Book 1 - The Rose-Red Tyrant: Chapter 28; Finale for Heartslabyul

The screen turns on as the chapter title plays "Chapter - 28; Finale for Heartslabyul''.

It opens a few days later in the tea garden for the do-over unbirthday party. The trumpets shout again as this time a different student does the introductions "All hail our leader, the Red Ruler himself… Housewarden Riddle!"

The students shout a lot more comfortably "We salute you, Housewarden Riddle!"

Riddle then starts to look around and observe as he says "Hm. The garden roses are red, the tablecloths are white… This seems a proper unbirthday indeed." He then starts to ask "Is there a dormouse asleep in the teapo–"

But stops himself as he instead says "Er, well, I suppose it's fine either way." But Trey, who had walked up to him tells Riddle "Not everything has to change completely, you know. Like, maybe spread the jam on your scones, instead of on the dormouse this time?" He pauses and puts a hand on his shoulder before continuing "Let's set the bar at "it's great if it's this way," not "it absolutely has to be this way."" Riddle smiles and nods as he says "Yes, that makes sense."

The first year gang are at a table not too far away as Ace leans back on his chair and sighs before saying "I can't believe we got roped into cleaning up and prepping the garden again." But Deuce smiles and says "Well, at least the housewarden recovered from his overblot without any complications."

Cater then walks up and leans on their table as he tells them "And the garden is Magicam-worthy once again! Hashtag #nofilter on this gorgeousness!"

But as Grim also has his Heartslabyul bow back on he shouts "Blah blah blah! Let's just eat already!"

Cater says with a wink "Then eat we shall! I'll get the–"

But is cut off as Riddle yells "Wait a minute!"

As everyone turns to look at him slightly worried he's going back into his old self as Cater makes a questioning "Huh?"

He then points in one direction as he exclaims "There's a white rose…!"

This makes Ace, Deuce, Grim, Cater, and Yuu worried as Ace quietly shouts "We missed one?!"

Cater quickly shouts back quietly at them "Ace, Deuce, I told you to make sure to paint EVERY rose!" Deuce then yells back quietly "Wait, so this is our fault?!"

Trey is also nervous as he stutters out "R-Riddle, listen…"

Yuu also worriedly thinks 'Oh no. Not again…?!' while shouting to Riddle "Please, try to understand!" Also not fully believing in his change.

But they're all put off as Riddle giggles and tells them "Well… I suppose I can overlook one or two missed roses."

Cater is ecstatic at this as he shouts "R-really?! That's so generous of you, Riddle!"

Riddle then surprises them once again by telling them "If we work together, we should be able to get them painted in no time."

As much as this is a good surprise to the third years and most of the other students, to Ace and some of the other first years this isn't a good surprise as Ace yells "What? They still gotta be painted?!" But Trey all smiles as he says "Even so… I'm impressed."

He then turns to face Riddle directly as he tells him "You've changed, Riddle."

But Grim is done with the sap as he shouts "I'm starvin' here! Let's get these stupid roses painted or whatever!" Riddle then asks "All right, is everyone ready?"

There is a small time-skip as Riddle finishes the painting by doing all the roses on one bush at once.

Now done with that and back into the swing of the party Ace asks "So what happened to that tart, Housewarden?"

Riddle was a bit surprised by him rather suddenly bringing it up but quickly answered "I made it for you, as I promised I would."

As he goes and grabs a tart before bringing it over to the table and telling them "Here: one strawberry tart, crafted by yours truly."

Trey then starts to examine it as he gives his final verdict on it's appearance "Nice! The shape's a little off, but I can tell you put a lot of work into that glaze. A fine job indeed, especially considering it was your first!"

But Ace just starts to wave his hand around as he says "Oh, puh-leeze. How about we actually TRY it before you start fawning all over him, Trey?"

But Cater stops them before they can cut it as he says "Hold it! Don't you start cutting before I get my Magicam snap!" He then quickly takes the picture and tells them "Okay, got it!" Now allowing them to cut the tart.

But as they're begin to eat their given slices Ace says "Tch. I see Cater hasn't changed a bit either."

Then once they all have a slice Ace tells them "All right, let's dig in!" As he takes a bite, followed by Grim, and the rest.

But as Deuce takes his bite his face contorts as he says "Hmm…?" Which is quickly followed up by Cater and Trey also having a similar reaction as they say at the same time "This is kinda…" They all then shout "Salty!"

Which surprised Riddle as he was hoping to get all good marks as he exclaimed "Whaaat?!"

Ace then spits out the tart onto the grass as he shouts "Err? This isn't KINDA salty – it's a full-on salt lick! What did you put in this?!"

Riddle then starts to sweat as he thinks about how it could've gone wrong and starts to mumble "But I followed the rules exactly, and measured everything precisely! Unless… Oh!" He then pauses as he asks "Could it be…from the oyster sauce?"

Deuce then spits his out as well as he asks, worried "Wait…did you actually use that Walrus-brand oyster sauce Trey jokes about?" Riddle quickly answers so sure "But Trey said that oyster sauce is an unlisted secret ingredient in all tarts! He said all the finest bakers use it…"

But Ace cut him off by shouting "And you actually believed him?! How could you not tell that he was joking?!" But Yuu quickly shouts back in Riddle's honor "You fell for it too, Ace!"

