A moment lies.
A downgrade in the new world.
Looking up to the dark blue sky, she brushed her wavy blonde hair to side as the wind kept it pushing on her face. It seemed like time had stopped as she was lost in her own little world. She looked down at her palms, how powerless they were.
Coming from an entire home of superhumans, a whole world of superhumans where humans said to have evolved yet she... She had managed to become a human. A devolution. Zero percent super genes and 100% human. No one had believed it, some said she was some kind of alien but she knew she wasn't. The judgemental ways of the society had stomped on her. An outcast. That's what she was.
Sighing for the umpteenth time, she moves from her current position and walks into her room. The time ticking fast at the early hours of the morning. It was time to get ready for school.
School... a place she once loved dearly, where she could be whatever she wanted. Anything... She wanted. Now it was a place where she felt her life draining as she stepped into the school grounds.
She picked out the usual hoodie and sweatpants, as there was no reason to wear dresses or causal clothes like she once did.
After taking a shower, she took her clothes and put them on. Making sure to use the hoodie to cover her face. Next, she packed her books. On her books, you could see the marks of bullies. Different names they used to call her. Even her friends had turned against her because of what she was. As she packed her things, a picture had fallen out of her bag. It was a picture of her dad, mom and brother, when she was happy and when they treated her like theirs. Now they wouldn't even spare a glance at her. Her dad had almost donated her as a lab rat to power industries, if not for her mom, who knows where she would be.
Tears streamed down her eyes as she stared the picture. Just then, her brother stormed into the room with an annoyed look on his face. Seraph already started shaking in fear of what he would say. His words were like venom that could end a person's life. He too had treated her like trash. Emotional and delicate that's how her parents brought her up, they used to cover her up in a shell of love until they learnt she wasn't able to have a super ability.
With a bang of the door, he had shut the door and left. A sigh of relief was all that she let out. Once again the tears, it felt like a continuous habit for her now. It's not like she could hide it anyway. It's just who she is.
She had packed up her things for school and was waiting for the driver to announce he is ready to go, but this time, he had left without asking if she was going or not.
The Earth was now a place filled with superhumans. Not a human left, well except for her. The world had somehow evolved but no one knew how. Science had travelled so far that anyone could travel so another universe like walking to a neighbour's house.
Walking on the pedestrian sidewalks, she lowers her face so she doesn't meet anyone she knows or even worse anyone who knows her. Everyone on Earth, even on alien planets knew who she was and how she wasn't able to have super abilities. The Daughter of the greatest superhero devolves.
Impossicant, was what the lab scientists exclaimed. Someone can't just devolve. No one can tell if it was a devolution or she was really a human from the start and if she was a human, what about her parents?
The ships of supergenerals were seen flying through the sky heading for her school.
If she had super abilities, she would probably be panicking but she didn't, after all it didn't matter to her and it wasn't like she was going to get chosen by an academy. The supergenerals were supposed to give a presentation and a selection session for the classes; those said to be graduating. Today was graduation and when graduating classes would be chosen by schools. It was a thing for the society that as soon as they graduate, academies from all over the world would choose a student or students with the ability they want. Super academy, business academy, technology academy and so on. Military academy was the hardest to find as no one wanted to lose their lives fighting the Daelaiw.
On the sky high billboards were sitizens addressing the situation of the Daelaiw like they always did. How they had preyed into the lands of Earth and other planets.
The Daelaiw Species. One could say they were mindless humans, Zombies as one would call them before but seeing they were smarter than the smartest super humans of the earth and much stronger than twenty super generals combined, the name changed. Dae meaning Extremely Mutated Categorized, Laiw meaning Beings.
She had reached school with her books on her head. Unfortunately for her, rain had decided to fall and drenched her hoodie. Walking into the hallways, she could see a couple of her classmates rushing to the auditorium with their graduating uniforms while she wore wet clothes.
Ironic.
She decided to follow so she could at least collect her certificate. Just then, she was stopped by the only friendly face that decided to stick to her even though she has no super abilities. Elias. Cyber girl with a touch of softie.
"Phina? Here have my jacket." Elias removed the space jacket she wore and handed it to her but Seraphina refused. The girl had done way too much favors that it almost felt like she was faking it.
"Oh yeah! I made something just for you. Follow me. Don't worry about the grad ceremony." Elias held her hand and dragged her into the science lab.
"So while I was crafting, I found something just for you... Look it's a robot arm. This baby can lift anything I tell you. 14k terra bytes of storage for storing things in the portal. Oh and a hat to increase your IQ just like a superhuman." She pulled Seraphina to the chair, she pulled out a blue scissors and attempted to cut Seraphina's arm.
"Are you crazy?!" Seraphina grabbed the scissors and threw it far into the corner. She immediately stood up and left. Everyone was trying to turn her into some kind of robot. She didn't want to be one, some superhumans chose to be and donated their super abilities to labs for testing.
