The day after, that I got a hold of the other island I was pacing back and forth at home. Star was concerned about what just happened, "Who was that Jacob, you haven't said anything since you stopped talking to that man?" She asked me and I stopped pacing for a second. "That man is family, he's like my older brother. His mother is my mothers oldest son, which makes him my cousin." I said to her and she understood who he was now. "You were really close with him then?" She asked me and I nodded, "Yeah, we were brothers till our own brothers were born. With him being the leader of that cluster of people this might.."
I was saying just when Cyric came into my home. "I heard you found something of great importance, what was it that you found?" Cyric asked me seeing that I was conflicted to tell him, but I knew I couldn't hide it for long. So I told him everything, even the part of me hiding the easyness of fixing the radio and scanner. He sat back in the chair I let him sit in and he closed his eyes. He let out a huge sigh then he said loudly. "I knew you were hiding something about being able to fix those devices. I can't believe you'd choose help people you barely know than help your people!"
He started to yell at me and I felt a hot razer touch my mind for a second. I then let out a fist to the table next to me. "I was thinking about my family, you and everyone involved. I knew if I fixed those two devices you'd rush everything and cause more harm than good. Do you understand that, or do I have to remind you that I had to come find you when you left after going against my warnings." I said calmy reminding Cyric of his big failure when we landed on this island. He got even more angry, "You still blame me for that, it's not my fault I took slow explorers with me!" He said almost yelling again.
I got up out of my chair, "My parents were the ones that died in your little exploring mission. Or don't you remember that." I said grabbing Cyric out of his chair. Cyric had fear in his eyes when I said that, but I dropped him to the floor. "Cyric I had family to think of and I'm sorry for putting off the radio and scanner. But things have changed. That island in the west has my cousin Jared on it. He needs us and is willing to travel that dangerous water to get here. I'll make contact again and see what our plan should be, but untill then. Please don't do anything stupid for a while not till we have everything mapped out."
I asked him and he nodded getting off the floor. "Agree'd but what should I be doing in the mean time then?" He asked me whipping the fear from his face. I laughed, "We should make something for the new settlers coming. Something easy but hard to break for those creatures out there." I said and Cyric had something in mined for that, so he left after he apoligised for his aggression. I waved him off and I told him that I was sorry for not telling him why I had put off the repairs. He just nodded and left for Arkcoven when I saw Ira and Saf come back into the house.
They saw that I was a bit edgy as Cyric left. They both came up to me and I saw it was getting dark. Another day gone and I knew that I would be feeling even better tomarrow. We all went to make dinner but then Island came into the house. "You four want to come eat with everyone for night. Sky and the mothers are making dinner for everyone." He asked us and we four looked at eachother, we hadn't eaten with everyone in a while since I made a makeshift kitchen. I half nodded at Star and we all went to eat dinner at the commnity spot like we did when they lived in the forest.
I sat right next to Zer and Island as we watched the ocean behind the women. I was given a cup of juice an hour of sitting there munching on dinner. It was an amber color then I smelled it, a whiff of hops and beer took over my memories. Father and my uncle use to drink this stuff when I was younger. Then back when I was explorer I would drink it in celebration of a coming back alive. I took it from the woman who was handing it out to me. I took another look at it then I took a sip, the Orkish beer was more fruity but it was good. I was smiling and everyone near me gave me a weird look.
I then slammed the drink and I let out a, "Ooh Yeah, that hit the spot!" I then set the cup down on right next to me as I took a bit of meat. Island who was next to me laughed and slapped my back. He then told me that his people make this drink when they celebrate the summers end. Something of good luck for the colder months, though this area doesn't get to cold. But the regular plants don't grow and the animals they hunt don't migrate on this side of the island. We all enjoyed the drink with a couple more cups till it got really late. I started to feel tipsy, I went to stand up and I felt my knees give out.
Zer caught me and he chuckled, "Ha, you feeling a bit of that drink now aren't you?" I laughed, "Yeah I haven't drank anything like that in a long time. Guessing I drank a bit to much tonight." Zer smiled at me and brought me to my home while Star was just putting the kids to sleep. Star turned to see me with Zer drunk a bit and laughing with eachother. I saw she was happy with me getting along with her people and brother. She walked over and took over Zer's job at holding me up and brought me into the bedroom. Zer said goodbye to his sister then left.
