After the last battle, the werewolves and the Wild Boar Men both began to conserve their energy and gather their strength. There was no way around it; although both sides wanted to attack the other, the losses they had suffered last time were simply too great.
Their military forces had suffered heavy losses. The Wild Boar Men, though still possessing their main legion, had few strong warriors left.
The key issue was their lack of speed. Without the ability to secure a definitive advantage, they dared not leave their tribes vulnerable to an attack. Doing so would only allow the extremely swift Wolf Riders to pick them off one by one.
The situation for the werewolves was even more tragic. Originally, there were some who could have remained, but after the Wind Bone Grass's assault, the main werewolf legion had been completely destroyed. Those who managed to escape were too few to protect all their kin.
