A Complication of Work and Background

"ARF! ARF!"

The dogs barked at him as they pounced, and Wolfe Fang could only close his eyes as he was completely paralyzed----

WHISTLE!

A long and loud whistle gained the attention of the dogs, and they turned in its direction.

It was followed by claps, along with a commanding but firm tone.

"Here, boys! C'mere! That's it, just calm down and come to daddy."

It wasn't the words that the dogs understood, but the tone of the person signifying that he wants to gain their trust. They first sniffed around carefully, their beady noses puffing out air, and circling the person.

When Wolfe Fang opened his eyes, he saw Leon Mo surrounded by these large dogs instead, who still observed him skeptically. Leon made slow and deliberate movements, continuing to say comforting yet also commanding words to maintain their attention to him.

He leaned down to their level, completely unafraid of making himself vulnerable this way by being on the same level as their mouths.

"You all are good boys, right? Oh, a good girl too." He said as he reached out to pat one of the three.

The others nudged at his knee and he chuckled as he scratched their necks and backs. "Good doggies, all of you. Let us through, okay? Don't hurt the pretty boy over there."

"How the hell did you just tame them like that...." Wolfe Fang said, able to move now but was backing away from the dogs and Leon instead of moving forward.

"Years of animal training. I work with police dogs before, these big guys are just softies. They were probably just provoked when they saw a stranger after being alone in these parts for a long time."

Leon stood up. "The main thing is to be patient and slow in order to get them to calm down. They're just like us, they need some time to not be mad anymore. I didn't 'tame' them, I just patiently waited for them to forgive me for whatever made them mad at me."

He walked towards him so the dogs followed, and this caused the scared Wolfe Fang to back away even more. "Hey, now. They're not gonna bite anymore, it's ok."

Wolfe shook his head. "You can't be too sure. I'm not trained like you."

Leon sighed, knowing well he can't make him let go of his fear easily. "Go along now, buddies. Keep doing your thing earlier."

The dogs understood his shooing gesture, and though they looked disappointed to be shooed back their new friend, they still followed and went back to their post.

"There. Are you feeling better now?" He walked over to check on Wolfe, who was breathing heavily. "They're gone now, it's fine. They won't hurt us while I'm here."

This did make the actor calm down and his breathing became steadier the more Leon coaxed him.

He was coaxing him just like the dogs earlier. By being patient and taking it slow. Wolfe found it so ironic that he was treated just the same as the ones he was scared of.

"I'm good now.... yeah....." He wiped the sweat on his forehead. "Hah, isn't it funny that for someone named Wolfe, I'm so fucking scared of dogs?"

Leon smiled but not at the joke. He was relieved that Wolfe was ok now from his panic attack earlier. "Yeah. It's pretty funny. But if it makes you feel any better, I'm not so keen on real-life lions either."

"Hah, none of us are." Wolfe said, holding his chest and looking down. "We should get going..."

"ARF! ARF! ARF!"

"HOLY FUCKING SHITBALLS!" Wolfe panicked again when he heard the barks that it caused him to jump over at Leon.

Leon was also shocked not by the barks by him shouting and clinging on to him that he carried him bridal-style in reflex.

He frowned. The dogs are not barking at them. They were on the other side beyond the narrow passage.

"It's him." He ran while still carrying the bewildered Wolfe Fang.

Sure enough, they saw a man with one foot over the fence trying to kick at the dogs barking at him, yelling and cursing. "Get away! Fucking hell, get away! Get away!"

His voice was very panicked and high-pitched, even cracking at so much frustration.

Leon whistled again, causing the dogs to stop barking and go over his side, to which Wolfe Fang clung even tighter on him with closed eyes.

The man with a red cap took this as an oppurtunity to jump down the fence, but now his path was blocked by a scary looking man carrying another scared-looking man, and three scary dogs.

He raised his hand in defense. "P-P-Please get out of the way, I'm innocent!"

"Then why are you running? You could have told that to the police." Leon said with his usually gentle eyes becoming menacing.

