Chapter five

The night was still and warm as I laid here in the same bed as Star. We've not layed together at all even when she'd visit my home. We kept things very mild around everyone till we or I proposed to her. Now things are kind of calm and I'm not as nervous as I use to be. Tonight I was invited to sleep in the family house with Star. She herself asked me since I would usually sleep outside with Blizzard. I accepted her offer and I've just been here laying right next to her. I wanted to sleep but the weird feeling of another person next to me kept me awake for a bit longer. Then she laid her head on my chest, I felt my eyes get heavy and soon I passed out.

The next morning I woke up and I radioed Brad about what just happened. He stayed silent on the radio for a minute but then he said. "Well, we were all waiting for you to make that move. You liked her from the start, it's not really a suprise you'd propose to her." I smiled and he asked if I'd be back home in a couple days? I looked back behind me and then I said, "Yeah I will be home tomorrow, but for now I'm going some time with Star and her family." Brad said back to me, "Alright, I will make sure everything is finished tonight." I let him go and I went to help out Island with something. For that day like the night before it was all quiet till I heard something was coming.

I felt the wind change but I didn't hear anything. I looked at Island and he didn't look worried like I did. He placed his strong hand on my shoulder after he tied off the wyverns I gave him a while back. "Son, would you like to move here and live with us in the village? I know you have that farm but I thought I should offer you a place here with us." He asked me and I smiled, "I would but my friends still need me, I was actually thinking..." I was saying till I heard something big step through the gate. I looked passed Island and saw a huge hurd of trikes coming right at us. I pulled Island behind me as Blizzard came out of nowhere to put the closet ones down.

I looked around and I saw Star and her kids up above on a tree. It was about to get rammed by a huge male Trike, "Blizzard!" I yelled and she spun around to see me pointing at Star. She flew over and caught the kids as they fell out of the tree. Star landed right on Blizzards back and flew her right to me. From up on the wyvern she saw that they were running from a Alpha Rex was chasing them. Star pointed in the Rexs direction as she landed right next to me. I pulled the kids off and I grabbed the reins right from Star. I took off at the Rex, I could see the whole village was ruined. Not a single building was left, you couldn't even tell that those huts were huts.

I felt rage hit my face as Blizzard from the Rex in place. I pulled out my tek gun and I shot it in the head over and over till it dropped dead. I landed right next to the dead Rex and my rage vanished as everyone who survived came out of the rubble. Star and island came to see if I took care of the Rex and saw I was looking right at the village. Everything was gone, Island got a worried look on his face as he watched everyone calm down. "Hey go find Sky, Island." I said to him and he took off right for his home. We all stood there for a moment to get a head count of all the villagers. After a couple hours of clean up we discovered that ten people died from getting trampled.

We even realized that village was to smashed to fix. Even the water supply was gone for the Village. Everyone gathered at the broken gate as Island told everyone that they would have to move again. Everyone looked depressed as this was the fifth time in ten years. As everyone began to pack I had a dumb but good idea. What if they traveled to my small island and made a new village there. I owned the whole thing so I could let them have the other half of it I wasn't using. I ran this by Island and he was more concerned, "What about the Humans, won't they object to this large group moving across their lands?" He asked me and I shook my head.

"Maybe but if I can get permission to from Cyric for your people to cross to get to my land I don't think you'll have problems." I said right as I called Cyric on my radio. "Cyric I have a problem I need your help on." I said into the radio, he seemed to be waiting on the other line as he spoke back to me. He wanted to know what happened and I told him and the stampeding Trikes and the village. I then told him about me giving the Orkish half my land. He wondered why I would do that and I told him about the proposal to Star. First he congratulated me on the proposal as then asked me. "What do you need from me then, that land is yours not mine?"

I told him what I landed was concerend about and he gave us the go ahead to move everyone across the island to my smaller one. Island heard the conversation with Cyric and agreed to take my offer. So we packed up what we could find and I had let Brad know what happened. He didn't even argue, he actually got everything ready. I had the wyverns help carry the elders that couldn't walk and used the villages Pachyrhinosaurus pull wagons to my farm. I we got everyone moving a couple hours after we collected. Island led the village, I was in the middle and Star's brother Zer followed from behind. Blizzard was infront with my soon to be father inlaw as the poison wyverns were behind with Zer.

The wyverns kept a watch on everything and even scared off the compys away from us. We came across the first humans as we got close to ArkCoven. They wondered what was going on till they saw everyone looked depressed and a few of the villagers were crying. I saw they saw me and I nodded at them, I heard the one who saw me say. "Oh god, something must of happened for Jacob to be helping them move?" I didn't smile but felt everyone else get more depressed. We soon passed the Human village and were now a couple hours from my farm. I saw that everyone was getting tired of walking so I ran up to the front to have Island give everyone a break.

