When Medea thought of the word assassin, she felt it resonate with her, like the profession was physically calling her name. Medea soon realized that the old man was her only connection to the profession.
"Wait!" Medea yelled, making the old man stop. The old man looked up, "What?" Medea slid on the stair railings and stood in front of the blind man, "I want to come with you, to your payment." Medea said, making the old man confused.
"And why is that? I hope you're not expecting a cut..." The old man said which made Medea shake her head, "I could care less about money right now. What I want is first-hand experience, or what it would feel like anyway."
"First-hand experience? You want first-hand experience from an assassin?" The old man asked and Medea nodded, "Why? I don't understand unless you want to be an assassin yourself."
"Bingo! I feel like assassination calls to me, like a baby to his mother." Medea compared, making the old man pinch the bridge of his nose, "You know, assassination isn't as easy as it looks. You have to do countless research on your employer and your target, along with having the significant training to even qualify to be an assassin."
"I'm sure I can do it," Medea said with determination. The old man smirked, "Another student to take care of, what a hassle." Medea was confused at the old man's words.
"Student? I never agreed to become your student." Medea said as she crossed her arms. The old man just smiled, "Guess what? You're my student now." The old man said as he tapped Medea on the head and continued walking out of the abandoned building.
"I don't even know your name! You don't even know my name! How can I be your student if we don't know each other's names!" Medea yelled and the old man sighed, "You're not wrong...introduce yourself then."
"Ahem. My name is Medea Diana Rinaki, I'm 10 years old, and I'm going to get my revenge one way or another." Medea introduced herself, just as the moonlight passed through a giant pane of glass, giving her an ethereal vibe.
"10 years of age huh? My other student just so happens to be the same age," The old man said to himself, "Well, my name is Hilt, my age isn't important, and I like money."
"See that wasn't hard," Medea remarked and Hilt ignored her. The duo walked out of the abandoned building and Medea began following Hilt. Hilt walked towards the more affluent part of Athens with Medea tailing behind him.
"Why did such rich people hire you to kill a junkie?" Medea asked and Hilt smiled, "Rich people who have a grudge against said junkie." Hilt said, leaving Medea to connect the dots. The duo soon arrived in front of a large white mansion and Hilt rang the doorbell. Who came to the door was a young girl, around Medea's age with raven black hair and sapphire blue eyes.
"Daddy! Some old guy and his granddaughter are at the door!" The young girl yelled and a tanned, bearded man soon arrived.
"Is it done?" The bearded man asked and Hilt smiled, "Of course, it is if it wasn't I wouldn't be standing here, Mr. Natchios." Hugo just nodded and invited them in.
"So who is this? Your granddaughter?" Hugo asked and Hilt laughed, "Heavens no, she's a student of mine. Just like how that one is going to be," Hilt pointed at Elektra eavesdropping on their conversation upstairs. Elektra looked spooked and immediately ran away, putting a smile on Hugo's face.
"Do you really think it's best for her to leave? I mean, she just lost her mother and brother. I may be old, but I have a lot of time left." Hilt suggested but Hugo shook his head, "I think she needs a break. Something to get her mind off their deaths." Hugo said and Hilt just nodded. The room went silent for a moment before Hugo bent down and began speaking to Medea.
"So what's your name?" Hugo asked to which Medea responded promptly, "My name is Medea Rinaki, Mr. Natchios." Hugo's eyes had a look of shock for a split second at the reveal of Medea's surname, "It's nice to meet you Medea. Would you like to go meet Elektra?" Hugo asked, and to Hilt's surprise, Medea nodded.
"When you go upstairs, her room will be down the hall on the left," Hugo said and Medea ran upstairs.
"Woah, that's a long hallway," Medea commented as she walked down the beige-colored hallway. Shortly after, she arrived in front of a pink door. Before Medea could knock she heard Elektra, "Come in!"
Medea shrugged and opened the door. Medea's eyes widened in shock at Elektra's room. Despite Elektra's pink-colored door, most of her room was red on the inside.
"Woah..." Medea subconsciously said, and Elektra came to greet her, "My name is Elektra, what's yours?" Elektra's blue eyes stared into Medea's red, "Uhh, my name is Medea."
"Nice to meet you Medea!" Elektra smiled as she held Medea's hand and brought her deeper into her large room. In the middle of Elektra's room was a large suitcase filled with clothes and stuffed animals.
"What're you packing for?" Medea asked and Elektra frowned, "Daddy says I'm going on a vacation, but I know that's not true now." Elektra said dejectedly.
"You can think of it like a vacation, just one where you will learn." Medea said, making Elektra confused, "Learn? What will I be learning?" Elektra asked.
"I don't know. That old man down there, Hilt, is going to be our teacher. So it's up to him." Medea said as she pointed out the door.
"Our teacher? What do you mean?" Elektra asked, "Well uh, he's here because of two things. You and money." Medea said.
"So, I'm his student?" Elektra asked and Medea nodded, "And you're his student too?" To which Medea nodded again.
"Cool," Elektra said with a smile, "But why did you guys come at nighttime? Couldn't you pick me up in the morning?" Elektra asked and Medea sighed.
"It's a long story, but in short, me and that old man just met around an hour ago. He forced me to become his student." Medea answered and Elektra just nodded. Soon the room fell into a deep silence.
"So how are you doing?" Medea asked Elektra who clenched her fist, "I'm doing fine, I wish everyone would stop asking me that though." Elektra's voice shook as she held back tears.
"I understand how you feel, sorta," Medea said and Elektra looked at her with a mix of emotions, "How can you understand what I'm going through? I lost my mommy and my brother yesterday, and it's all my fault!" Elektra yelled as the tears began flowing, Medea took a deep breath and exhaled.
"No, I really do understand how you feel." Medea said as tears began welling up in her eyes, "I know the guilt weighing in your heart, the regret pacing through your mind, and the sadness piercing through your soul! I know how it feels!" Medea said as tears flowed from her eyes as well.
Subconsciously, or instinctively, the girls hugged each other as they let out their sorrow and frustration. That night, a bond was born, a bond that would shake the world.
