Heart breaks and tears.

"Luna!" he called out from the classroom at the end of the hall. She tried to get away from him and get into the crowd ahead of her but he was quick. "Where've you been Luna? I've been looking allover for you". She looked at him with teary eyes and looked away. She felt her heart beat faster and her blood boil. She wanted to slap him hard in the face and tell him she hated him. But all she could let out was "I had to go to the library, had a book to pick up". "Well you should've told me I would've come with you". It was at that moment that she thought, how could he, how could he have come with her when he was so busy with someone else. "I have to go Andy, I have work to do at home", Luna told Andy as she pulled away from him. "At least let me walk you home" he said to her smiling. "No I'll be fine, there really is no need for that".

It had been a really long day for Luna. It took forever for the school day to be over. She had considered bunking but she had nowhere else to go. As she left the school premises she thought taking the bus would be a better idea than walking home, but no one wants to be in a bus full of kids making all sorts of noises while tears drop from their eyes. Walking in the street while crying seemed to be a better option for her.

"Hey Luna!" she heard someone call out from behind her. She stopped and wiped her tears and worked on a smirk. Her makeup was running at this point and wiping it was no use. "Oh my God Luna you look terrible, what happened?" When she saw who it was that was calling her she ran into her arms and cried like a baby. "He was with her Amy", she managed to voice out in between the sobs. "He who, an who was he with?" Amy asked as she held on tightly to her friend. Luna pulled away from her friend and wiped her tears as she continued to ruin what was left of her makeup. "Andy, he was with Emma today, and he hugged her and then he made out with her, I feel like crap Amy". Amy looked at her friend and pulled her back into a hug. "Okay come on let's get you off the street and clean you up and then we'll talk alright?" "Okay, okay can we please go to your house?" Luna asked Amy. "Sure honey", Amy wrapped her arm around her best friend as they walked down the street to her house.

In a few minutes they were at Amy's house. Amy was helping her mom make a few snacks and Luna was cleaning herself up when the doorbell rang. "Amy go see who's at the door", "Yes mom!". She opened the door and her face lit up. "Hey come in", she said as she made way for Andy to come in. "Everything okay? What are you doing here?" , Amy asked Andy. "Do I really need a reason to come to one of my best friends' house?" Amy looked at Andy and let out a nervous laugh "Oh of course not, I mean I just...…" "Never mind, is Luna here? She told me she was going home but I went there and they said she wasn't home yet, I tried texting her and calling her but her phone is off or something". Andy looked worried, Amy felt terrible seeing him like that. Despite all that she still chose to lie to him. "no…I haven't seen Luna like all day today, maybe she went to the library again, you know how much of a bookworm she is". "I already checked the library and she wasn't there, anyway if you see her tell her she left her jacket at my house last night". Amy gave Andy a nod as she led him out.

"I thought I heard the doorbell, who was it?" Luna asked as she came out of Amy's room. "It was Andy, he was looking for you", Amy replied "but I told him you're not here, I would want him to see you like that and I'm sure you wouldn't either". Amy continued as she walked to the kitchen to get them some food. "Girl what's going on, why are you so mad at Andy?" Amy asked. "Luna is mad at Andy? That's a first, what happened?" Amy's mom asked as she walked into the living room. "Mom! Eaves dropping on peoples conversations is kind of rude you know" Amy said as she rolled her eyes at her mother. "Oh come on, I am just concerned, the three of you have been inseparable since you were little kids and now Luna is mad at Andy?" Amy's mom asked a second time. Luna let out a loud sigh and smiled at her "Its just a silly misunderstanding its nothing" she said. "I hope so, anyway I am off to work see you later", she hugged both the girls and left.

"Now will you tell me what happened?" Amy asked Luna. "well, last night I went to Andy's and we did a movie and talked a lot and I thought we were finally clicking and that we would be so much more, he even told me he loved me before dropping me off at home, and this morning at school he was with Emma, I felt so stupid Amy", Luna explained as more tears started to drop down her soft cheeks. "But Luna Andy doesn't know how you feel about him, we've all been friend since we were kids, we've always been that way, he can't just wake up and realize you have a huge crush on him you know". Amy explained to Luna as she helped her wipe her tears. "I know that but after last night I thought he would realize it, I feel really dumb tight now". Luna continued. "Look as long as you have him as your best friend its still something very precious, plus he wouldn't just break up with Emma in on night after spending the night with his best friend, that is what he considers you to be Luna", Amy told Luna. "I guess you're right", Luna replied. "So tomorrow we will go to school and we will sit with our best friend and his girlfriend for lunch". Amy told Luna. "Do we though? Do we have to sit with them?" She asked. "Absolutely, it's the only way you're going to get over this whole crush phase" Amy told Luna. Luna rolled her eyes at her friend as she put a large piece of cake into her mouth.