Cater then moves on asking "Even if you believed the joke, it was only supposed to be a splash. How much did you add in?" Riddle answers "It's an unlisted ingredient! How could I measure it if he wouldn't tell me how much to put in?!"

Trey then bursts out laughing, as he falls to the ground and continues laughing while saying "I can't believe someone actually fell for the ol' oyster sauce prank!"

Riddle seems to let out a forced chuckle as he says "...Yes. Quite humorous indeed. I am truly a fool." Deuce also laughs a little as he tells them "It really is so disgusting that it's actually kind of funny!" Ace also joins in saying "Yeah, what else can we do but laugh?" as he let out a little chuckle at the end.

Grim then tells them "You know, in its own weird way, I think it's actually kinda good!" Cater agrees saying "Right? It really isn't half as bad as you'd think."

Deuce then exclaims "Seriously? You're agreeing with Grim, Cater? He literally eats garbage off the ground!" But Cater defends "Look, I'm not saying it's amazing or anything!"

Trey, now mostly done with his laughing fit, and having stood up again asks "But you like it because it's not sweet, right?" This shocks Cater as he lets out a "Huh?" Trey continued to explain his thoughts "You've never really liked sweet things, right?"

Yuu then asks him "Seriously? Not at all?"

Cater is surprised as he admits "Yeah, you got me. But how did you figure it out? I've never told anyone that." Trey answers "Because you casually bring up my Paint the Roses(Doodle Suit) spell every time we're eating sweets. You hid it pretty well, but that was a giveaway." Cater then further admits "Ack! My secret is out! This is so embarrassing! Especially after what happened to you and Riddle. I should have learned by now that keeping your feelings on the DL(down low) is not a great idea."

Trey then offers "How about I cook up a quiche for the next unbirthday party?" Cater smiles and tells him "That sounds totes amazing to me. Just make sure it's as photogenic as the tarts!"

The cat boy, Chenya, from before then phases into the rose garden humming as he grabs a tart and takes a bite. He then hums in satisfaction as he tells Trey "Mm mm mmm! Your baked goods are always so delightful, Trey!" As he continues to munch on one.

This causes Riddle to exclaim "Chenya?! What are you doing here?!" He swallows the bite of tart he was eating then answers "Hm? I came to celebrate my unbirthday with all of you. A very merry unbirthday to you, Riddle!" Riddle then tells him with a raised eyebrow "The unbirthday party is a Heartslabyul House tradition. It does not pertain to you."

Then pointing at Yuu and Grim with a small laugh as he asks "And those two? What about them?"

But Grim then shouts "Hey! You're that weird semi-invisible cat guy from before!" He then asks again "So you never told us – what dorm are you from?"

Trey then tells them with a small chuckle "Chenya isn't even a Night Raven student. He's a student at our long-time rival school, the Royal Sword Academy."

This causes Deuce to shout out "Whaaat? You go to a different school?" Ace then rudely shouts the question in an almost sarcastic tone "The frickin' Royal Sword Academy, no less?!"

Yuu then thinks 'Wow, that school has a really cool name.' as she asks "So there are other magic academies?"

But the question is ignored as some of the students heard Chenya was from RSA(Royal Sword Academy) As one of the rand students shouts out "Did that guy just says "Royal Sword Academy"?!" As another shouts "He's one of those pompous jerk-faces?!" As another shouts "What?! Who's from Royal Sword? We gotta run 'em outta here!"

Chenya, noticing the tension says "Well, now that I've tasted some tart, perhaps I should see myself out." As he hums into phasing out.

A student then shouts "He's running for it!" And another shouts "After him! Don't let him get away!"

Grim is now nervous as he says "Whoa, everyone turned bloodthirsty real quick."

Riddle and Trey are both annoyed by the actions of the students but Riddle explains "The cast majority of Night Raven College students perceive the Royal Sword Academy as the enemy." But Trey is a bit more of an understanding annoyance as he adds on "No surprise, given that they've kicked our butts every year for a hundred years straight…"

But Cater says "Hey, stop harshin' the vibe! This is supposed to be a day of celebration. Can't we all just enjoy our unbirthdays?"

And Grim takes to that immediately as he shouts "Myah! Merry unbirthday or whatever! I'm gonna eat till my stomach explodes!"

…

It then shows far away, where no one can see a bedroom.

It's pretty simple but messy, with drawers being left open, a completely unmade bed, clothes just lying around the floor. But hey at least it's got a balcony attached to it!

Ruggie, the hyena boy walks in as he tells the person inside "Awww, sounds like those Heartslabyul twits are having some kind of feast today. Must be nice." He then asks the person inside, as he starts to clean up the room a little "How come Savanaclaw doesn't have any traditions that involve eating lots of free food?" But just then Leona pokes his head out of the blankets on the bed and says "Bah, it's a beautifully sunny day and they're stuffing their faces with cookies and cake? Grossin' me out over here."

Now moving on he says "Anyway, Ruggie. You know that's not what I'm here to ask you about."

Ruggie then snickers as he says "Ah, that. Just leave it to me, Boss. All the preparations are proceeding smoothly!" Leona then smirks as he says "Then those fools won't be happily guzzling tea for much longer. That goes double for that snob Malleus. They got no idea what's comin'..." As he starts to laugh out loud.

Before the screen fades to black and "To be continued" plays on screen before fully turning off.
