Xu Meihua opened her eyes slowly as she heaved a deep breath. She was sitting in a lotus position and her body was covered in sweat all over. Her stomach shone brightly with a light made of energy, before dimming away a couple of seconds later, signifying that her cultivation session was already over.
She felt some form of energy inside her dantian. Just having this energy inside her has made her feel stronger than ever.
'So this is how it feels at the Qi Gathering realm...'
Her eyes shone as she wondered what it feels like in the realm above.
...
In this world, there are twelve cultivation realms,
The first realm is Qi Gathering, where cultivators open up their clogged meridians by forcing them open with energy. There were ten meridians, so there were also ten stages. After opening all ten of them, they will form into full circulation and they will advance to the next realm, the Foundation Establishment realm.
In the Foundation Establishment realm, cultivators will then start to strengthen and enlarge their energy circulation while their meridians will also start to expand and toughen. This realm has three stages and most inner disciples are in this realm.
The third is the Golden Core realm, where cultivators form a core inside their bodies after strengthening their meridian circulations. This realm focuses on purifying one's Qi and has three stages. Only genius elites such as core disciples could enter this realm.
There were four other realms beyond the Golden Core realm, but it is at the level of elders and above. Xu Meihua disregards them as it would still take a long time before she could reach them.
Shaking off her thoughts, Xu Meihua refocused on the present and noticed her master standing in front of her with a prideful smile.
"Congratulations, Meihua. Welcome to the world of cultivation." Su Lan says as she reached a hand out to her.
Xu Meihua grabbed the hand and stood up, brushing away specks of dust from her clothes. She smiled back at her master,
"Thank you, Master... wait, wtf!?" Xu Meihua jolted as she frantically looked around.
Before she knew it, the sky had already turned dark with the moon hanging high in the night sky. The chirping of birds had been replaced by the hooting of owls, accompanied by a cold wind brushing against her face. It felt as if the daytime had passed just moments ago. The four hours of cultivation had flown by, seeming like a mere four minutes to her.
"Master, what's going on?" Xu Meihua asked as she turned toward her Master.
"Fufu, cultivating does kill time by a bit. That's why most cultivators aren't bored sitting still for days, and even years. Anyway, you should rest and let the energy inside you stabilize, we will continue your training tomorrow." Su Lan replied as she chuckled.
Xu Meihua nodded slowly in agreement. After breaking through just now, she could still feel the energy inside her body being restless. If she doesn't rest right now, then some of it might disperse eventually and decrease her stats.
'I guess Master is right. I should rest for now...'
She then slowly turned around to walk back home. Today has been a long day for her and she deserved a good long rest.
However, before she even manage to take a step, Su Lan suddenly gave a gentle tap on her shoulder, catching her attention.
'Huh?'
"You forgot to bring these..." Su Lan said slowly with a sinister smile.
Xu Meihua turned back around and she gulped as her face turned pale as a sheet of paper.
In her master's hand were dozens of thick books that were stacked together, forming a pile that was twice as tall as her height. Each one of these books contains techniques and it only took a second for her to guess what her master was about to say...
"M-Master, what are these...?" Meihua asked with teary eyes.
Su Lan chuckled as she continued,
"My dear naive disciple, you didn't think that learning three techniques was enough, do you? Of course, these techniques are things that you will be learning for the next thirty days."
Xu Meihua felt as if a massive rock was suddenly dropped on her head. All of the excitement and happiness that she got after breaking through Qi Gathering realm immediately disappeared in a flash.
Unlike her previous world where books were made easy to understand, this cultivation world's technique manuals are way thicker and more complex. Just one of those technique manuals was already hard enough to give her a massive headache, let alone a dozen more!
She thought she would only be training the other three techniques for the rest of the month. If that were the case, then at least it was still somewhat achievable. But to think her master would give her a dozen more...
She looked up and stared at the beautiful moon. Tears were dripping from her eyes like a waterfall as her body shook out of despair.
"I don't wanna do this anymore!!!" she cried loudly.
'It seems like she's excited to learn these new techniques!' Su Lan thought with a smile.
Xu Meihua immediately turned around to flee as quickly as possible but to no avail. An invisible force lifted her and brought her back in front of Su Lan.
Both of them flew back to their home as the moon shines brightly in the sky, painting the floating island with its light. Along the way, Xu Meihua would flail her body around and cry incessantly, but Su Lan didn't mind her. She ignored her disciple's cries with a smile on her face.