They had their snacks and had a chat for a few more hours. "I have to go Amy, its getting late", Luna got up to leave when the doorbell rang. "Are you expecting some one?" Amy asked Luna. "No, I'll check who it is". She got to the door and it was Andy again. "Oh my word Andy I told you Luna isn't here" Amy yelled at Andy. "Well Amy i am disappointed in you, since when do we lie to each other? I met your mom and she told me Luna was here, where is she?" Andy asked as he walked to the living room. "Wow Luna, you've been here the whole time? i have been looking for you, i went to your house and i even went to the library to look for you, what is it with you too?" Andy was furious. "I jus needed some time alone with Amy, its girl stuff and you wouldn't get it" Luna told Andy as she got up from the small chair. "Since when do we have girl stuff standing in between us, we tell each other everything, what's going on?" Andy asked Luna. "Its nothin' Andy just let it go, I will talk to you at school tomorrow okay? we can have lunch together". Luna told Andy to calm him down. "well I will walk you home,", Andy demanded as he told Luna to grab her stuff.

The awkward silence between Andy and Luna on their way home made her Luna feel uncomfortable. She however enjoyed walking with him. The fact that he would not let her walk home alone made her feel safe and protected. "So...you wanna tell me why you're acting so weird? you've been avoiding me all day and you lied to me when you said you were going home this afternoon", Andy spoke breaking the silence. "I didn't lie to you, I was going home but i met Amy and we went to her house first" Luna replied. "I still don't get why she lied to me when she said you weren't there, I was worried about you", Andy said. "I'm okay Andy, and I'm home too, thanks for walking me here, I will see you at school tomorrow" Luna told him and hugged him goodbye. he stood there watching Luna walk into the house before he left and went to his own house.

The small clock beside her table buzzed loudly making Luna groan in annoyance. She felt like she had only been sleeping for a few hours and didn't want to wake up. "Lulu, wake up honey, you're going to be late for school", Luna's mom shouted from the corridor as she passed her room. Luna woke up and turned off the alarm clock. She got out of bed and began to get ready for school. She checked the time and saw she only had five more minutes to get to school and be a part of her first class. "Oh shoot, I am so gonna be late", she said as she scrambled for her laptop in the large messy room. She ran to the breakfast table and grabbed a sandwich from her sister's plate. "Heey, go make your own sandwich Luna!", Larisa shouted. "Come on Risa, I'm late for school, its just one sandwich, you wont die alright", Luna said to her elder sister. Larisa rolled her eyes at her sister and rose to make another sandwich, "its not like I told you wake up late", she mumbled. "I heard that", Luna shouted as she went out the door.

By the time she got to school, Luna had already missed half of miss Janes English class. "miss Peters, you can team up with Emma for the project since you both came in late". Lunas heart was beating like crazy, this was the same Emma that she got upset over just yesterday. She reluctantly walked over to where Emma was and smiled at her. "You don't have to be nice to me Luna, I know you don't like me at all", Emma told Luna. "Emma I....." Luna tried to explain her self to Emma, "Forget it Luna, lets just concentrate on the project and get it done with", Emma cut her short. The bell rang and a few classes later, it was lunch time.

"The two of you are having lunch with me remember?", Andy said as he walked towards his two best friends. "Its been a while since we all sat together and had lunch or any meal together" he continued. Amy and Luna looked at each other and then at Andy. "Yeah it really has been a while, lets get to the café then" Amy said. They each got their lunch and Luna rushed to sit beside Andy when Emma came to the table. "Hey babe, I thought we were sitting together for lunch", Emma asked Andy, "Well yeah, but i had to catch up with Amy and Lu, but you can join us if you want, and we can share my plate" Andy told Emma as he signaled her to sit beside him.

Luna's heart sank. It was okay to know they were together but seeing her crush with someone else made her teary. "I just remembered I have to do something real quick, I will see you guys later", Luna said as she left the table. "Well that was rude, she just bailed on us", Andy said to Amy and Emma. "Your friend is kind of weird though have you noticed that?" Emma asked as she looked at Amy and Andy. "Don't say that, she just has a really hard time socializing, she isn't weird at all", Andy told Emma. "If you say so", Emma shrugged.

