Prolouge (Book 2)

New dust was being kicked up from the dry dirt floor, every time the two clashed. The wind slowly carried away the dust, yet the smell of blood permeated the arena.

The spectators never looked away from the fight even for a second, as they didn't want to miss a moment of the mesmerizing fight. The more they watched, the more they got impressed by both fighters' sheer skill and aggression.

The fighters were a woman and a man.

The woman was already covered with wounds. The fight lasted already quite a while, but the eyes of the woman still burned with excitement.

The man, on the other hand, was wrapped in a light shell of metal that covered his entire torso. With bitterness in his eyes, the man unleashed his magic. A metallic spear was formed and it shot with great velocity towards the woman.

Narrowly, the woman dodged it and took a deep breath. A subtle change came over her face, and the man prepared himself.

She spat and unleashed a barrage of blue hot flames toward the man.

He swiftly rotated his arms, forming a metallic disk that effortlessly blocked the flames.

A faint red glow emanated from the metal shield. The woman grumbled. It was the fourth time he had effortlessly blocked her attack.

"This won't get us anywhere," she said.

"Then let's stop!" said the man who was already tired of fighting.

"Why would I?" asked the woman laughing, "I haven't had such an interesting fight in ages."

The man sighed in exasperation as he looked at the blood-soaked woman.

- How can she be such a fighting maniac? -

She glanced up as movement rippled through the shield. Her hands began transforming into scaly, muscular claws. The woman started running to the side as the metal shield shattered into pieces.

The pieces began to merge together into three long metallic speers that shot toward the woman.

The three spears shot off. She was able to block one of them and dodged the others. But the last one hit her in the hip and the woman staggered.

She stumbled, but instead of being shocked, she was just angry,

"You're still holding back? Show me your true strength!"

The man sighed and again suggested they should stop now. However, the woman ignored him; she couldn't stop just yet. She completely ignored the pain, as she started rushing at the man again.

He was about to shoot a round metal disc at her, but the woman took another deep breath and spat fire at him. He had to use the metal plate to block it. Meanwhile, the woman came very close. The man raised his eyebrows in surprise when he closed his disc again and saw that she was already in front of him. But skillfully he attacked again expecting that the woman would avoid his attack. A long blade of dark metal was in his hand and he jerked it upwards, but contrary to his expectation, she did not dodge him, instead jumped right at him.

The blade hit, and blood gushed out from her body with a loud "thud", her left arm hit the floor, being cleanly cut off. With this move, she was right in front of him.

The man tried to jump back in confusion, but as he didn't expect her to do such a huge sacrifice, it was already too late.

The woman tore open her mouth. Razor-sharp teeth were now visible in it and she bit into the man's neck and brutally tore threw his throat. Startled, the man's eyes widened and he staggered back, his hand pressed firmly on the hole.

Complete silence spread among the spectators. How can someone treat his own body so disrespectfully and only for an unnecessary victory?

An invisible force pulled the woman back and more people rushed to the place and surrounded the injured man. They began to heal him. Some also came to the woman and healed her. Another man walked to the woman. His expression was extremely angry,

"This time you have gone too far, Ava!"