Island looked back and saw how tired everyone was. The day was hot and would get hotter the more south we went. We all pulled to the side of the trail or road to rest. I went down the group to see if everyone need anything and I saw they all wanted see the ones they lost in the stampede. I did give the kids and more tired adults water to drink to recover their energy. After an hour of resting I got everyone moving again but this time I lead the way to my home. While walking I called up Star because I needed her to let everyone to know to stay calm when we entered my land. She nodded and told everyone in a loud voice. "Everyone listen up, before we enter on to Jacobs land. "

"You all need to stay close and calm, for he has guards that will forcefully protect his land. They are those Rexs like the one he killed, when they come just let them watch you but keep walking. When you meet the alpha who they call Stone you will be able to wander the land. Untill then just follow and stay silent, we are really close to our new home!" I saw the bridge and saw that Stone was waiting at the edge of it. Blizzard raised her head as if to nodded to Stone and he did the same back to her. I stopped be him and tapped his leg for a bit, he looked down at me and then we walked the group to my farm. When I got everyone to the open space near the gates I saw that Brad had everyone prep the area for them.

He even made a huge fire pit right in the center. I watched as everyone began to unpack and start setting up tents. Star and her kids were setting up theirs till I said, "Since we are so close to my home now you guys can live in my hut. I've been making it bigger to house the four of us when you visited." I said to them, Star didn't want to because she wanted to be with her family but she saw her kids wanted to. I saw Star hesitation and I knew why, she had just lost people she cared about. We didn't even have a proper funeral for the ones that died in the trike stampede. "We should gather everyone the fire pit when the sun goes down. can you do that Star for me?"

I asked her and she wondered what I wanted to do. I didn't let her in on my plan but I did tell her to tell everyone to bring a candle. She nodded and went to let everyone know, I sat with Ira and Saf while Star ran around. "Hey is uncle Brad here?" Ira asked me and I looked right at the small Ork. "He should be near, he just got this spot ready for your people. Though we haven't seen him yet, I wonder where he is?" I said back to her looking around for my brother. When I said that Brad came around with Just and a few of my best workers. "Brother, good to see you and Just hows the new baby wyverns doing?" I asked them and both nodded.

"Brother what all happened, I know you told me a bit ago but?" Brad asked me and I told him about the Tampede, then about the Villagers losing their home. Brad and Just stood there for a moment till they saw the Ork girls looking right at them. Brad when we would have a spare moments would actively learn the Orkish tongue. He was as good as I was but not as steady with his words. He had not spoke to the actual Orkish people with his own Orkish yet. So when he spoke to Ira and Saf they looked spooked. "Girls, are you two ok, I hope the journey was ok?" He asked them and they both smiled, "We are ok, but mother and the elders are really upset." Ira said for Saf and her.

Brad and my crew went around helping out everyone that would let them. Then Brad went back to his duties as the sun was setting. He would return later to be part of the Funeral. With the fire now blazing and everyone gathered around it. I gave a well thought out eulogy for those we lost with the help of Star and Island. "Today as we sit by this warm fire on a cool night I would love if everyone lit their candles." I said as everyone lit their candles with the fire off the pit. I then contiued, "My dear friends we lost ten of the best of us today. In a accident that no one could perdict, to honor them I would ask all of you to close your eyes and pray or say goodbye to their spirits."

"Cry if you need too, and let the candle burn the night away for them." I turned to the fire and I wish the one that we lost in the Stampede to make it safe to the after life. I then heard Island and star sing in an ancient dialect that I didn't understand. Though I felt it in my chest, with every word the song made me tear up. I even saw that Ira and Saf cried a bit as the song continued. I smiled a little bit as I closed my eyes and remembered my own family. I felt a tear roll down my face as I finally let go my parents from my mind. I never got to say goodbye or held a funeral for them. So I guess this made a good substitute for me.

I opened my eyes and saw Star was right behind me. She knew why I cried, it wasn't for the we just lost. It was for the people I lost over time in these last seven years. She held me tight to her side and we listened to the fire burn away. I felt my body get tired from the burden of my grief now gone just like that. Star set up a quick spot for here to sleep next to her kids and I joined them. We all feel asleep watching the fire die down, it was a nice and warm night. So it was easy to pass out with everyone still awake around us. Star laid her head on my shoulder as I blacked out for a bit. The night went by slow as everyone followed our lead and got some sleep.

Morning came and I was waking up to Saf and Ira tapping my face. I opened my eyes to see that Star was laying on my chest now. I also felt eyes watching me as I turned to see that Pup, Ken and Cyric were here. "Good morning Jacob, we came here to help out with the Orkish." They said to me as I shook awake Star, she tussed a bit till she smelled that there were new humans around her. She opened her eyes really quick then looked right at my three friends. "Why are you going to help us, we have plenty of people to build up a new village in a month or two." I asked them and Cyric just said, "We are friends why wouldn't we help?"

I smiled big then got up off the ground to shake their hands. Star got up with me and thanked them for the help. We then went to work looking for a good place to build a more perminate village. The Orkish people stayed in camp as Star, Brad, Cyric and myself scouted the area. We came to this good opened spot near the shore line. "Ah a good place to start, we can start fishing here." Star said as she tested the water to feel how warm it was with her hands. I looked over the ocean to see a couple fins playing the water. I looked scared first but I saw that they were the friendly swimmers. "Yeah this spot will work for the village plus this might be good for the kids."

I said when Star stood back up from the water. We then mapped out the area where the Village could start building. Then we spent couple months building up the new Orkish Village with the help of Cyric and the others. I even helped the other capable villagers learn to fly and tame creatures of their own.