I wasn't awake long when I hit the pillow. Star soon followed me as she cleaned off the table in the livingroom area. She watched me for a bit then she crawled into bed and laid on my chest. I in my sleep I said, "I love you Star." Then I let out a snore and I put my hand on her back. She replied back, "I love you to Jacob." Then she passed out on me till the early morning when she laid back in the bed. I was having a nice dream about her when I felt the sun hit my face. I woke up expecting to feel a hangover, but I was fine, even more energized than the day before.
I saw that Star was cold and still sleeping right next to me. I tussed a blanket right over her and I went outside to take in the sun. I warmed myself up then I went over to my lab at the farm. Brad was just waking up and I smiled at him. "You look tired brother, are you okay?" I asked him and he smiled, "Yeah, just not used to how much you actually do for the farm." He said back to me and I laughed, "What I just feed all two hundred wyverns and tend to the repairs and garden." I said being a smartass about it, He punched my side then told me. "We need to change that so we'll have to split the wyverns feeding."
"We can't have you falling or getting sick anymore." I agree'd with him and we went to work feeding some of the wyverns as the other workers took care of the rest. Who we feed was the more agressive breeds of wyverns and I fed the Rex's and Carcha. Then I headed back to the lab, there I turned on the radio. Right as I hit the volume button I heard my Cousins voice. "Jacob are you there finally my brother?" He asked through the speakers and I felt a tear roll down my face. "Yes, I am here Cousin, what do you need?" I responded and he told what he was plaining on doing.
He was going to cross the ocean to me and bring everyone in his group. I told him we was more than welcome but then I had a thought. How will we house all of these people till they find a place to live perminately. Then I got an idea, I called Cyric and asked him if it would be possible to make a port town in between the Arkcoven and Orkish,Mungkey farming village. He answered me right away like he was waiting for me. "Yes we can build one in a couple weeks time if we start tomarrow." He said and I relyed that information to Jared and he planned on crossing the ocean's after tonight with everyone.
Jared asked if I should bring anything and I said if he had weird dragon like creatures to bring their eggs. Then I told him to bring some tech he could afford to bring. He thought me egg request was weird since he had a few of those creatures with him and a ton of eggs to bring. "Why do you need those, do you eat them or something?" He asked me and I said "No, I raise and train Wyverns over on this island with Brad and my Family." I resonded and he laughed, "Ah I had a person who did the same thing here, she died years back so we just have a few left."
He said back and we talked about that for ten minutes. Then we got off to get things started on what was to come in the coming weeks. Building a whole primitive port town from the ground up would take forever. But I had man power and so did Cyric, so I went to my wife's people and I asked for help from Island and Zer. I got on my knees and bowed as I asked them. "Can you help me build a village for my family that is coming in a couple weeks. They are crossing the ocean to get here, I don't want to them to face the problems we did when..." Island stopped me from begging anymore and lifted me up.
"Son, you don't need to beg, we would be more than happy to help you. We're family after all, let me get the builders together and we'll come with you." He said to me and I told him that the plan was to combin with Cyric. Then I told him that we were going to start building in the morning. Island looked suprised but he nodded and went to tell the builders of the work that we had ahead of us. I looked up at the sun and it was only noon still. "I could get trikes and my bronto to help with clearing and carring the material." I said to myself looking at my big friend as he strolled on by.
He was just as big and strong as he was always. I saw my wife coming from the village gates. She had a bit of the last of the haverst with her being pulled by a Trike. She looked proud of what she did with this years haverst. I couldn't help but smile as she brought it up for me to look at. I saw that they were all clean and ready for pickeling or preserving in the storage for food for the village. "My love these look really good, are you proud of this years batch or crops?" I asked her and she nodded then handed me a melon for me to break open. I did and it smelled sweet like honey.