After lunch, Amy went out looking for Luna. She knew her best friend was hurting and she had to be there for her. The first place to look was the football ground. And there she was, sobbing and munching on a large burger and stuffing her face with fries. "Oh Lu, how can you just leave lunch like that, and you left me there all alone, and you're crying again, you have to stop crying in public places Lu, you crying is not exactly a pretty sight", Amy said to her friend as she took out a tissue to wipe her friends tears and running mascara. "Come on lets go to the bath room and get you cleaned up". Amy held her friends hand as they walked to the bath room.

"Okay, we are all done, you wanna talk about it?" Amy asked Luna. "Talk about what Amy, my best friend who is also my crush since third grade? No Amy, I'll pass". Luna said while applying more mascara to her lashes. "Crush?", the question came from behind Amy and Lunas eyes opened wide. "You have a crush on your childhood friend? He see's you as nothing but a little sister and here you are falling head over heels for him, is that why you left the table at lunch?" Emma asked with a weird grin on her face. Luna looked at Emma and then at Amy, speechless and scared of what Emma was going to do with what she had heard. "I never said I was in love with him, its just a crush", Luna said trying to defend herself. "That is not what I heard and saw Luna, wait until I tell him about it". Emma said as she mockingly played with Luna's hair. "Come on Emma, some things just don't have to be said out loud you know, just let this go, don't tell Andy about it", Amy pleaded with Emma. Luna's delicate eyes were already tearing up. "Well, like they say, be swift to hear, slow to speak, and I heard everything, I will see you later honey" Emma said as she left the wash room.

"Amy if she tells him our friendship will be on the rocks", Luna said as she tried to go after Emma. "Let her go, she wont tell him, trust me on this, she really likes Andy, she wouldn't want him knowing there's someone who likes him and is already so close to him". Amy told Luna. She convinced her friend to be calm and let it all go and Luna agreed. She freshened up and they left the bathroom for their respective sport clubs.

Later that day at home, Luna thought about what would happen if Andy knew the truth. would he love her back the same way she loved him? Would she finally have the boy of her dreams? Would she be able to hug him like a lover and not like a brother or best friend? With these thoughts she drifted off to sleep.

She woke up to the vibrations of message alerts from her phone. This was more annoying than the loud ring of the alarm clock. She opened on of the notifications and she felt her heart skip a beat. Her name had been tagged in a post and each comment had her name on it. She didn't realize she was crying until she felt tears run down her cheeks. She felt like burying herself into the ground. She went through each comment and every one of them chipped out a piece of her soul. 'Hungry much', 'that's worse than incest, shame', 'obsessed much', they read. Emma had told the world about Luna's feelings for Andy. The entire school knew. Luna was definitely crying now. Not everyone was supposed to know about her crush and feelings. Emma was wrong for airing her business out like that. And she was goin to let her know exactly how she felt.

School was a nightmare, everyone was looking at Luna and laughing at her. She was a bookworm, a nerd who dressed like a young boy wearing his elder brothers clothes. She hid her beauty behind a lot of unnecessary make up and large glasses. And Andy was a senior, a guy who dressed to kill and was very good looking. He had a pretty girl friend with whom Luna could not compete with, if only Luna could dress and look like a girl. Luna was the odd one out of the three. Amy was a dark skinned beauty who made sure she always looked like a doll. it would've been better if it was Amy that had a crush on Andy. But it was her, the odd ugly weird Luna. At least that's what she thought of herself. her confidence levels were very low and she had no social skills whatsoever. And this just added to her problems.

As she walked down the hall towards class, she caught a glimpse of the one person she didn't want to see all day. He was coming towards her. She had a split second to make a decision on whether to run or stand still and wait for her best friend to hug her and tell her it will be alright. She turned back and walked as fast as she could. She heard Andy call out to her as she ran from him. He ran behind her and kept shouting her name. For some reason she was always running from him. He eventually caught up with her and tightly grabbed her hand. "Why are you running from me?, we need to talk, come with me". He dragged her behind him like a child. they went to a more quieter place, the sports field. "Is it true?" A furious Andy asked Luna. All she could do was feel his rage and anger as she looked at him. She felt her heart beat faster than normal as she realized she had lost her best friend. "Is this why you've been avoiding me? is this why you are so mean to Emma and why you bailed on lunch the other day?". Luna didn't know what to say, she just stood there and cried. "Since you don't wanna answer, I'll leave, but get this, if i leave right now, don't call me or text me and forget we were ever friends, 'cause if you can hide such a big thing from me, who knows what else you're hiding". Andy left as Luna continued to sob into her large hoodie. She felt terrible and embarrassed. But mostly she felt the pain of losing on of the most important people in her life.