'I'm so good at teaching...'
They continue to set off into the horizon, into another session of training...

"Ugh!" Xu Meihua groaned as she slammed herself on her bed.
It has been a day since she first started cultivating and the energy inside her body has finally stabilized.
She was in her room, lying in a prone position with all of her limbs lying around in a messy manner. Beside her bed lies five thick books stacked on top of each other, forming a small tower that reached the same height as her bed.
These books are the same Equilibrium Technique manuals that were given to her by Su Lan a while ago. Every single one of these books was so heavy that it felt like dumbbells instead.
Su Lan has tasked her to read these books and memorize them by herself. To be honest, she was quite fortunate. It was still better than memorizing the dozens of books that Su Lan dumped in her hand yesterday. It took a lot of pleading for Meihua to convince her master to only task her with five books.
'Master is a demon! How in the world does she think I'll be able to learn that much in a week! I swear, when I become as strong as those scary elders, I will return this suffering a thousand times!! ... Anyway, no more time to waste. I should start reading and get this done with...'
She then grabbed one of the books and began to read.
'Equilibrium Fist technique... your body is a natural weapon that was blessed by the heavens... blah blah blah...' she continued to read with deadpan eyes.
She really doesn't care about what these books were about. She only wished to memorize them and get it over with...
And with so, she continued to read as two hours pass in the blink of an eye. Xu Meihua closed the book after finishing it once and threw the book away. When she was about to grab another one, she noticed something strange...
'Wait a minute, it has only been two hours?' she muttered as she took a look at the clock beside her.
It was a weird-looking clock that is made out of wood that her master gave her on her fifth day on the island. Su Lan gave it to her because Xu Meihua wouldn't stop waking up late for training.
After checking the clock closely, sure enough. It has only been two hours since she started reading the book.
'This is weird...!'
Xu Meihua jumped out of bed and paced around back and forth, trying to figure out what happened. Her mind worked like a speeding engine as she tried to recall even the slightest bits of things in her memory.
Tap tap tap tap...
The sound of the wooden floorboards echoed in her room as she continued to walk around her room.
'Usually, it would take a whole six hours for me to finish a book this thick. But just then, it only took me about two hours... Is the clock broken? No, my alarm still went off just a few moments ago... Wait!'
She suddenly recalled the system giving her 10 points on some stats after breaking through Qi Gathering. Her eyes shone as she made a discovery!
'Wait a minute...! Status!'

'Yes! It must've been because my intelligence stats increased by a lot after reaching Qi Gathering realm!' she figured with a wide smile.
She then recalled something her master taught her on the first day of training.
Every time a cultivator breaks through to an even higher realm, they would have a clearer and brighter mind than before. As their mind improved, their senses would also improve and as time goes, seconds would feel like minutes to them.
Xu Meihua had forgotten about these since she has been severely overworked and focused on training.
She then glanced at her stat points that has piled up into a large amount after some time. The truth was, she has been holding on to these in case the stat she unknowingly spent on turned out to be something that wouldn't really be of much use.
But now, she knows which stat she should invest in during her time on this island!
'Hahahaha! Alright then, I should pour all my points into intelligence and speed through these five books!'
"System, distribute all of my stat points into int-" she said when suddenly, she cut off mid-sentence.
At this moment, another thought entered her mind and she frowned. She rubbed her head as she became quite hesitant about whether or not she should spend all of her stat points in intelligence.
'S-Should I really pour all of my points into just one stat? I don't think I can redeem them later though... What if there was an emergency situation and I'm forced to fight a really strong opponent? I should save some points for later...'
With that thought, she quickly made up her mind.
"System, pour fourteen stat points into intelligence!"
[ 14 stat points have been successfully distributed into Intelligence! ]
All of sudden, Xu Meihua's mind became even clearer, as if two kilograms of rocks were suddenly lifted out of her head. It was the exact same feeling when she broke through the first stage of Qi Gathering. All of the stress she accumulated recently instantly disappeared like smoke.
'Ahh... pure bliss...'
She then tried reading another book and sure enough, her reading and memorizing speed became faster.
'Yes, so it was indeed the intelligence stat that made reading more efficient!'
Without much thought, she then continued reading the Equilibrium Fist technique as the night passes in the blink of an eye. She then slept soundly when the morning sun shone through the window before being scolded by her master for sleeping too late.
[ Fist Basics (Passive) has been learned! ]