Then I got a memory of when I was a kid playing with my cousins and Brad. I cried a bit then I took a bit of it and felt my mind go blank on how good it was. Star looked concerned then I gave her a hug, "We need to save one for my cousin when he comes." I said to her and she agree'd to save atleast one for Jared when he came to the island. We walked the Trike back to the store room and then we preped the creatures for the next day. We then went to bed that night early to make sure we had enough time in the morning to do what we need to pack anything left over.
I slept decent but not like I should of, I kept thinking of my cousin and the port village I was going to make. Right around when it was dawn I got up and gathered my tools and plans for when the people coming might need. I waited for Star then she walked out fully dressed and washed for the day. She had the kids up and she told me that they would be coming with. We went outside and I saw atleast twenty people waiting for us to head out. We went to the spot that Cyric radio'd to me and it was a thirty minute trip from my small island going to the Arkcoven village.
The spot was flat, right next to the water but not low enough for the tide to get in to the village spot. We were looking right at the water when Cyric came with fourty people from his villages. Cyric looked tired till we saw me with the Orkish. He smiled and greeted everyone with a handshake to the ones infront next to me. Cyric then pulled out a blueprint he made up when I did and we looked over both of them. We had similar plans so we combined them to make the best small port village that we could. Then we went to work on everything from the docks to the building like they might be used too.
We worked on everything clearing all we could with the help of the animals. We even thought of a plan to bring and raise security animals to protect them for their time here. But we would wait till they get here. When the first week ended with the village almost being done I connected with Jared. He was about a couple days out and had not trouble with the ocean creautres as of yet. I then reminded him something important he needed to be prepared for. "Cousin, I am married to a person who's not human. She a Orkish woman, she might look intimdating at first but she is very kind."
"I don't want you to be scared or freakout when you see her or her people when you arrive." I told him and he acknowledged my warnings then told me that I had nothing to worry about. Then I told him that I would come to his ship once he reached the islands coast to show him to the village. He reminded me that he was days out and to stay near the radio when. I told him that I would have someone on the radio back at my farm so I could leave to meet up with him. Jared liked that plan and let me go so I could go rest for the day. When I turned the radio I made sure that I had extra power cells to go when I left for the port village.
With the last few days of me and my crew working on the village. We got done a couple days early with the village and it looked great. Almost like a mix of my farm and the Arkcoven village. It wasn't to big or small, it even had a windmill for electricity for one building atleast. We were all ready to leave when I got the call from Brad who was standing gaurd for the radio. "Brother, Jared is in the coast but he has a problem." Brad said and I asked, "What's going on, send Blizzard?" Brad sighted, "their ships sails broke and they can't get closer, but they are five clicks off of the west coast."
Brad told me and I looked up from my hand radio to see Blizzard was already here. I looked at Star and she looked concerned as I did. "I'm on my way to get him and his people, please let him know." I said back to Brad and relayed my message. I jumped on Blizzard then I offered my hand to Star, She took it and looked down at our kids. "Stay here with your uncle and Grandfather, we'll be back girls." She said to them and we headed off to help my cousin and his ship full of people. Star held on to me tight as we flew across the sky right over to the west coast in record time.
At first we didn't see anything till I saw a gaint wooden and metal ship in the middle of the bay. I looked back at Star and pointed at the ship so she could see them. I decended with Star holding on to me tighter as we landed on the deck of the ship. I looked down and saw that the humans of the ship were tired and scared. I jumped down but I kept Star on Blizzard just incase they did something stupid to me. "Cousin, Jared, are you here my brother!?" I called out to seeing the ships cabin door open fast. My now thirty year old Cousin was all scruffy and unkept from the lack of shaving.
He looked at me and saw I was Jacob his cousin. "Brother, you're alive I thought everyone died but us, I'm happy you're ok." He said hugging me tight as I did the same to him. "You're safe Jared, now lets fix this ship so we can get you to the port village." I said as he noticed Blizzard and my wife on top of her. "You're right about your wife she's intimadating but she's seems timid." Jared said as Star got down from the wyvern. I smiled at her as she blushed at me, "She's just being careful, new humans meeting new people might not go as smooth." I said letting Star greet Jared with a handshake.
