted by the Dark Guild, they will run crying towards the Snow Wind Family," Shen Hong alerted the Dark Guild's members.
The Dark Guild's members assured Shen Hong that this mission would be completed without an issue.
Meanwhile, Alan heard this entire conversation. He soon returned to his room while thinking deeply.
He was considering whether he should interfere in this matter or not.
From that conversation, he gained a lot of significant information.
Apparently, Shen Hong was a part of the Dark Guild. Moreover, his position in the Dark Guild seemed quite high. The Dark Guild shouldn't purposely target a Sacred Family's member.
'I can still use them, though,' Alan thought with a smile.
