Chapter XI - My Spell, The Tower

Noah was currently in a predicament, and why you ask? He is now being grasped onto for dear life by none other than Vincent, who somehow tricked Noah by not being up the subject of his extremely stubborn way of allowing Vincent to join him.

"Iris!" Vincent whined as Noah, who begrudgingly let go of Vincent's hand that he magically clung onto earlier and now Noah sighed in exhaustion.

"Iris, why are you running in the opposite direction? Your Tower is over here." said Vincent as Noah stopped on his tracks and realized that he was, indeed walking in the wrong direction.

Noah looked back and sighed again, "Well, I guess you can tag along for now. I can only use teleportation once a day. If I used it once more, who knows what will happen." He said as He lead Vincent through the forest and onto the road directed to the Tower.

"This is the first time I saw the Tower up close." Vincent said as Noah looked at him, "Wait till you see the interior, everything there is crazy so don't run along without me. Don't let go of my hand." Noah said as Vincent looked at him with wide eyes.

He then saw Vincent covering the lower half of his face and a slight blush caught his eye at the same time a hand clasped his left hand.

"Then, this time. Will you be the one to lead me?" He asked as Noah looked blankly, his whole system froze and is currently under maintenance. Who would imagine the quiet Vincent to do this to him?!

With Noah recovering with a nod, he held Vincent's hand tighter and began to walk towards the tower before they stopped in the middle.

"If no one opened the barrier, I swear. I will destroy this and build another one." Noah mumbled as the invisible barrier shifts and reveals the entrance of the Tower.

That is correct, the Tower seen by normal people is but a mere illusion designed to avoid any headaches. It was built by the Supreme Councilor 200 years ago and since then the barrier acted as the first line of defense for it.

"Master Blanche! Thank goodness you've returned. Master Reginald came back earlier and was a bloody mess!" The one who opened the barrier, Lina was a senior mage in charge of opening the barrier.

Although her outburst is certainly not what you expect from a senior mage or a mage at that, she is very capable of handling things she's an expert off. But, she never got used to seeing bloody mages entering from missions.

"Calm down Lina, slow down and report what happened in every detail." Noah said as he lead Vincent and was followed by Lina who closed the barrier.

"Yes Master! Master Reginald came back two hours ago, he was covered in cut and has a wound on his left arm. He was not unconscious but Sir Reve immediately appeared and smacked him on the head which resulted in Master Reginald fainting! And that leads us right now." Lina said as they walked the glowing transparent staircase that illuminated the tower.

"Until now, Sir Reve still hasn't gone down his tower." She added as she slumped her shoulders and sighed.

"I'm sure that Reve healed Reginald, but I can guess what their doing right now." Noah said as his intuition screamed at him that the two currently holed up in their shared tower is doing something.

"Here it is, thank the stars that I finally got you." Noah said as he pulled the floating door in the middle, it was colored in brown and has different flowers surrounding it.

"Better to knock first." He mumbled as he knocked loudly, "I'm here, and stop doing what you two are doing this instant!" Noah said as the three of them heard several things fall over the floor and a loud bang.

"H-Hey there Blanche!" The door opened and revealed a man in what looks like his early twenties with long golden hair and bright yellow eyes, his hair is disheveled and his clothes were practically hanging over his shoulder.

"I see that you have enough energy to do this stuff, but I need your report so let us in." Noah answered back with a frown and crossed his arms, he still didn't let go of Vincent's hand so it flung and followed.

"How harsh, but I suppose you really need to know this. Come in and mind the floor, Reve is in a middle of a research." He said before opening the door fully and let them in, Lina did not enter as she went to prepare some refreshments for them.

"Research? For what?" Noah asked as they walked in between towering stacks of books, being mindful as he placed a protection and deflection barrier on Vincent in case the books tumbled and crashed onto them. Flat like a pancake.

"Well, the barrier of course. We need to seal it fast, I don't think Celesto will like his barrier being opened without permission." He said while grumbling as they saw a clearing and in the window sat a very tired and sleepy Reve, slouched but focused reading the three books floating in front of him.

Reve Loren, a genius mage like them who prefers books and solitude than practically displaying his strength. He is capable of blasting an entire island but he seems to like storing his strength to save him from having his head ache.

"Hello Reve, how did it go healing this whining corn?" Noah said as Reve looked at him dead in the eye and smiled.

"Next time, please do tell him a very important message not to mess with his body. If he ever comes back like that again, I will leave him." He said as Reginald bolted so fast to his side that his whole body blurred.

"Reve! I told you, they were too strong. Can't you make an exception for me?" said Reginald who whined and knelt beside Reve. Reve just looked at him before blocking Reginald's face with a book.

"Strong? How so? You are practically below me in terms of power." Noah said as he sat Vincent in one of the couches inside the tower.

"Well...I could have beat them if someone released the binding in me." Reginald said with a sarcastic tone that earned him a glare from Reve.

"Binding? Don't tell me, you didn't realized I released your binding already?!" Noah exclaimed as Reginald shot him a confused expression before morphing in horror.

"I could have killed that Unfaithful! Why in the stars above did I not notice!" Reginald screamed as Lina appeared and looked at the scene with a blank look and gave Vincent tea and Reve's calming tea.

"Unfaithful? Are you sure?" asked Noah to the fuming Reginald, in return the yellow angry corn nodded.

"I am really sure, it's the same being a fought way back and the smell and how it looks. Same as before, still disgusting." He said while raising his right arm and a look of disgust crossed his face before it turned serious as he looked Vincent, who is currently chilling near Noah.

"And who is this man? Blanche, you know not everyone can enter the tower." He said and eyed Vincent who only sipped his tea with his eyes closed, looking serene.

"Ah, this is Vincent. My childhood friend, Uncle Aelfdene asked him to accompany me and he agreed." Noah explained as he nodded from the information Reginald gave him.

"Then, were did you encounter the Unfaithful?" He asked as Reginald removed his eyes from Vincent and looked at Noah.

"Near the Village of Lorgan." He said.

"As expected, near the land Wrolent and the border. We now know what crossed the barrier, but who opened it?" Noah mumbled as Reginald and Reve nodded.

"I'm currently thinking in how we can seal this faster, maybe I could just seal it with my stored mana in one go." Reve suddenly said as Noah looked at him.

"We can try that but wait until we pushed back or at least dealt with the Unfaithful's who passed through. After that, we will proceed on strengthening the barrier." Noah said as the other three mages nodded.

"Then I will asked the other to prepare Master Blanche, please excuse me." Loren said as she disappeared.

Noah looked at the west window and saw the fluctuation of the barrier near the territory of Wrolent, he looked at each people inside the room.

"We'll deal with that, I expect everything to be ready when I come back." Noah ordered as Reve nodded along Reginald.

"Please stay safe Blanche." Reve said before Noah and Vincent are engulfed with a white light, Reve sent them to the coordinates Regnald gave him and what welcomed them was a relatively small village, the said Village of Lorgan.
