Allegations

Four days passed by in the blink of an eye.

Alan spent quite some time with Xiao Ning'er, while avoiding Ye Ziyun. He noticed that Ye Ziyun seemed extremely confused at this moment.

He was sure that she would reach her breaking point soon. But before, he had to handle an event that was much more interesting.

This event centered around Yang Xin.

Shen Xiu just informed Alan that the task was done and gave him a detailed report on how she had trapped Yang Xin.

Alan smirked upon hearing the report before walking out of the Sacred Family's Mansion. He was heading towards the Alchemy Association.

The guards at the Alchemy Association stopped him for a few seconds and checked his identity before letting Alan enter the building.

Alan asked for Director Yang Xin's office and entered it. It seemed that Yang Xin was busy creating some pellets, so Alan decided to wait in her office.

After an hour, Yang Xin arrived. She showed a calm expression while gazing at Alan. It didn't seem as if she was surprised to see him here.

Alan guessed that someone must have informed her that he was here, and she had already settled her mind.

"What brought you here, Young Master Shen Yue?" Yang Xin asked with a neutral tone. She certainly wasn't affected by Alan's identity as the young master of the Sacred Family. She was just being polite by referring to him with that title.

Alan smiled in response and spoke, "My purpose for coming here was to have a conversation with you."

"Then please speak," Yang Xin spoke coldly.

"I just have a few questions for you. It's related to the five new pellets that the Alchemy Association has introduced. Am I right to assume that you are given control of distributing and selling these pellets to customers?" Alan asked.

"…That's correct," Yang Xin took an uncharacteristically long pause before answering Alan's question.

She then quickly spoke, "Is this regarding the low quota assigned to the Sacred Family? I believe I clarified myself when I informed Elder Wen that the Alchemy Association is distributing the pellets to many families. I can't increase the quota for the Sacred Family yet."

Alan chuckled upon hearing those words. He spoke, "No. It's not regarding that. But I guess you might have to explain yourself again after this conversation."

Yang Xin seemed startled before she spoke with a trace of hostility in her tone, "What do you mean by that Young Master Shen Yue?"

"I am here to inform you of your crime, Director Yang Xin. The Sacred Family has recently caught six Dark Guild members. And when we investigated them, we found lots of these new pellets that the Alchemy Association has been selling. After questioning them, these Dark Guild members revealed that they bought these pellets directly from you," Alan spoke.

He carefully observed Yang Xin's expression, and she showed a hint of surprise but no nervousness. Yang Xin was confident that she hadn't committed the crime that Alan had just stated.

"That's a big accusation, Young Master Shen Yue. I have taken my job very seriously, and I can swear that I have never assisted a Dark Guild member in my life," Yang Xin spoke seriously.

"I would like to believe you, Director Yang Xin. I truly would. But unfortunately, the evidence tells another story," Alan spoke.

"Zheng Meng, Hou Lan, Geng Wei, Wei Da, Liang Yan, and Guo Long. These are the names of the six Dark Guild members that we recently caught. Are these names familiar to you?" Alan asked.

Yang Xin's facial expression went pale upon hearing the names of these people. She knew these people since they were her biggest clients after the Noble Families.

Each of them bought a large quantity of the Pellets from Yang Xin.

"…They are my customers. But I didn't know that they were Dark Guild members," Yang Xin spoke.

When Alan heard her admit to this fact, he was somewhat startled and thought, 'Okay. This will be easier than I expected.'

"Really? You mean to say you didn't investigate the background of your clients before selling them such a large quantity of pellets?" Alan asked, his voice getting sharper.

"…I wished to respect my client's privacy. But I never imagined that they would be members of the Dark Guild," Yang Xin responded shakily.

Alan didn't seem impressed with her explanation. He then asked, "The last I remembered, the Alchemy Association would always sell a large batch of pellets after thoroughly analyzing the identity of the buyer."

"In fact, there was another point that I was curious about. Can you answer me why these six people have as many pellets as the Sacred Family?" Alan asked Yang Xin.

Yang Xin's eyes widened as Alan asked her this question. In fact, Alan didn't stop there. He further added, "I am just guessing, but there is a strong possibility that you knew these six people were Dark Guild members, and you were procuring resources for the Dark Guild while enhancing your reputation in the Alchemy Association by landing such a huge deal. Best of both worlds truly."

Alan had a disdainful look on his face.

Yang Xin was completely shaken at this point. She responded quickly, "I would never do such a thing! I originally thought that these six belonged to a Noble Family and didn't want to spread the news, so I abstained from investigating them too deeply in fear of angering them. I never could have imagined that these six belonged to the Dark Guild!"

Alan seemed amused by her explanation. He felt that it was time for his next move.

With a smile, Alan spoke, "I have another doubt, Director Yang Xin. Your explanation to Elder Wen stated that the Alchemy Association didn't produce enough pellets to increase the quota to the Sacred Family. But you had enough to sell these mysterious clients. In fact, when I started investigating, I found out that the Snow Wind Family has been receiving ten times the pellets that the Sacred Family is receiving at a meager rate. I wonder why that is so?"

"You are not only colluding with the Dark Guild but also with the Snow Wind Family? Just what is the Alchemy Association planning?" Alan asked Yang Xin with a mocking tone.

"T-This…" Yang Xin couldn't help but fall speechless at those words.

In reality, the answer to Alan's question was Nie Li.

It was Nie Li who asked Yang Xin to reduce the quota of the Sacred Family, so Yang Xin prepared an excuse to handle the Sacred Family.

As for the deal with the Snow Wind Family, this was also Nie Li's doing. However, the deal had to remain absolutely secret to prevent it from affecting the Alchemy Association's business, so the President of the Alchemy Association barred anyone from speaking of it!