"T-They won't believe me!" The man looked up from the cap to appeal to him. "I really didn't take the child, I swear! It wasn't m-me!"

But as he looked up, he suddenly felt that his face felt familiar.

He went closer, and Leon Mo growled even more intimidatingly than the dogs. "Stay where you are, no sudden movements."

"S-Shizi?" The man called out. "Is that really you, Y-Young M-Master Shizi?"

Leon and Wolfe's eyes both widened in surprise.

Wolfe asked the man, "You know this gorilla?"

The man took off his cap to reveal his aged face. He must be in his late 50s or early 60s already, his hair peppered with white and his eyes full of smile wrinkles. He was very finicky and his earthy hands were shaky.

"Yes! I know Young Master Shizi from the Mo clan since he was a child!" The man claimed. "It's me, Yao Yuzhui! Do you remember me? I've been working at The Den for 30 years now!"

Leon couldn't recall his face, but at the mention of 'The Den', his face darkened.

"You work under my father." He said with gritted teeth.

"Y-Yes!" The stuttering old man was so happy that he could almost cry. He reached out to hug Leon Mo himself. "I'm so glad it was just you, y-you have to help me----"

BZZZZZZZT!

The sound of a taser came and Old Yao Yuzhui suddenly fell back. The dogs circled around his unconscious body, and Leon Mo whistled to get them away from it.

"Who tased him....?" He wondered, and then saw what Wolfe was holding.

The actor was grinning at him as he turned off the taser. "You never know when we famous celebrities will encounter any form of harassment from fans and non-fans alike, so it's good to keep some protection around."

"So you have always had that this whole time yet you never used it to tased me that night?" Leon grinned mischievously.

Wolfe reddened at this realization, and aimed the taser at Leon's neck. "I could always use it, you know. Thanks for reminding."

"Yeah, but let me also remind you that I'm carrying you right now and if you tased me, both our asses will get tased. Hahaha!" Leon laughed heartily.

Wolfe punched him sqaure at the jaw for this, yelling, "Put me down, you bastard! Put me down!"

Leon had no mercy when it comes to teasing this silly little Wolfe and put him down indeed without hesitation. "Alright, then."

Wolfe fell to the ground with an "Ow!" and whimpered as he touched his back from the impact.

"Why'd you let go like that!?" Wolfe exclaimed. "You have no heart after what you just did to me, you damn brute!"

Leon just shrugged. "You told me to put you down."

"I can't believe anyone would date a brute like you with 0 sense of being a gentleman." Wolfe complained, and then yelped when the dogs stared at him. "Eep! Help me back up! Help me back up!"

Leon just followed again with a dry smirk and helped him stand up. Wolfe quickly hid behind him from the dogs.

"What do we do with him?" Wolfe pointed at the unconscious man.

"We call the police and let them know our location." Leon said, taking out his phone to contact Teddy again. "That's the protocol we should follow."

Wolfe frowned. "But he works under the Mo clan. What if he tells on you for that?"

Leon Mo faltered. He then sighed.

He instead called another number.

"Ba. This is Shizi. One of your men got lose, possibly got involved in a child abduction crime. Take him and make sure he keep his mouth shut about me before I bring him to the police."

This was truly the difficulty of working in the side of the law but born at the side of crime.

He turned off the phone after getting a response and giving his father the adress and the description of the location they were in.

He just hoped his father would reach them faster than the police who were possibly searching for Yao Yuzhui.

Leon told Wolfe. "In case the police finds us first, you should go back to the hotel now. That way you won't be dragged on whatever comes after."

Wolfe shook his head. "Nuh-uh, no way."

"Why not?"

Leon thought that he was being insistent to help him again, and this did made his heart soften up more towards this nuisance.

Wolfe took a while before he said:

"What if I encounter more dogs on the way back and you weren't by my side? You promised I'll be all right so long as I'm with you, so I'm holding you on to that promise. You better be my bodyguard from rabid dogs from now on after what you did last night!"

Leon: .... ..... ..... .....

"You really are a nuisance, Wolfe Fang! The greatest nuisance in my life!"
