Waiting is horrible, I was becoming restless as days goes by, it been already 5 days since I came, still Fr. Francis Xavier haven't arrived. Something kept telling me go to Macwary villa, maybe it was because I kept thinking he won't be coming. One day Fr. Benadict came to visit me, I thought Fr. Francis Xavier has arrived but to my disappoint he told me that Fr. Xavier would be postponing his arrival as something came up in his catheter.
My patience were getting narrowed. I couldn't wait anymore. Everyone at Walden's could see that so John asked me to tag along with him when he was going to the next town to get some stuff. I too agreed.
Town next to ours is more developed than our town, so most of the villagers from our town usually travel there to buy things.
I went on for window shopping to waste my time till John finished his business. Then I brought some dresses and things that caught my eyes.
We reached Walden's inn when sky grew darker. In the living room they were two people waiting for us to come back.
Fr Benadict said "we were waiting for you dear and here is Fr. Francis Xavier!"
My face brightened as I heard his name. We greeted each other. He was a man of class, he was wearing premium black suit and quite well groomed. He gave that awesomeness in his attire plus he had his suitcase that match with his suit. Finally I thought my waiting was over.
" Fr. Francis is tired from traveling so why don't you both talk in detail tomorrow" Fr. Benadict said. We all agreed to it and departed after dinner made by Mrs. Walden.
Fr. Francis Xavier stayed in the inn with me.
Next day morning, I woke up with lot of expectations but Fr. Xavier does seem like we were going to anywhere. He was still in his night dress as we were having our breakfast. He does seem like a fan of talking, he was quite all the time.
"Fr. Xavier ain't we going to my villa today" I asked impatiently.
"not yet" he replied and continued with his breakfast. Before leaving to his room he said to Mrs. Walden that "Mrs. Walden, don't bother me for lunch I have some work to do" saying that he left without waiting for her reply. I haven't seen him whole day I was getting frustrated with his ignorance.
He seemed like a man who was emotionless and doesn't want to mingle with anyone.
It was dinner time we all sat together, Fr. Xavier has said the grace and we all had a silent dinner. After dinner I went to my room, I was reading a novel that I brought when I went with John, then I heard a knock on my door when I opened the door to my surprise it was Fr. Francis Xavier.
"May I come in for a moment" he asked.
"Sure Father" I replied.
He sat on the only chair in the room and I on the bed.
"Seven years ago when I received the letter from Fr. Benadict, I was quite occupied with another case so I sent my apprentice to here. When he reached, it has been already too late! He could only find body's so he locked both house and gate with holy objects. My apprentice have done things that was necessary back then. He also have created different rings of protection around the house so that evil spirit couldn't escape or harm anyone anymore. That is also a reason why you lived peaceful till now."
"Father I want my house back, I'm tired of staying here and waiting"
"I know dear, but if we go inside your house without knowing what is haunting it, we all could die there so we need to know about what, why, how. It's foolishness to we move without information it".
"But Father, how can we know?"
"I need you to answer my questions, so we can come across a conclusion, okay?"
"okay!" I replied
"so my 1st question. Was your house always haunted?"
"NO!"
"then, when do you think it all started?" he asked.
"okay. It all started when we went for grandpa's funeral"
"who do you think was the first victim?"
"Sam, I mean Samuel my younger brother"
"what happened the day ran away?"
"that day we came back from grandma's funeral....." he kept on asking me about it and those days, all I could remember clearly was face that I saw that night through the window. It still haunts my mind. A face as dark as night without moon, long hair that covered most of its face and a white dress. It's eyes were piercing into me as if it was craving my soul
