Book 2 - The Usurper from the Wilds: Chapter 30; Savanaclaw Finale

The screen turns on as the chapter title plays "Chapter - 30; Savanaclaw Finale''.

It opens to blackness as crowds are heard cheering, before stopping abruptly.

It then switches to Yuu as she opens her eyes slowly as she sits up and sees that it's now night and she's in the infirmary.

She puts a hand to her head as she tries to remember what happens, but gets distracted by Grim shouting to presumably others "Hey, Yuu's awake!" Yuu makes a "...Huh?" noise as she still isn't all the way there yet.

She then sees Ace and Deuce in their gym uniforms at the side of her bed with Grim as Ace tells her "At the start of the second half, Grim threw the disc right at your noggin and knocked you out."

Yuu rubs in between her eyes as she tries to remember.

Ace then asks her, now kinda concerned "You don't remember?" Grim is sheepish as her injury was his fault as he tells her "I was tryin' to seal our victory with a shot from way downfield…"

Just then Jack walks up to them also still in his gym uniform as he tells them "You amateurs gotta work on your disc control."

Deuce grabs her hand to show his concern as well as get some of her attention on him as he tells her "I'm just glad you're awake. You were out so long I was starting to worry the hit had caused some real damage."

Ace flops down in one of the chairs brought over for them as he tells her "Yeah, you even missed the closing ceremonies! They're taking everything apart now."

Looking at Jack she decides to ask "How did Savanaclaw do?" instead of the real question she was thinking 'Which dorm won?'.

Leona is also then seen on an infirmary bed, both from his overblot and the Spelldrive tournament. Ruggie was also on a different infirmary bed from the Spelldrive tournament.

Leona scoffs at her question as he tells her "Everyone we played was ignoring the disc and throwing everything they had at US." Ruggie finished for him as he said "We were dead on our feet by the time we faced Diasomnia, so they ended up taking first place."

Jack hadn't seen them so he exclaimed "Housewarden! Ruggie!" as he goes over to them instead.

But Leona clicks his tongue as he states "Bein' stuck in an infirmary bed for anything other than a mid-day nap is about as lame as it gets." Ruggie's ears flatten against his head as he complains "And what's worse? Not a single Diasomnia student ended up here!"

Ace shook his head as he said "I'd heard the rumors, but man, seeing Diasomnia's housewarden in action… That dude does NOT mess around." Deuce agrees saying "Yeah, he was incredible. You wouldn't have believed it, Yuu!" Ace ended up putting a hand to his head as he commented "Now I get why everyone thinks he's invincible. I can't imagine taking him down."

Jack scoffs at them as he tells them "And with that attitude, you never will. You've let him beat you before you even face him." He then gets fired up as he shouts "I haven't, though. Next year, I'm taking Diasomnia down! And I'll win by givin' it everything I got!"

Leona smirks as he asks sarcastically "Does "everything" happen to include your capacity for evil?"

Yuu sighs as she asks him exasperated "Have you learned nothing from this?!"

Leona fights a laugh from her response as he said "I didn't realize we were in an after-school special here."

But he then puts on a light smile as he tells them with some reassurance "I'm givin' next year's tournament all I got, too. And I am gonna do whatever it takes to win." Ruggie does his signature laugh as he cheers "There's the Leona I remember!" Jack looks down as he rubs the back of his head and says "I can already tell this isn't gonna end well."

Grim then shouts "Next year, I wanna be in the tournament for real!" Deuce tells Ace "We need to practice so we can make the cut too." Ace nods as he says back "Yeah, no kidding. No way do I wanna embarrass myself in Grim's kiddie league again."

Just then a little kid comes running in.

