Zarah's POV
The street was bustling with people walking and going to work. I prefer to walk and not ride a bus because the company where I'm working is just a short distance from home.
I am used to going to work on my own now without my best friend, Sarah, going with me. After my parents died in a car accident, I developed trauma and panic attacks. Sarah would accompany me whenever I went out because when I saw roads, I would have panic attacks. After all, I would have flashbacks of the car accident. However, I practice going out independently to combat my trauma and panic attacks because I don't always want to rely on Sarah. And recently, I went out alone, though I am still nervous.
I was walking when someone harshly bumped into my shoulder and snatched my bag from my arm. I dashed, running.
"Hey! Stop!" I screamed, running after the thief. That bag contained all my essential belongings. I cannot lose those important belongings. I'm exhausted from running because the snatcher is moving quickly, and I can't keep up. The people who saw what happened just ignored it. They just continued walking. I didn't know the person's face because the person was wearing a hoodie. But I know the person is a guy.
A man just walking grabbed the burglar by the hoodie and flipped him around. I was stunned because it was like I was seeing a real-life action scene. Not to mention that the man is so masculine and handsome. He is my ideal type of man. He is also wearing an expensive suit. The burglar is lying flat on the ground. The man grabbed both wrists of the burglar and stepped on his back so that he wouldn't escape. After some minutes, the police arrived and arrested the burglar. While the police handcuffed him, he struggled but failed to run.
"Here. Check your bag if anything is missing," The man said. I checked my bag, and all my things were in it. Thank goodness. My heart is beating so fast. I kept staring at him. I returned to my senses when he snapped his finger before my face.
"Are you ok, Miss?" The man said. Oh gosh, I am staring at him. It's so embarrassing.
"Oh, I am ok. Thank you for bringing back my bag. I will have to go now because I'm almost late for work," I said. I ran to my workplace because it was almost late. When I arrived, I sat in my chair. My heartbeat is still beating so fast. I hope I'll see him again.
"Good morning, Zarah. Why are you late?" I looked at my side, and it was Lara.
"Good morning, too, Lara," I greeted her and told her what I went through earlier. She got worried but felt relieved because nothing terrible happened to me.
"If you meet again, maybe you are destined to be together," Lara said.
Lara is my co-worker, and we are very close. She was the one who approached me first during my first day of work, and we became close friends.
"Oh, by the way. Who is the CEO of the company? I haven't seen our CEO since day one," I asked Lara because I had no idea who our company's CEO was.
"The name of our CEO is Mr. Yohan Lewis. He arrives early, and sometimes he is not here because he has appointments and goes to universities to have lectures. In short, he is a very busy man, a workaholic. If I would describe him, Mr. Yohan is tall, smart, handsome, rich, professional, and passionate about his work," Lara said.
An hour later.
"Zarah, we have an emergency meeting now. Let's go," Lara said, so we went to the room for the emergency meeting. Upon arriving, we all sat and waited for the CEO to arrive. After a few minutes, a man went inside, and I was shocked because he was the man who saved and returned my bag from the burglar.
"Meet the CEO," Lara whispered in my ear.
Mr. Lewis eyed everyone, stopped at me briefly, and resumed.
"I'm sorry I am late because there's been an emergency. So, let's start the meeting," Our CEO said. While Mr. Lewis is talking, I stare at him in awe. I was taken aback when Lara elbowed my arm, so I looked at her.
"Mr. Lewis is calling you," Lara said. I didn't hear that Mr. Lewis was calling my name. I looked at everyone, and they were staring at me.
"Are you the new employee?" Mr. Lewis asked.
"Yes, Mr. Lewis," I quickly answered.
"Please focus," Mr. Lewis said. I looked at everyone, and they were hiding their laughter. After an hour, the emergency meeting was adjourned. All of us went back to our designated place.
"What happened to you back there? You look star-struck at Mr. Lewis. Is he that handsome?" Lara asked me.
"Mr. Lewis is super handsome. How old is he?" I asked Lara.
"Mr. Lewis is 31 years old," Lara answered. His age doesn't define his looks because he looks younger than his age.
It's already 7 in the evening, which means it's the end of work. Lara went home first. When I arrived home, Sarah was in the living room watching TV.
"I'm home!" I shouted.
"You're in a good mood. Did something good happen at work?" Sarah asked. She knows that I'm in a good mood.
I shared with her what happened this morning. She got worried and told me she would go with me to my workplace starting tomorrow, but I declined because I could go there alone.
"Did you confess to Matthew?" I asked Sarah.
"I didn't because I feared our friendship would be ruined if I confessed to him. I can't afford to lose Matthew if I confess to him," Sarah said with a sad look.
"You have a point, but from what I've observed, I think Matthew likes you," I said to Sarah.
"I will just wait if he confesses to me."