As she passed by, other students had kept their distance from her. It went around as a rumour that it was some kind of communicable diseases affecting her from gaining super abilities. From then on, she was either laughed at or bullied about it. As much as Seraphina wanted to retaliate, she had no power to fight or whatsoever.
She had finally reached the auditorium after making sure Elias wasn't following her---The girl was crazy. She sat in the far corner where no one would see her and start to mock her.
The ceremony had started and Seraphina had collected her certificate ready to go because she didn't want to stay for the selection session. It's not like they would choose her or even consider her. At this point, it would be better if she died.
She had made sure to lower her hoodie as she walked past the graduands who were once her classmates. Classmates who turned against her as they heard she had no super abilities. Reaching the doors, it suddenly closed, the lights in the auditorium had turned dim and a holographic screen appeared. She was too late, now she had to witness everyone getting picked and she would be the spectator. All her life she had one thing; to become like her father. Her father was a superhero whose abilities surpasses others. Even as a child, seeing all her mates having super abilities except her and that didn't stop her from dreaming but now it's confirmed. She would never be able to accomplish her dreams. Shattered like a glass, broken like a jug. Everything came crashing down.
"Everyone stay where you are. We will now begin the selection session." A man shouted and everywhere went silent. Seraphina face palmed herself mentally for not reaching the door fast. Now she had to stay back and look at her classmates and ex friends get chosen by academies she dreamed of going to.
One by one different academies were shown in the holographic screen choosing their students from the list. Finally, it reached Seraphina's turn, mutters and cackles were heard because everyone knew Seraphina had no super abilities. No academy would want a downgraded specie.
"Seraphina Jordans." The man at the stage called out and not a single academy was shown on the screen. Time passed by and the next student was about to be called when an academy appeared on the screen.
"Z-zirturiu Military Academy," the man stuttered before gaining back his composure.
"Z-Base," whispers were heard. Everyone was shocked; a human going to a military base.
Military bases academy were for training superhumans to become military soldiers that would fight the Daelaiw war. The news had disrupted everyone including Seraphina. No one was sure what went on in that academy, they had separated themselves from activities of the world.
From nowhere, a girl grabbed Seraphina and pushed her to the wall, "You human piece of shit. How much money did your father use to get you into such a school?! Why don't you just die?"
The girl joined her hands together and a black ball of darkness had started to form. She aimed it at Seraphina when two teachers caught her and pushed her to the ground. Seraphina watched as the girl was taken away. She was glad she wasn't hurt, the girl had been harassing her, sometimes giving her intentional scars.
She didn't want to stay any longer, the stares around her meant danger and she didn't want to be part of it. She rushed out of the doors and ran home before anyone would beat her to pulp.
One thing she didn't understand was why an academy accepted her. Hell, she didn't even apply to the academy, the academy she had applied for declined immediately.
Reaching home she rushes up the stairs she wouldn't have to see anyone. She shuts her room door, locking it so no one would enter. She walked to her bed and bent under, she brought out a white box. In it was a stone, the colour seemed to be mixed with a red and orange, like a fire concept. It had four parts but it was shaped like a diamond. For some reason, she felt attached to it. She had woken up one night with it in hands and began to wonder where it came from, since then she had kept it safe under her bed.
"You're the only one who understands me," she said as if she were speaking to the stone. She dropped it on her dresser and picked up a scissors to trim her hair. Seraphina always had a long wavy blonde hair and she always loved it but right now, she had hated it. She hated the way she looked so much like her father. The man who denied her his daughter.
Picking up the scissors, she divides her hair into two and cut one piece to shoulder length, she does the same with the other. While she picked up the hair on the ground, a vase next to her had fallen down.
"Oh no," she muttered, she bent down to pick the glass pieces on the ground but she felt one pricked her palm and blood had started to flow from it, she noticed that her stone was on the ground. She used her hand to support the dresser that was about fall and picked it up with her bloody hand.
"Why is everything so chaotic today?" She muttered to herself. As she used her strength to pull the dresser that was falling back up, she felt the stone in her hand becoming hotter.

Once the dresser was back up, she looked at the stone on her bloody hand and it began to float from her palm. She slowly backed away from the object that seemed like it wanted to explode. It emitted blinding radiance and shook uncontrollably, that made the dresser she had put back up fall back down. Different writings had started coming out of the stone, and it spread out to her room. She could hear people speaking some language she couldn't understand.
Slowly, the words slowly attached to her body and in a split second, the stone sucked in the words floating around like a black hole, and then it disappeared. At the same time, Seraphina felt her body becoming weak. She felt the ground growing closer and with that, she had slid into the world of darkness.
The last thing she heard; Daughter of Light, the Phoe...