They have light-brown skin and red-orange hair that fades into yellow at the bottom. The kid also had lion ears with a tail to match it too. They have a large oversized mostly yellow shirt with some mostly brown detailing and a little white. They have dark brown pants with some lighter brown detailing around the edges, although the pants only go down to their mid-shin. The kid also only has green sandals for shoes. Then there were two necklaces around their neck. The first one was gold and well fitted around their neck. The second one went all the way down their chest and was clearly too large for them. It had beads on both sides with a silver charm in the middle that had something lightly engraved on it and a bluebird's feather hanging off of the bottom of the silver part.

The kid ran up to Leona shouting "Oji-chan! There you are! I finally found you!"

Grim asks confused "Myah? What's a kid doin' here?"

The kid then exclaims "Unca Leona!" They then grab onto Leona's hand as he tries to shake them off, but fails to, as he says "Baaah. The screech box found me."

Jack is surprised as he asks "Unca' Leona…?"

Leona then gestures to the kid as he tells them "That furball's me brother's son, Cheka. You know…my nephew." This makes all of them shout "Your nephew?!" in surprise.

Ruggie takes a closer look at the kid, Cheka, he asks "So this is who's next in line for the throne…?"

Cheka then exclaims excitedly at Leona, not discouraged by him trying to stay away "I saw you play, Unca! You were so cool! Next time I visit, teach me how to play!" Leona then pushes him away as he says "Fine, fine. Just stop screamin' in my ear!"

But he gets his composer back as he asks Cheka "Where're all your attendants? They gotta be tearin' their hair out lookin' for you." Cheka tells him "I couldn't wait to see you, Oji-chan, so I left them all behind!" before giggling.

Jack and the others stare in shock as Jack says dumbfounded "So…the source of all Leona's anguish…" As Yuu finishes for him "Is this…child?" equally as dumbfounded. Grim states "The kid sure seems to love everything about him."

Leona is then seen trying to keep Cheka, who had managed to get onto his bed somehow, away from him as he shouts at them "Shut up, all of you! And stop gawkin' at us!"

Cheka is then heard excitedly asking him "So when are you coming home to see us, Unca? Next week? And when's the next time after that? Did you read all the letters I sent you?"

Leona tells him "Look, I told you, I'll be back for the holidays–" before crying out "OW!" As he once again begins the battle of keeping Cheka off on him as he shouts "That hurts! Get offa my stomach!"

Jack is even more shocked as he shouts "He's riding Housewarden Leona like a horse…?!" Ruggie instead bursts out laughing as he shouts "This is priceless!" Before he teases Leona "So THIS is why you never want to go home to visit your family!"

Cheka then turns his attention to them as he asks "Are you all Oji-chan's friends?"

Ace is laughing as he tries to hold it in to answer the kid "Yeah, we sure are! We're your Unca's besties! Ain't that right, 'Unca Leona'?" Ace teases Leona, of which he gets a glare in response. Ruggie is still laughing as he shouts "U-Unca Leona…!" as he laughs some more before crying out in pain as his laughing stops and he complains "Argh, it hurts so much when I laugh…"

Leona yells at all of them "Go ahead, laugh it up! I'm gonna remember this!"

…

It then switches to later when Yuu and Grim are back in their dorm bedroom.

Grim is pretending to be asleep as he opens one eye and looks around as he asks himself "Hmm? Is the coast clear?" He then gets up and grabs something as he chuckles and says "Finally, the moment I've been waitin' for!"

It then shows that he had grabbed another black stone. As he grabs it he says "I've been holdin' onto this baby since I secretly snatched it up at Savanaclaw House! I wonder what these things are?" He then says "Meh, who cares? Finders keepers, losers weepers! Down the hatch it goes!" As he eats it whole.

He then goes on his flavor rant again "Mmmmmm… This one's got a real mature taste– slightly bitter yet tangy on the tongue." He then exclaims "Those dumb humans don't know what they're missin'!"

He then yawns as he says "Now that I'm full… I'm gettin' kinda…sleepy…" as he floated back over to his sleeping spot and fell asleep immediately, this is clear by his snoring.

The screen then fades to black as "To be continued" plays before it fully turns off.
